The Assault On QR
The background
CVA have been waging a long standing war with the terrorist group Ushra'khan. Over the course of over three years there have been many ebbs and flow to this grand but constant struggle. Over the course of time, both of our alliances have grown and changed as the struggles of war took their toll.
With the assault on our peace loving neighours NOS alliance in the QBL pocket ( http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=486928 ) CVA decided that time had come to halt the terrorist expansion in the region. This report details the battle for QR-K85, which is located in the AZBG-H constellation in Holy Amarrian Providence.
Setting the scene
As many of you are aware the Ushra'khan terrorist alliance and their piratical Imperial Order allies have been assaulting our NOS alliance neighbours in Providence recently.
The highlight of this campaign was a major assault on QBL - a strategic NOS system. This assault was beaten off by combined NOS and Amarrian forces after four days of heavy fighting which resulted in the destruction of an Ushra'khan dreadnaught and three large Minmatar towers.
However, since that time Minmatar pilots have waged a war of hit and run terror in NOS space. The CVA and our Amarr allies assisted NOS where we could and indeed stepped up efforts against Ushra'khan and their Imperial Order lackeys.
But we felt more could be done.
It was time to go on a large scale offensive!
Picking the target
In a way the Minmatar terrorists picked our target for us. We had decided that a major blow needed to be struck against the Ushra'khan but were undecided about where that blow should land. However this - http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1382&tid=3 - made up our minds.
That the terrorists should honour one of their own is understandable but to name an Outpost after him in Holy Amarrian Providence was a step to far. We were determined that 'Karishal's Defiance' would become 'Karishal's Folly' - a message to all terrorists and would be terrorists that their cause is futile...
Ushra'khan had only recently take control of this system from ISS, the previous owners. Our initial scouting reported that there was a window of opportunity available if we moved fast before Ushra'khan consolidated their hold on the Outpost.
So with our target chosen the planning began!
Planning our conquest
Conquering an Outpost is not a task to be taken lightly. We knew that the Minmatars would defend 'Karishals's Folly' to the death. We therefore needed to let our Amarrian (and Ammatar) allies know about what was happening - without compromising mission security.
Our allies and indeed the majority of CVA members were kept in the dark about the target. They were informed what ships they needed to be in, they were informed where they needed to be and at what time. It is a sign of Amarrian unity that our members and allies were willing to put their faith in CVA fleet command to manage the operation properly.
Meanwhile the system was scouted and its defences identified. Five large terrorist towers defended the Outpost and sovereignty of the system. They were all hardened and well armed. This would not be a walk in the park.
The decision was taken to assault the Minmatar towers whilst simultaneously establishing an Amarrian foothold in the system in the form of large Amarrian towers.

The fleet
As the allocated hour drew near Amarrians and allies from across the Empire gathered at the assigned rendevous point. The fleet was a magnificent sight to behold. Over 100 ships of all shapes and sized (the majority golden Amarrian vessels) gathered together in an awesome show of power. As our fleet and wing commanders assigned responsibilities and duties throughout the fleet it became apparent that the Ushra'khan and their heretic allies would be hard pressed to match it - at least not on that night.
The first day
Please note for the purposes of this battle report each 'day' runs from downtime to downtime
As the fleet arrived in the destination system of QR it seemed that our security precautions had paid off with a mere handful of hostile terrorist pilots in the system. We immediately set to work engaging the first of the Minmatar towers. Other pilots started constructing an Amarrian foothold in the system while yet more set up interdictive patrols designed to prevent Minmatar reinforcements from accessing the system.
We soon heard word that the Minmatars were massing but due to a logistical hiccup (caused by the allocated transport pilot suffering two ship board system failures) we did not have interdiction bubbles at every gate as had been planned. This allowed a substantial number of Ushra'khan pilots to enter the system relatively unscathed.
Despite this the superior Amarrian numbers and planning meant that the Minmatar were forced to rely in fighter bombing tactics - which are no real threat to a properly organised fleet.
Over the course of the next 12 hours the CVA successfully put five large Minmatar towers into reinforced - destroying the first one to come out of reinforced in the morning. In addition, Amarrian logistical prowess proved itself with the construction of five large Amarrian deathstars. All of this was relatively unchallenged although the Minmatar did suffer heavy losses when they tried to jump a heavy duty support fleet into QR to assist their pilots already in the system. Over the course of the first 12 hours approximately 100 terrorist ships were destroyed (although a large number of these were small ships being used in fighter bomber raids). CVA and allied losses to this point were relatively light with most losses attributed to errors in ship control (pilots warping to wrong place at wrong time).
Day 2 of the assault
Just prior to downtime Ushra'khan forces successfully anchored and onlined another large tower in QR - making it their 6th structure in system. CVA and allied forces managed to identify the tower and put it into reinforced before it could be given any substantial armament or defences. Meanwhile other CVA forces continued interdiction operations throughout the system to prevent any large scale Ushra'khan operations. Throught the bulk of the day Ushra'khan forces varied from between 40 to 50 in the system but apart from some fighter bombing and sniping attempts no major engagment took place. CVA activity ensured that no further terrorist towers were constructed. CVA forces maintained a lock down on the system with bubbles on strategic gates and at the terrorist Outpost which were kept up for approximately 12 hours despite Ushra'khan assaults on them. A sixth large Amarrian tower was also constructed during this period.

