Do you use Tech2 and faction mods OR cheap mods? Do they make sugnificant difference to justify the extra cost!

Faction...no. However I use t2 guns all the time due to the very large diffrence in damage. However me and most of my corp typiclly don't even use named stuff just crap you can buy for nothing on the market and toss in the ship and watch is explode later! (hopefully with someone elses too!) About me! My kills! |

depends a) how rich do i feel, b) how suicidal do i feel? and c) do i trust the ppl im fling with or are they gonna just leave me to die?
tech 2 mods are worth the cost. i find faction is only worth it if the fitting savings mean you can have a more optimal setup. there are exceptions ofcourse
i havn't got a new sig so i used an old one :) |

t2 on frigates, intys
cheap stuff on the big ships since im very likely to get caught in it. i lose too much money when flying big ships

Depends on if I can get a good deal for the gear. Usually I go with T1 or cheap named, but I'll splurge for a T2 item if it's going for a little under the normal price.

faction and rigs make a huge difference. they aint gonna help much if u are hugely outnumbered but they can mean the difference between losing ur ship and keeping ti sooo many times.
most of my ships are faction fitted and at a minimum t2

I always fly tech 2 fitted. It costs more, and hurts more when you lose, but you lose less. I think it works out well.
I never use faction. I find the billions of isk it would cost me a waste for not much better than tech 2.

Edited by: MrMann on 12/03/2007 20:24:24 Due to recent losses my corp has me on the "Civilian Mods Only" plan.
<sniff>
As for the rest of our Corp however, it depends on what we are expecting to face. If it's just general Pirating, then fancy stuff is not needed given the damage output of the fleet as a whole. If we are going to look for a specific and dangerous target, well then we slap on the faction/T2 mods.
Different tools for different jobs.

If I fly faction nowadays, it's because I peeled the kit off of someone else or a rat.
That, or Shadow Serp warp disuptors that I bought myself. I love the little buggers.

I generally use T2 or "named stuff" (for instance, F-90's in favor of T2 sensor boosters). In many cases, "faction" is something to be looted and sold to some other sucker, imho.
If I fit faction at all, it's usually on something fairly durable, like a capital ship and even then, I do it sparingly.

If your using T1 in PVP expect the rest of us in T2 to be looting your wreck and sailing into the sunset (evegate, whatever..) Its pretty much mandatory to use T2 now days and the difference in ship ability is colossal, It might not look like that on the mods but the tiny little bonuses all add up. As for faction, I'm not that rich lol.

It all depends on what you're doing.
If your in a big fight, then faction/officer mods are usually a waste because if you get primaried there's a good chance you'll die regardless.
If your in a smaller gang, and you have a good idea of what your up against, or have good scouts then expensive mods can be a good choice.
Most PvP'ers aren't rich though, so fitting mods that far outweigh the value of your ship is usually foolish.
Also evaluate your chances of escaping when things go wrong. Putting awesome mods on a vagabond isn't usually a bad idea if you know what you're doing because you can usually escape gank squads, but the same kind of mods on an ishtar would probably be a bad idea since its slow and will probably just die if it falls into the trap of a ganksquad.

I use best named T1 as I can't use T2 apart from a few things. People saying that if they use T2 they will win? I have won one or two fights vs 2003 players who have full T2. Setups is the most important in my opinion.

NEVAR faction, for piratin honestly thats just stupid, idea is to make cash not lose it, so I try fit the ship with just what it needs no more no less, frigs usually t2 as t2 is relatively cheap fittins for a frig anyway, bigger ships occasingly depending if my wallet allows meh
