I don't hear about this ship much. Is it a viable ship if you have a tackler?
My other option is quite divergent because I would choose going to a Sabre and the Interceptor/Interdicot line.

the zealot is very subpar in todays PvP environment.
when all the HACs are fitted for damage (granted, some of these setups are unrealistic on some HACs)
the zealot outdamages:
the Sac (who doesnt) the Eagle when the Eagle is setup for sniping.
and thats it. the zealot was hot prior to the stacking nerf quite awhile ago, the nerf that did in the gankageddon. the zealot also has the following limitations:
lack of medslots (no EW) low sensor strength and range (gets whacks by ecm and damps) VERY cap dependant (heavy nos > zealot) lazers need help (fitting problems, fixed damaged types with only so-so damage, most hit by TDs) no drones (complete lack of versatility)
zealot needs a BIG damage boost to make it viable without radical changes. really should only be out damaged by the deimos.

Zealot has some issues but it is still quite a nice ship. You need AWU 4 for this one : 4x heavy pulse II with scorch 1x warp disruptor II + medium electrochemichal with 800 charges + Y-T8 MWD/T2 MAR II, t2 thermal hardener, EANM II, 400mm RT plate, local inertia stabb + t2 nanofiber + Heat Sink II. With Navigation 5 and Acc Control 4 i get 2.25 km/s.
It's issues i found so far - things that annoy or are just plain horrible about it : 1 - no drone bay ... it really needs one, not large but still a decent drone bay. 2 - extra mid; tackling or solo work is very hard to do in it. More and more ppl pack heavy nos, which doesn't affect hacs in the same way. For the Zealot TD's and Heavy Nos is just plain awefull. I have perfect cap skills with controlled bursts 4 and i find it very hard to keep my cap at 40% with WD II + guns + hardener online - i had no rigs fitted. I can get a MAR II cycle every 30 or so seconds but that is about it, probably 1 light nossing or neutralizing drone could kill my cap. By the nature of the Pulse's - high optimal, you need to control range, but how can you control range when most ships are faster and you can't webb anything ? Due to the slot layout you are left with 2 med slots, so you need to tackle by having a superior speed and high warp disruptor range. And because you don't have a drone bay, if a drone ship managed to put some drones on you - be them med or heavy, you are left with no choice but to tank them. Worst tactic someone tried on me was force me to control range by using MWD which increased my sig and made me a juicy target for the 5 Berserkers II coming after me. If i couldn't control range, he would have made it in <10km, then webb and nos on me.
From my end, a bit of CPU love, some extra cap and a drone bay would help a lot. --------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Darwinia on 12/03/2007 06:58:10 The Zealot is kind of viable.
But as stated in the previos posts, it's really vulnerable to NOS and drones.. the lack of a drone bay doesn't help it etiher. In my experience it is best used in roaming ganking gangs (with a full gank setup).
There are a lot of suggestions to improve it.. I would like see another turret HP ------------------------ I don't believe in sigs. |

Zealot is a nice ship, heres my setup(note this was in order for me to run the armor rep indef...I'd advise 3 damage mods) Highs:4x heavy pulse II,1x 'Knave'nos. Mids:1 10mn ab II,x5 webber, faint warp 20k scram. Lows:1 armor rep II 2 eanm II's 1 thermic membrane II 2 heat sink II's 1 power relay(best named)
As i said, sitting in space with this setup -the nos i can use the repper indef or atleast a long time, with 4-4 cap skills. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. I am minmatar, fly amarr, use gellente drones and am in caldari space. |

Wasn't the Zealot released after the stacking nerf?

Sit near your fleet battleships or inbetween your fleet battleships and gate and snipe enemy support trying to get close. Due to crazy ROF, you will be machine gunning enemy support down. 2 Sensor Bosoters since you kill enemys pretty much as fast as you can target.
You can also drop heavy beams to Focused Beams II, and this leaves enough powergrid to fit in a 1600 plate if you drop a heatsink. --

Haha. Everyone I know calls my ship a Zeelot. I think Zellot sounds better tbh. Zeelot sounds kind of...ghey.

I don't really see how it could be 'zellot', obviously 'zee- lot'!
like.. tea - tee. zea - zee?
ZEALOT.
Edit: I suppose it could be 'zeel-ot' as apposed to 'zee-lot' too. I've looked at the word for too long now and it looks wrong, y'know.. when you look at words for too long and up thinking 'wtf, does that even make sense?' 'It's not really spelled like that is it? o_O' etc
<_<
I don't even know what I say anymore, I think maybe 'zeel-ot'.
Back on topic, umm yeah give it another turret hard point!!111one. Seriously.

Victory to all 'Zellot' fans. As most of us know, Zealot is a real word, and if you look it up on dictionary.com you will clearly see the pronounciation key say this-
"/ˈzɛlət/ Show Spelled Pronunciation[zel-uht]"
If you need further proof, Look here

Well, I think I might just continute to call it 'zeal-ot' anyway, because I think 'ze-lot' sounds even more stupid, or I might just say 'amarr HAC', lol. Good job they're not too common >_>

Honestly just get a harbinger. It's got more firepower than a zealot (zel-uht!) a drone bay and another midslot. It loses the t2 resists but has more base armor and shield and it's a fraction of the price. It's a no brainer. I thought prophecy was in direct competition with ealot but harbinger far surpasses it. No reason to pay 160-200 mill for a t1 ship when you can get a fully insurable one for 40 mill that's superior.

Nah. I played a similar game though, TDZK which now is doing pretty bad (such a shame), and EvE is like a 3D version of TDZK but with lots more depth than TDZK will never have. .