Day 3 of the assault
The early part of the day passed uneventfully but forces on both sides were massed in preparation for the second Minamtar tower to come out of reinforced. A small fleet of NOS alliance pilots also entered the QR system and started interdiction operations at the Minmatar Outpost.
At the appropriate time a large fleet of CVA, Iron Pig and Amarrian allied capitals started their assault on the tower. This passed relatively uneventfully with the POS rapidly reduced to ruins. As it exploded Ushra'khan launched their largest fighter attack of the battle so far, attacking an Iron Pig dreadnought as it came out of siege mode. This attack was ultimately unsuccessful with numerous Minmatar frigate pilots losing their ships, and and a number of fighters. CVA forces successfully looted the abandoned Minmatar corporate hanger - boosting CVA supplies in system.
Throughout the day Minmatar terrorist resistance remained sporadic. The highlight of the evening shift was an attempt by pilots of the Star Fraction alliance (once again sticking their noses where they dont belong) to move into the QR system. This was preceeded by a a successful Minmatar attack on one of the CVA large interdiction bubbles. Utilising this opportunity four Star Fraction interceptors jumped in, but got caught in a CVA dictor bubble and slaughtered. With their scouts down the 17 Star Fraction battleships withdrew back to 9UY. Minmatar numbers in system continued to vary between 20 and 30 pilots with a similar number 2 jumps away in 9UY.
Overnight Amarr and Ammatar forces maintained their control of the system killing numerous unwary terrorists as they tried to enter, leave or move about the system. Special mention needs to go to CVA probers who tracked down a number of terrorists battleships after they had logged out.
A third Minmatar tower came out of reinforced at an extremely unhealthy hour of the morning. Nevertheless allied Amarr and Ammatar ships successfully engaged the POS with minimal Ushra'khan resistance. Highlight of the attack on this POS was a Minmatar Typhoon which attempted to attack allied capitals from the edge of the POS shield. Unfortunately for him, he was taken out by three laser bolts blessed by our Amarrian god.
Your Dual Giga Pulse Laser I is well aimed at Karn Mithralia [NKB]<UNITY>(Typhoon), inflicting 6931.7 damage.
Your Dual Giga Pulse Laser I is well aimed at Karn Mithralia [NKB]<UNITY>(Typhoon), inflicting 4988.2 damage.
Your Dual Giga Pulse Laser I places an excellent hit on Karn Mithralia [NKB]<UNITY>(Typhoon), inflicting 4238.1 damage
The third Minmatar POS was successfully destroyed leaving Ushra'khan with three towers remaining - all in reinforced. As the day came to a close virtually every Ushra'khan pilot vacated the QR system.
However, it was clear that the terrorists were aiming for a counterattack with pilots from the Star Fraction, Chaos Incarnate and Imperial Order alliances massing in nearby 9UY! From our perspective it seemed like the terrorist's last throw of the dice - calling in support from pirates and anarchist alliances in a desperate attempt to hang on to 'Karishal's Folly'. We awaited their next move with anticipation.

Up to this point in the campaign CVA and allied losses had been light. The following statistics are from the CVA killboard. I make no claim for 100% accuracy as they do not necessarily reflect all allied (PIE, Aegis Militia, NOS, Delictum, VV) losses or kills - nor are all CVA losses/kills necessarily posted (although the vast majority are). What they do provide is an interesting snapshot of the QR campaign to date...
Assault Frigates: Kills 13 - Losses 0 Battlescruiser: Kills 12 - Losses 0 Battleship: Kills 16 - Losses 6 Capsule: Kills 155 - Losses 1 Covert Ops: Kills 2 - Losses 0 Cruiser: Kills 31 - Losses 1 Destroyer: 10 - Losses 0 Frigate: Kills 93 - Losses 1 Industrial: Kills 2 - Losses 2 Interceptor: Kills 19 - Losses 4 Recon Ship: Kills 1 - Losses 0 Shuttle: Kills 12 - Losses 1
Total: Kills (including pods) 372 - Losses (including pods) 15
Allied Amarrian losses are definitely higher than this due to terrorist kills on non-CVA corps/alliances - however, this still wouldn't make a dramatic difference as CVA pilots made up the largest grouping of allied pilots in QR and surrounding system. The high number of capsule kills is reflective of the number of bubbles being deployed by allied forces. CVA losses on this are probably not very accurate as getting people to post pod losses is an ongoing project...

