ok. i got about 2 mill sp in gunnery and i got battlecruiser at level V (have a guess where im going to) i also got medium hybrids to level V and next on the plan is to get tech 2 medium hybrids. oh and i hate battleships NOTE: THATS HATE. however i do use a domi to run missions but i still hate them
now. i dont have any sheild skills or missile skills but i want to have a fleet sniping platform. mainly becuse the MWDing brutix would get there too late due to all this primary this and primary that stuff going on in the fleet commanders mind.
so i thought. well why not fit railguns. however i rember that caldari are suppose to be the Rail masters of eve. and so i want to know if the Ferox is a decent enough railboat for decent ranges with high damage ammo. or should i just stcik with the brutix with decent range with lo damage ammo.

You're probably better off with the brutix... Granted it wouldn't be hard to train at all for a ferox, all you'll need is Caldari Cruiser 3 and you'll have a perfect one. Get both and try them out, see which one you like better. =P 20-30 mill isn't that much... and it's insurable/resellable
Cross training and having good shield skills may save you an extra 10 or 20 seconds of life in a fight though, even if you armor tank. Nothing wrong with having more HP to chew through.

Oh, the Ferox will give you range alright, especially with 250mm rails and if you fit a tracking enhancer / computer or two.
Whether you'll actually kill anything with that is an entirely other matter though.
Believe me: take the Brutix.

Harpy, or Eagle is a better fleet platform than the ferox imo. Brutix is kinda sorta ok in some situations in fleet.

what sort of range are you looking at with T2 rails on a ferox with BC 4-5 and a couple of tracking computers? ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder

For fleet ops the ferox is king in the battle cruisers in my opinion. Ferox easily obtains 120 to 130km range with a few tracking comps and battle cruiser 5 with spike ammo. Now granted, it won't do too much damage, but in a fleet there is no time to close to use blasters. By the time you reach the primary he is dead. Basically large amounts of sniping ships = insta pop to whatever the primary is. For small engagements, brutix is much better, but when you want a good fleet ship look no further then one of the many caldari sniping platforms.

yes my sig needs updateing.
cheers for the suggestions/comments people.
im just widening my broad range of skills so i can excell at something else other than bumping someone and then opening up blasters. or bumping someone and setting my drone onto people :P
and for fleet combat. bumping does not work so great.
