Hi all,
I'm looking for a little side business in the WH I live. Now I'm wondering if reactions could be a nice additional task to generate some extra isk.
Now I wonder.... can this make a good profit? I've done a little research and came to the following example:
1x Large Tower would cost about 600M in fuel each month.
Based on what I read on this page, if I would use the Fulleroferrocene Reaction I would need to haul in C50, C60 and Tritanium. If this reaction runs a full month, I will reach a break-even point with my fuel costs.
Is this right?
Ofcourse I would not need to haul in everything, as I also do some gas mining in the WH myself. But I just wanted to make sure that my assumption is OK.
If yes, i could also switch to Carbon-86 Epoxy Resin. This would make me about 1.2B in profit.
And then to make it more profitable, why not set-up multiple towers? :)
For some reason I think there is a mistake in my calculations.
Any comments / recommendations? |

Your calculations are correct. Depending on your WH Class you may only have access to certain level gases. But if you watch what is selling high you can make your fuel costs back easily. Then all the ratting and mining you do on the side is pure profit.
I would start with one tower first. you may find getting all the gas to run for a full month tougher than it looks. I used to do one type for a month while my stocks filled up on other gases and ores. Then switched over to another type of reaction. PPD's used to be one of my main ISK Makers then. |

Are the values in LaraJades link up to date? Seems too easy to be true. What's stopping everyone to just run 10 large reaction towers? |

Running a reaction tower takes reagents, time, fuel and effort.
Only the reagents for fullerite reactions at the bottom of the page may be huffed in wormholes - and not reliably in huge quantities. Everything else needs to get shipped in and shipped out to get sold again. If you want to run 10 towers you will hardly do anything but logistics. I had one tower set up already and used spare cpu and power to fuel a reaction. This was nice money on the side. A lot more will amolunt to real work. |

I've not looked recently, but when I was doing hybrid polymer reactions ...
Sales volume vs. supply volume was a big issue. Most of the hybrid polymers are over-supplied and competition is very stiff.
Only the top two hybrid polymers had acceptable level of competition (the high price thinned the herd), but the trade volume was too low to make it worthwhile.
Don't just look at profit, also look at volumes: units traded daily, and sell order units vs. buy order units.
I'd rather make 10 items that earn 100,000 ISK and sell in a day than one item that earns 1,000,000 and sells in a week. |