Day 4 of the assault
The day started with the puzzling evacuation of terrorist forces from QR. Despite this CVA maintained interdiction operations in the system. Two terrorist towers were scheduled to come out of reinforced during the course of the day. The first of these (the fourth tower in total) came out of reinforced and was swiftly reduced by Amarrian forces with limited opposition. The CVA swiftly erected a small tower in the place of the former hostile POS - with this tower subsequently gaining three kills (two battleships) later in the day.
Despite these successes Ushra'khan were massing allies in 9UY and it looked like a serious attempt was going to be made to put a spoke in Amarrian plans.
By now the universe was alerted to the struggle in the system as the EVE Tribune published a story about it ( http://www.eve-tribune.com/index.php?no=2_11&page=2 ) which was followed shortly thereafter by this terrorist rallying cry ( http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=489965 ). It was clear the Minmatar's were desperate and calling in disreputable allies from all corners of the universe.
As the day wore on more and more terrorists (Ushra'khan / Electus Matari), pirates (Imperial Order / Chaos Incarnate) and anarchists (Star Fraction) massed up in 9UY ready for the counterattack on CVA and allies. As the time approached for the fifth Minmatar tower to come out of reinforced total hostile forces in 9UY numbers well over 100 pilots including approximately 25 capital class ships.
The CVA responded to this with a general call to arms. Once again our friends responded magnificently and around 90 allied pilots awaited the terrorist counterattack, with additional reinforcements from NOS alliance enroute to the QR system. In a series of hit and run raids the Minmatars succeeded in destroying CVA large bubbles deployed at the gates to the system.
The enemy fleet split into two groups and moved to two separate gates into QR. CVA fleet command decided to engage the smaller of the two hostile fleets as it jumped in - scoring approximately 20 kills in the process for a couple of allied losses. Examination of enemy battleships wrecks suggested that they were setup with NOS and Neuts - clearly indicating the terrorist plan to kill some of our capitals when we assaulted the tower.
By now local in QR had risen to approximately 240 pilots - split fairly equally between the Amarrian and terrorist factions. After some debate the allied wing decided to risk the attack - banking on the support of the reminder of the fleet to keep the terroist assault at bay. Fortunately the fifth Minmatar tower to come out of reinforced was the same one that CVA has managed to put into reinforced in Day 2 before it could be equipped with defences. As a result we were able to keep close range support with our capitals.
Shortly after engaging the POS the expected attack arrived in the shape of a huge fighter bomber group warping in at close range. This was followed in by an enemy sniper fleet. As our close range support engaged enemy fighters and ships a CVA dictor successfully bubbled the terrorist sniper group. As a result allied support was able to rapidly devastate the enemy sniper squadron. Meanwhile the ships assigning the fighters had been caught in another CVA dictor bubble and were also being slaughtered.
As the end of this engagement around 40 enemy wrecks littered the battlefield with only two allied wrecks keeping them company. With the assault over CVA dreads continued the destruction of the fifth large Minmatar tower which exploded most satisfactorily. Not only that but the Minmatars had left an unpiloted Tempest at the POS which was quickly assigned to a loyal Ammatar pilot to use against his misguided brothers.

Day 4 of the assault (continued)
It was at this stage that misfortune struck the allied fleet. One of our dread pilots had warped back to our POS and then suffered an horrendous system failure that crashed all his shipboard systems. Unfortunately CVA pilots were not alerted to this fact and our canny enemy succeeded in probing out the Revelation class dreadnought (which had an aggro timer) whilst the pilot struggled to regain control. This was the most significant loss to allied forces since the beginning of the campaign in QR.
Despite this loss allied forces continued to interdict the system - catching unwary terrorists, pirates and anarchists at various locations throughout the system. As CVA numbers started to dwindle as the evening wore on the terrorists became more bold - launching a series of massive fighter bomb attacks on allied forces patrolling the UH gate in QR. These tactics proved relatively ineffective as CVA became more adept at dealing with them. Over 70 terrorists ships were destroyed in these attacks - many cheaply fitted frigate class - but also many battleships and cruisers in the initial stages. Numerous terrorist fighters were also lost as they tried in vain to break the Amarrian and Ammatar stranglehold on the system.
The carnage amongst the terrorists was huge. These two images give some idea of losses in the system over the course of these assaults and the vast majority of these were terrorists.
http://eve-files.com/dl/93792
http://eve-files.com/dl/93795
With only 1 POS (in reinforced) remaining in their hands the Minmatars began to take advantage of falling CVA numbers to put up new towers. CVA successfully interdicted a large tower before it could go online and blew it up (the 6th large tower loss for the terrorists of the campaign). Another large tower was successfully onlined but immediately put into reinforced by CVA and allies (including NOS, Delictum, PIE, Aegis Militia and VV) before any defences could be onlined. Whilst CVA were dealing with these two towers another large Minmatar POS was erected, onlined and fitted with more sturdy defences. CVA forces moved to engage this tower and successfully put it into reinforced despite a number of fighter bombing attempts. Despite horrendous casualties in terms of ships, capsules and fighters the terrorists continued to persist in their kamikaze attacks which were mostly unsuccessful but did score the occasional kill.
As the day drew to its close the second of the new large towers came out of reinforced and was destroyed successfully by allied forces without little opposition. The campaign to reclaim Karishal's Folly was one step closer to success.
By now the Minmatar foothold had been reduced to two large POSes both in reinforced. Seven large Minmatar towers had now been destroyed over the course of the siege. It had been an extremely long hard fought day and, with the exception of the Dreadnought loss, a very good one for Amarrian forces.
Despite the substantial intervention of the Chaos Incarnate, Star Fraction, Electus Matari and Imperial Order alliances on the terrorist side they had not successfully defended a single POS let alone attacked an Amarrian one. It was clear that unless something dramatic happened the Amarrians would gain sovereignty of the system and Outpost within the week.
After four days of Amarrian preaching in local even the terrorists were beginning to have doubts about their cause:
Chungito > If i give myself up and wear your chains, will you spare my family?
So ended day four of the attack!

