This is a storyline mission, supposedly "very important" to my standings. Part 10 looks like it could be a real bearcat, and get my Ferox killed many times. But, it also looks like it might be like Worlds Collide, where all you have to do is zip through the gates, blow up the control tower, rescue the princess and warp away. Anybody have any experience with this?

Yep you got it, you only have to blow the tower and get out (some nice loot in some of the structures, don't forget to bm them as you leave). There is lots of money to be had in the rest of the ships there mind, definitely worth doing if you can, take a corpmate or 2...

You probably do want to kill the two groups that are between you and the Control Tower first though. Also, make sure you loot the tower, though you can place a bm and come back after closing the mission if it gets hairy. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I did this in a cyclone (after losing one to the pesky mercs in one of the earlier stages).
You can sneak between the groups of BS until you are right on top of the tower. Hit it with everything youve got and stick your tank on. When it blows up, warp the hell out

The last time I ran this -preRevelations- the control tower dropped a +4 implant. I nearly lost a Raven shooting the group of BS's so I warped out, came back, flew past the control tower, destroyed it and wapred immediately. I ended the mission then came back and picked up the implant from the wreckage. The BS's have 100+km range and they do a lot of damage so take a corpmate to help you tank them or just blow the tower and run.

[EDIT] -- This in later. I ran this mission last night. It appears that it may have changed since Revelations. I had to fight my way through the first two pockets, on account of the acceleration gates wouldn't open until I had killed all the enemy. I had to warp out a couple of times in the first pocket. The second pocket was pretty easy. In the third pocket, the control tower beckoned to me, begging me to blow it up. There were many enemy ships hanging around, but none aggroed. So, I obliged the begging control tower and blew it up. And then every ship in the vicinity aggroed and my trusty Ferox was gone. I can't say that I wasn't warned. The mission briefing explicitly states that ships will aggro when the tower is blown. I thought that I could tank the aggro long enough to warp. Not so -- no warping out of this room before you go boom. So, there you go. It's a fight all the way. Remember to kill the enemy (or at least most of them) before you blow the tower.
Ouch, that bites. Sorry that I was unclear. You do have to clear the first pockets, but I haven't found them to be hard so I didn't even consider them.
In the last pocket with the control tower there'll be two groups you should kill first. One is close to the jump-in, and the other is very near the tower. After that, get yourself in your ideal range and aligned, bookmark a wreck just to be safe, and blow up the tower.
Again sorry, and better luck next time. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

well i did this in my wolf, and ofcourse killed the 2 groups before the tower, then i checked the big groups and decided against engaging =) (had killed 500k BS in L4 mission) but the 1M+ BS:s made me kill the tower, and then pick the loot and start to wonder when the ships would start to hit me anyway, well after all didn't wait too long as was afraid of web/scram flying to range, but sometimes pays to be small =)
------- Well atleast you don't have to type that name for invites or coms..... My buddies loved me in EQ2 i can tell you... |

I just did this mission last week, and it can be nasty. I did just as you did, fighting thru the first couple of deadspaces until the finish. When i got to the last room, I finished off the group around the tower. Then i flew past the tower in the opposite direction of the space station i wanted to dock at.
When I was lined up with the tower between me and where I was warping too, i opened up on the tower (while moving towards the space station). The tower went poof quick enough and I warped away 1/2 second later. The bs never had much of a chance to lock on to me. I hope this helps.

i have done this mission twice now with my amarr toon.
long and short blow the tower then warp. OR
move off to one side at range 40km+ towards one of the groups... get past them towards the warp out - typically sunward once 40+km past them agrro the frigs and fry em as they come in then the cruisers then the BS - warp if u need to only the group you agrroed will be active none will be active when u come back in rinse and repeat till one side is toast
next to the other side group rinse and repeat till dead
finnaly blow the ships in the centre
then blow the structures
one of the structures will drop a +3 implant (so far a +3 perc and a +3 mem for me)
the BS also drop nice loot too, few named guns, named expanders etc. all in all the BS alone are over 15mil or so alone in bounties, all in all very tasty for a level 3.
payout for the 10/10 is on par with most lvl 4s that pay well (such as worlds collide)

I managed to solo it with a Hype (warping out once when my concentration wandered and warping out once to get more ammo :P ), I pulled each BS group one at a time, then finally the tweor group.
I also popped the structures...
All in, it was a very profitable mission. Your Signature exceeds max allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels. Mail us if you have any questions -Eldo |

My thought exactly, totals over 10 mil in bounties and nice loot in the structure.
Well worth the time it takes to fly...
