May be some of you remember this mission. You just need to kill them all. There is a group of pirates after first accelerattion gate and then more after second.
I can handle first group relatively easy, but can't figure out how to kill second one. They are starting to attack me all at once and shooting missiles, so my shields and armor go down VERY fast. I can't even get close enough to them and lucky if I can warp away in time.
Is there any trick to it that I don't know? I am using Rifter and have minimal (Tech 1) skills for the gadgets I can put on.

Edited by: Obukh Toporoff on 11/03/2007 14:05:42 I tried several variations, but I don't have much to play with. As weapons I tried 3x AC 1 and after that 3x 150 artillery. With EMP charges. 2x reacror controls I and afterburner I. Small armor repairer or shiled extender.
As for pirats I can't tell. Don't remember. Look like little red crosses and hurt like hell.

he means what "name" the pirate group has.. like angels or gurista
i had my rifter with 1 missle launcher and the rest artillary mid slots i think a webber and cap chargers, maybe an AB low slots put up a tank as far as i could. believe it has 3 lows so it was a slightly better then average small armor repper, and some resistance platings
i found lvl 1 missions to be REALLY easy after you figure out some things. for one.. especially when starting out, range wins. i used artillarys with ranged ammo, and allong with my missles i could shoot almost anything without them even trying to shoot me, just because lvl 1 rats arent the smartest or best ships
try to find out what type of npc you are dealing with and make sure you load your weapons with the type of ammo that hurts them, and resist for the dmg they do

When I first started, a whole month ago I was using Arty alot. In that particular mission you can picj a target and orbit at 10km or keep at range. Depending on your skills and what Arty gun you are using 10km is just over your optimum range but you'll still hit more often than not, the bonus being that if things start going south on you the 10km buffer opens real fast once you engage your afterburner. If my memory is correct during that second stage there should be 1 group separted from the others.
Fight smart, pick off the ones furthest out and work your way in Oh and watch the damage you do, different ammo types work better on different factions.

I have a problem with this mission too. My issue is, after clearing the first group, going thru the gate I ended up in the middle of 10 of them all with in 25k. I lost my Cormarant pretty fast. Is it set up to warp in the middle of the pack?

Edited by: Dethis on 12/03/2007 02:11:03 Could be your setup.
Try this in a merlin if you can afford it.
2x 125mm 2x Small launchers 1x AB 1x Small shield booster 2x Resistance amps/active shield hard (depends on your skills and your fitting skills) 2x PDU.
Kill what you can if you start to get in trouble you can warp, but with this setup i was tanking the whole 2nd room Of WC when i first started the game
For a rifter i dunno though probably something along the lines of
Highs: 3x 150mm Scout Autocannons 1x Rocket (Named if possible) Mids: 1x Medium Shield Extender I 2x Shield Resistance Amplifiers I Lows: 3x Shield Power Relays I
I used that for level 2 missions when i got bored though i dont know if that will fit for a low level player.
Could also try
Highs: 3x 150mm Scout Autocannons 1x Rocket (Named if possible) Mids: 1x Medium Shield Extender I 1x After burner 1 1x Small shield booster (preferably named) Lows: 3x Power diagnostic unit 1.
Just food for though, you could armor tank rifters too but i personally didn't have armor skills when first starting and found these to work out good. -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Well, thanks for info. And, BTW, Scout ACs are 900k in my area, and I have 1.2 mil ISK atm, so it's out of the question. :)

I got into all sorts of problems with this.
I've just started with a Gallente 'special forces' background and have a Tristan. I just did the 2 tutorial missions then followed the referal to the next agent.
In following the impression I got of Gallente approach, I have 2 blasters and a drone. I also have small shield regenerator and armour repairer plus 2 cap rechargers.
I've done a lot of kill one or 2 (hopefully) recover drone and warp out, patch up and repeat. Nice that it appears you can go back and recover drones you've left behind.
After first reading here I took more care over identifying softer (outlying) targets first and that helped.
I can see that longer range weapons would help. I did have a mix of blasters and rail guns, but even rail gun range is pretty poor. I used to have the faster (50%) frigate so I didn't have a problem chasing things down then!
The other issue I guess is with skills. I have lots of drone skills, but I can only put one in frigate and my starting package left me one skill short of the II variants...
Anyway, I did it, even if it did take 4-5 hours .

I was having problems also, I saved up, trianed up, and now I use a Kestral for missions. Four standard launchers with bloodcaw in three of them and sabertooth (? the emp/anti-shield missle) in the first launcher and now the pirates get the whooping.

I was playing with my alt last night doing this for Thukker mix (vs Concord - naughty) and there was a fricking Battle Cruiser in the second room. Level 1 maybe, but solo no chance.
Although thats probably serves her right for 'messing with the law'