Day 5 of the assault
From the Amarrian perspective it seemed that the losses of the previous day had broken the Minmatar's willingness to resist as their activity in the QR system dropped substantially. Had they resigned themselves to losing 'Karishal's Defiance' to the Amarrian paramilitaries?
Apart from a few minor skirmishes the day was generally uneventful - however CVA and allied forces began to mass in preparation for the attack on the last of Ushra'khan's original towers. A mere handful of terrorists and their allies remained in QR and scouts reported that 9UY was also strangely quiet. Was some elaborate trap about to be sprung?
Readying themselves for action the Amarrian capital fleet assaulted the Minmatar tower when it came out of reinforced mode and it was swiftly destroyed without resistance. Fortunately the terrorists had not had the forethought to empty the corporate hanger array and as a result the CVA siezed approximately 110,000 Liquid Ozone - something which our logistics pilots greatly appreciated. After the Tempest the day before it seemed that the Minmatar's were deliberately leaving tribute for us!
With the destruction of this POS the Minmatar's were reduced to one final tower in the system which was also in reinforced mode. Unfortunately for us this had been stocked with a large supply of strontium and as a result would not come out of reinforced for another 36 hours. At this stage eight large Minmatar towers had been destroyed in the course of the assault.
Anxious to prevent further Minmatar towers being erected CVA and allied forces maintained their interdiction of the system. Unless something drastic was about to happen 'Karishal's Defiance' would soon become 'Karishal's Folly' and a lasting message to Minmatar everywhere that their future lies in Amarrian hands!

Day 6 of the assault
As day six dawned the CVA received word that Ushra'khan's grip on soveriegnty in the QR system had finally fallen.
Amarrian and Ammatar forces began their assault on the station which was met with no inspace opposition ( http://eve-files.com/dl/93794 ) ( http://eve-files.com/dl/93796 ). Eventually the Outpost's shields dropped allowing Amarrian boarding parties to storm aboard.
A fierce firefight occured as Amarrian marines ( http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/5654/amarrpropagandajv1.jpg - Image produced by capsuleer pilot Leon ) engaged diehard terrorist sympathisers. After a couple of hours Minmatar resistance is finally eliminated.
This desciption of the post battle scene comes from an Amarrian squad Captain:
I see a blasted doorway, smouldering from rocket impacts and scarred by laser fire. Arching above a large inscription reads: "Here lies Karishal Muritor, leader of the Defiants". The interior of this room is truly a mess... dozens of terrorists made their last stand in the tomb before they were put down by the advancing Kameiras and their Amarrian leaders. I give my rifle and helmet to my Lieutenant, bend down, pick up a battered datapad splattered in blood. It's still on, open on the personal log entry. I start to read:
"We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the remembrance circle, and the second hall. Eirulf and Guvera and Ensi fell there... We have barred the entance, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes... explosions, explosions... they are coming."
Kurishal Muritor's corpse had been removed from the tomb. Amarrian boarding parties are searching the station as I write.
As CVA forces took command of the former Minmatar Outpost their first step is to change its name. Karishal's Defiance becomes Karishal's Folly as a message to every Minmatar in the galaxy. The path to terrorism is the path to death and defeat. Accept the mercy of Amarr, accept our benevolent enlightenment and let us raise your race from the squalor it now occupies. In addition an appropriate passage of scripture is chosen to describe the station so that all who travel through QR may learn something of the Amarr.
Casting his sight on his realm, the Lord witnessed The cascade of evil, the torrents of war. Burning with wrath, He stepped down from the Heavens To judge the unworthy, To redeem the pure.
- The Scriptures, Revelation Verses 2:12
The Future of Karishal's Defiance
Following the capture of the station Amarr forces swiftly went to work restoring it to working order and rectifying all damage incurred during the siege. As most of you know the CVA operates a NRDS policy (Not Red Don't Shoot). We actively encourage decent law abiding pilots to manufacture, trade, mine or hunt in our space provided they abide by our no-piracy rules.
It is our eventual goal to have the entirety of Amarrian Providence 'reclaimed' by the Empire and as such we seek to encourage honest business in the area. If you are tempted to move to CVA patrolled space then it would be wise to seek out a CVA diplomat in advance to ensure that you are not on our KOS list due to the past actions of your corporation or alliance.

