Edited by: Ruato on 13/03/2007 02:14:07 Ive been running lv4 missions for couple weeks, salvaging everything i kill. Havent used or sold any of them (EDIT: not hardcore mission farming, 3-4 missions per day when i have time to play).
Heres some stats about salvaging amounts:
Alloyed Tritanum Bar ... 71 Armor Plates ... 127 Broken Drone Transceiver ... 172 Burned Logic Circuit ... 675 Charred Micro Circuit ... 644 Conductive Polymer ... 194 Contamined Lorentz Fluid ... 263 Damaged Artifical neural Network ... 192 Defective Current Pump ... 22 ... (droprate) Fried Interface Circuit... 715 Malfunctioning Shield Emitter ... 170 Melted Capacitor Console ... 18... (droprate) Scorched telemetry Processor ... 171 Smashed Trigger Unit ... 164 Tangled Power Conduit ... 14 ... (droprate) Thruster Console ... 65 Tripped Power Circuit ... 614 Ward Console ... 111
As you can see, some of them are very very rare (which obviously makes rig prices way way too high.
If 3 rigs cost way more than your ship, something is terribly wrong. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

a lot of the rarer ones ive pulled out in large numbers out of low sec and 0.0 exploration sites - guess thats where the supply comes from

Well, the salvage kind of depends on what enemies you kill. Here is a little table with the different kinds: http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/salvaging.php
And then there are this database where you can compare your salvage amounts with others that have done the same missions. And many many other things related to salvaging & rigs: http://eve.podzone.net/wsdb/ ----- CCP: Please make ship loot to drop in a can next to the wrecks. Edit: On the test server you can now salvage wrecks with loot. After a succesfull salvage the loot is left in a jetcan. |

Salvage was increased once so far, and it is still not enough, prices are higher now on some items than they were before the first increase.
An increased drop rate by two orders of magnitude should bring the prices down enough to where putting rigs on frigs makes sense.
At the first increase, I thought it would be enough, but that has not proven to be the case. Now that salvage parts are small 0.01 m3, droping a couple hundred from small ships should not be a big burden ... unless it is metal scraps :) -AS |

The drop rate does not need to be booted at all. The issue is just as mining, what if there were only a third of the miners how adays? the mineral prices would be high for the low ends again and soon then higher then ever before.
The solution is for more people to salvage. More salvagers, especially in 0.0 with the better rats, will get more goods.
Side note, you can save sometimes 5mil from buying the parts and building yourself, if you are a industrialist.