The Conclusion
With the station taken the CVA and its Ammatar and Amarrian allies have struck a heavy blow against the forces of Minmatar terrorism - probably the heaviest blow of our three year war so far. However, we do not fool ourselves that this conflict is over. As a famous war leader once wrote: This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning..
The Minmatars will no doubt be planning their revenge and have one remaining tower (in reinforced) in the QR system which is scheduled for destruction tomorrow.
Now onto some statistics. But before I do that I am going to put some disclaimers on these. They are not 100% accurate and we do not claim them to be.
They are an overall snapshot of the siege which should give a general impression of how it went. The statistics here are taken off the CVA killboard and they also include Vigilia Valeria and Delictum kills and losses. We do generally post the vast majority of our deaths. However a lot of people do slack off on posting pod losses (partly because there is no compensation for them  ). The figures do not include kills and losses from some of our other allies such as NOS and PIE and as such the actual kills/losses will be slightly higher than those reported here. Neverthless these stats are fairly representative as CVA forces did provide the majority of manpower in the Amarr/Ammatar coalition. These stats are taken purely from the QR system and the four neighbouring systems.
Overall kills and losses (over 6 days)
Assault Frigates: Kills 20 - Losses 1 Battlescruiser: Kills 37 - Losses 0 Battleship: Kills 58 - Losses 8 Capsule: Kills 299 - Losses 17 (please read disclaimer on CVA pod losses above) Covert Ops: Kills 5 - Losses 0 Cruiser: Kills 57 - Losses 1 Destroyer: Kills 17 - Losses 0 Dreadnought: Kills 0 - Losses 1 Frigate: Kills 203 - Losses 7 Industrial: Kills 3 - Losses 2 Interceptor: Kills 38 - Losses 16 Interdictor: Kills 4 - Losses 4 Recon Ship: Kills 1 - Losses 1 Shuttle: Kills 23 - Losses 1
Total: Kills (including pods) 770 - Losses (including pods) 56
To break this down slightly further here are the figures for the three main players involved in the QR system defence:
Ushra'khan Losses 511 (204 pods) - Involved on 56 CVA losses
Imperial Order Losses 94 (28 pods) - Involved on 17 CVA losses
Star Fraction Losses 91 (25 pods) - Involved on 14 CVA losses
Other participants on the Minmatar side but in smaller numbers were Electus Matari (alliance), NMTZ (alliance) Chaos Incarnate (alliance), Fimbulwinter (alliance) and a variety of other corps and individuals including 'The Littlest Hobos' (corp).
The Amarr/Ammatar coalition was made up of the following players: The Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA) (Amarr alliance), Vigilia Valeria (Amarr alliance), Novus Ordos Seclorum (NOS) (Providence alliance), Aegis Milita (Amarrian corp), Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris (PIE) (Amarr corp), Delictum (Ammatar corp) and s3verance (an anti-pirate corp based in Amarrian low-sec corp) + other assorted Providence individuals and corps who approve of the CVA's law bringing operations.
An honourable mention must go to the small 'POS that can' erected by CVA pilot Ethidium Bromide in the place of one of the downed Minmatar towers. It successfully claimed six kills all of its own (including three battleships) and for a short time on Monday (when CVA killboard is refreshed for new week) actually lead the CVA kill ranking

Finally onto thanks
Firstly - great respect to our opponents. We certainly caught them napping and afterwards learned that not only were their main FC away when we struck, they had also had a loss of forums, and even their Teamspeak crashed when they tried to form their massive counterattack on Day Four. Nevertheless they pushed us hard and gave us many challenges in capturing this Outpost. Local was generally good natured RP (with a few exceptions). The never say die Minmatar attitude was also impressive as wave after wave of their pilots threw themselves at us again and again despite horrendous losses. While we do not respect their terrorist ideology we can respect their fighting spirit. When they are finally 'uplifted and enlightened' (after a few millennia learning discipline as slaves ) the Minmatar race will certainly make a valuable addition to the Amarrian Empire!
Secondly, much love to our allies. Apart from CVA high command no one knew anything apart from the fact that there was going to be a huge operation launched on a Friday and what ships to bring. Despite this our allies put their trust in us and the determination and fanaticism they put into this fight matched that of the keenest CVA pilots. We certainly hope that they had as much fun as we had and look forward to woking with them again in future - whether that is crushing more terrorists or eliminating pirates throughout Amarrian space.
Thirdly, on a personal note I want to thank my comrades in the CVA. Everyone contributed in their own way from our frontline combat pilots putting in excessively long shifts to those who put so much time into planning this attack and putting the logistics in place to support it! It made me proud to be Amarrian and proud to be CVA.
I just want to sum up with the following words:

Terrific write-up, Hardin (can I say that as a CVA member? Biased I'm sure...) It really puts into perspective the days blending one into another as I managed to be there for every tower that came out of reinforced during graveyard hours (0700 Eve time and what-not.) Nice to look at the whole big picture and see how it went down from start to finish.
Certainly something to look back on and feel satisfied about.

Id try chocolate instead, or chocolate and strawberries even, it would appeal more to the Amarrian enjoyment of decadence.
Quote: No surprise here, UK is garbage. I'd say gl CVA, but I highly doubt you'll need it.
I would like to suggest that people do not do themselves any favors by demeaning the effort U'K put into their defense or the accomplishment of the CVA in planning and carrying out this campaign with further comments of this nature. Comments like the above just make their authors look petty.

We showed up friday ready for anything, and it wasn't until we were moving that our objective was revealed. And once that happened there was an electricity to the whole thing. I found myself up at deeply odd hours ready to protect our cap fleet, Listening to the vets on Vent when the system was quiet, and generally be on waaaaaay more then I am normally.
All and all this whole operation, from drawing board to execution exemplifies why I love flying with CVA. To paraphrase Garreck: I will fly with CVA/CJEVE til the servers shut down. Seriously I couldn't, at this point imagine playing EVE with any other group of folks.
What else can I say about it: The plan was sound. Our FC's were great. Our morale very high. We moved as a unit. I cannot say enough about our allies; simply fantastic! And ofc to U'K nothing but respect.

okay, either you read it, in which case you are an idiot for reading 9 posts of something you don't give a flip about. Or you didn't read it, in which case you are an idiot for assuming it was a waste of time.
Though, I do give you one thing, the right forum for this would be Seleene's suggested battle report forum. Let's have it then!

Hahaha. Well to me it's like watching a movie. I watch a movie for the story and to escape from the rigours of daily life for an hour and a half. Same when I sit down to play Eve. My part in the story of Eve is more important to my enjoyment than the amount of ISK in my wallet or my kill ratio.
Some people go to watch a movie to look at the set, comment on the actors abilities and couldn't give a toss about the plot. Same with Eve, just space invaders with a built in IRC client and MP3 player.
Each to their own.
Although I must say I understand it when someone down the pub calls me a weirdo or nerd cos I play games. When somebody mocks roleplayers in an internet game forum about the level of immersion they choose to play a game at it's just flat out hilarious.
When I can convert my ISK to $ (legally) then maybe I'll take the game that seriously (or probably stop playing). Until then Telemicus Thrace is a character I play in this little space opera. He may hate the slavers, doesn't mean I hate the players, who are just like me, behind those characters.
That is probably the overriding difference between RPers and non-RPers. We have a clear distinction between the game world and the real world. You can blow my stuff up in game and I'll still buy you a pint at fanfest. Probably why there is so little vitriol in this thread between the combatants.
Anyway, I have contributed too much to this thread derailment. I think Seleene was right about a War Report forum where we can do decent write-ups without having to stay purely in character.
It was interesting to read about it all from the CVA camps perspective. Again, well played but it ain't over yet.

Commas dear boy, commas...
I understand that some people such as the gentleman I quoted may have certain problems with literacy that makes reading more than a paragraph a challenge in itself.
If it helps, I am faced with a similar challenge when attempting to decypher the posts of those which cannot quite grasp the art of punctuation.

While I could focus on the myriad things that went wrong on the U'K side, I think I'll try and stay positive today .
The Amarrian FCs knew their stuff, they had combined arms from snipers to support to cover that ensured there weren't many obvious holes in their defense, and kept themselves protected against the inevitable lag. A prime example of what the close range group warped into, without pre-loading (lol ) could be found here, - it wasn't a fancy fleet but it got the job done. Definitely the most challenge we've had in awhile, was fun to match wits with a comparable opponent that had the power to kill us all for a change.
With regards to SF forces, I have to say I'm very proud of our guys and girls - from the willingness of our individual pilots to volunteer their time, ships, pods, and sanity to aid in the defense of the system makes me proud to be one of their directors. The endurance shown by them even after a modern-day Charge of the Heavy Brigade into your fleet was fantastic, its a great time to be a Fractionist and to see what the future holds for us.

Excellent storytelling there Karn
I was sitting at a friendly POS counting stars waiting for the "POS down" comment from the Cap pilots. So when it was relayed that Mikkel had shot a typhoon, it made us smile, but it became just another kill on the boards.
BUT, with your awesome report of ONE pilots perspective makes it very vivid, and adds color to the otherwise cold and harsh vacum of space.
CVA and UK pilots has both made local chat a enjoyable expirirence.
The hourlong speeches from our Amarrian preachers, and the witty and stinging rebuttals from UK and allies made me laugh more than once.
It was a complete expirience that made me willingly give up sleep for 90% of the siege (fell asleep at work many times tho ) This is why I will play EVE until they shut down the servers!

Although I lack the tactical knowledge to really assess the grandness of this victory I do understand that this must be a devastating blow to our adversaries.
Not being satisfied with standing at the sideline, I'm hoping that some day, when my battle readiness is more on par with what's needed, I will be able to join in on this struggle and help to secure a complete victory for the Emperor.

Well done to the evil invasion force of religious fanatics. Great battle report too, fully displaying the ineptitude of the defending forces, why some of them didn't even lock targets when they jumped in, we must have been like sitting ducks.
Ahem.
How anyone can be expected to defend space if every time we jump into the enemy fleet we get a 3 minute lock up and FPS of about... 1 every 30 seconds.
This is of course, not the drooling slavers fault, but it does make this kind of fleet engagement rather pointless.
I look forward to engaging CVA pilots in the upcoming weeks with a more respectable frame rate.
Well... i hope to anyway.

As the first Imperial Order representative to post in this topic, I'd like to say thanks to all that came to help. It was nice to meet new people and fight alongside them, and speak to them on our comms, and learn from their experience.
What I have to say next is going to be from my own personal comments. They do not reflect everyone else in the Imperial Order:
I am still deeply saddened by the events that took place on Monday. I was there all day, and when I finally snapped out of my trance it was dark, my legs hurt from not moving, and I felt actual depression from what happened. This isn't something I like.
At the beginning of the assault, I was asked by EveJoker to command the fleet out of 9UY to QR. I pray I did an adequate job, but this goes to show the lack of U'K command available. I have decent fleet command experience, with gangs of 20 or less. To lead 120 people to a fight was mind blowing. I quickly pulled a plan together in my head, and with the help of Calon and EveJoker running interference, got most of our fleet safely into the system. Some orders were botched, and not all were able to warp off before the molasses hit the gate. Calon's force entered unscathed (which was the smaller force, Hardin. You engaged the larger).
We clearly, CLEARLY, had a superior force. The fact that we lost was a blow to morale, to be sure. I lost two ships without firing a shot (lag), and was shaken. I needed to walk away from EVE. But just before, I heard we had secured a hostile Revelation and it was being destroyed. That was my RedBull of morale that kept me going for a little while longer. Soon after I lost another ship, more attacks were done with barely any hostile casualties, with most of our force being wiped every time. Thankfully Vampire Lord had come on at this time and he took some control, leading some guerilla attacks that were decently effective. At the least, did not lead to a complete loss on our side. I tagged out and went to do something else.
I no longer have the ISK or the willpower to continue at this rate. With the rapid fall of Karishal's Defiance, I fear for the future.

Have no fear, Muritor will return to the station named for him.
After searching the station thoroughly Amarrian forces did not locate the corpse of Karishal Muritor so we have to assume the information provided by the terrorist above is accurate and that they have indeed 'spirited' (forgive the pun) his corpse away.
However, I am pleased to report that CVA sovereignty over the system was confirmed this morning and that the final large Minmatar tower in the system was destroyed a short time ago.

While my path has led me away from the core principles of the Navy, and those endeared by the Holders, I have always watched from afar with great admiration the successes of the CVA and other auxiliary forces. It is great to know you are still actively expanding the EmpireÆs influence, but I fear that multi-culturalism is here to stay within the Eve cluster. Maybe my path will lead me back from the mercenary life to that of prosecution and redemption, but I fear it will not.
I shall salute your victory today, and wish you well in future battles that are sure to come!
Contego CVA!

I hate stuff like that. Makes me real glad Im not involved on either side in 'Kill BoB'. The lag is bad enough with 100 people on a side.
- Hey, why did you guys order us to jump to a moon where there are no hostiles? - The first one to see anything call targets (1-3 minutes passing) - I see lots of hostiles! My screen is kinda...um...locked. (1 fps each 30 sec) - Am I dead yet? I got a deathmail for both ship and pod but I still see my ship on the screen.
Fully agree with you Gaven, this is why I hate any kind of fleetbattle.
Oh yeah, great write-up Hardin!

On the subject of laggy fleetbattles, this siege taught me to optimize FPS a lot, I was left no choice in the matter. Tweaking hardware etc can really speed up EvE, so in the end during those 100 ship showdowns I actually had a framerate of 1-2 pr sec ;) ----------------------------------------------

Well the Dread was our biggest loss of the campaign although to be honest we had expected to lose much more - particularly on Day 4 with the hostile 120 strong (25 cap ship) fleet in local.
As detailed in the report the dread pilot has been shooting the POS and then warped back to one of our POSes at which point he CTD'd. Unfortunately (not detailed in the report) si that as a parent he then had a rl issue with one of his children to deal with so he did not try to log back in immediately. When he did he found himself back in his cloning station going 'wtf'?
Unfortunately, as he was not on vent at the time we had no idea that this had crash occured. Indeed that was why when you started telling us in local that you had killed one of our dreads we were so insistent on denying it.
If we had known he had crashed we would have probed and protected him ourselves - as we did on a few other occasions over the siege when capitals CTD'd.
Fortunately, the Dread pilot was back in a new dread the next day and was busily shooting another Ushra'khan tower when he realised that he had forgotten to update his clone!
At that point we told him to leave siege and created a cyno out of the warzone for him T'was the safest option

Thank you all for nice comments. I wrote the battle report each day as the events happened - kinda like a war diary - so at the end it was just a case of some serious editing.
Since the end of the QR siege things have settled down again in Providence as forces on both sides of the terrorist/loyalist side divide regroup. However, there was an interesting battle in 9UY tonight involving the loss of a terrorist dread and 65 other ships (including pods) outside the remaining Minmatar Outpost - unfortunately I missed it due to technical issues
CVA will not rest until the forces of terrorism and piracy are purged from Amarrian Providence.

Karishal's Folly - BATTLE UPDATE
Since the the CVA and Amarrian allies captured Karishal's Folly Minmatar terrorist forces have made a number of attempts to regain a foothold in the system.
Over the course of the week four new terrorist POSes were constructed in the QR system (three large and one medium).
The first large tower was destroyed before it could be properly fitted and onlined. The second large tower was onlined although it was quickly put into reinforced by the CVA. The terrorists did make an attempt to defend this tower earlier this week but were unsuccessful and it was destroyed.
The terrorists also constructed and onlined a thrid large tower. This was put into reinforced mode by the CVA, which it came out of this evening.
As Amarrian Dreads started their assault on this tower the Minmatar terrorists launched their largest attack so far with 8 capital ships (7 dreads and 1 carrier) jumping straight into the sieging CVA fleet accompanied by a large group of NOS/Neut equipped BS support.
The terrorists suceeded in destroying a CVA Phoenix Dreadnaught rather rapidly however CVA's support fleet swiftly arrived on the scene to turn the tables (despite taking heavy casualties from the POS).
Four terrorist dreads were destroyed in the engagement (2 x Moros / 2 x Naglafar) and the Minmatar attack was beaten off. Losses on the Minmatar side were running at approximately 80 vessels (including pods) with around 25 allied Amarrian losses.
The POS was successfully destroyed, as was another medium tower constructed earlier today which was blown up before it could be fueled.
In addition to the activities in QR, CVA forces have responded to the continued Minmatar terrorist aggression by assaulting and destroying two industrial POSes in the neighbouring system of UH which is the system located between QR (Karishal's Folly - CVA) and 9UY (Unity Station - Ushra'khan).

You forgot to mention the second group who helped you.
Sev3rance
They provided half of your capital fleet. We were outnumbered and outgunned and went in for glory and honor.
We of course lost with 2 to 1 odds in their favor.
And Lag, as always, was a HUGE issue.
CVA did not win this battle alone.
I just find it convienent you left those guys out your report when they comprised half of your major assault force.
At least tell the whole truth now That and im sure they feel left out of your "glorious" report
We Lost. . .But not to CVA alone
The battle is lost not the war. . .
Too bad about the collapse of the future after this. . .

Due to other posts on COAD or the Summit, the ralling cry, we thought it best to be prepared for more than just UK, just as last time there were Choas Incarnate, SF, EM, IO we could not be sure who or what would be coming. Who when the last POS went down last weekend numbered approx 28 capital ships in total (when we indeed stragetically less numbers at that time in capitals).
I will say there was lag on both sides, and if indeed that was the case Maggot it did ruin a well fought fight.
Hardin reported 7 dreads it was actually 8 dreads and no carriers on uk part. CVA inital capital Ships numbered aproxx 8 with another 4 or so other capatials from our mates in 7. We did have more capitals get involved as the battle went along, making it swing heavily in our favor.

The battle is lost not the war. . .
Too bad about the collapse of the future after this. . .
Firstly, I did give s3verance/Iron Pig credit in my original 'battle report' post as I did also to PIE, Vigilia Valeria, Aegis Militia, Delictum and all other groups who participated. I just assumed that people would therefore realise that when I mentioned 'Amarrian Dreads' I was referring to CVA and allies.
However, I agree it was worded ambiguously and with too much CVA emphasis. It was not done purposely but simply because I was tired when I wrote it and probably didn't word it as clearly as I should.
For the record s3verance/Iron Pig were not new players in this. As mentioned they also assisted in the original attack.
Just so people don't think CVA have just recruited people randomly for this assault I will briefly explain our relationship with s3verance/Iron Pig. In addition to our anti-terrorist role, the CVA also does a lot of anti-pirate work in low-sec Amarrian space. One region we have had an interest in is the Sukanen constellation - original home to one of CVA's main corps.
In our operations in Sukanen the CVA has worked with s3verance and other anti-pirates for well over a year. About 3 months ago Davlin Lotze started using his mothership to pirate at gates in the region using two deathstar POS for shelter. The CVA went up to Sukanen in force and assisted the local anti-pirates including s3verance/Iron Pig to blow up those POSes. As a result Davlin left the area - subsequently joining Imperial Order in his quest to get revenge on CVA.
Regarding Maggot and Sykosys' comeback well:
1) I am sad that you had Dreads which crashed in the battle however lag doesn't chose sides. It was unfortunate for you that it seemd to effect your fleet worse than it did ours (although the fact that we had more capitals probably masked the issues that our pilots were also having).
2) With regard to number yes we had more Capitals than you last night (although many only joined the combat as it progressed). We do not normally consult our enemies when planning ops. Ushra'khan and allies fielded 25 capitals during the first attack on QR - from our point of view we had to take this into account when putting our own Capitals on the line.
Not only that but your alliance (well sympathisers anyway) put out a general call to arms on both CAOD and IGS - how are we expected to have any idea about what is and isn't likely to show up?
3) Contrary to the impression being given you were not massively outnumbered (at least not at the start) and had the advantage of engaging us in front of a very hostile POS. Clearly your attack was ballsy and was indeed rewarded with one Dread kill (however even that may have been avoided in different circumstances - suffice to say we enjoyed our own piece of bad luck on that one!).
Lag obviously played a part but from what I was told the speed that your NOS/Neut fleet was dying to our close range support and snipers meant a different outcome was unlikely. Indeed the fact that a couple of our own scramblers crashed with lag issues may have saved your Dreads from complete anhiliation.
Unfortunately we shall never know either way - which at the end of the day is so often the case with fleet warfare in EVE. If, maybe's and but's are not exactly the stuff of battle report legend!
