Edited by: J''Dee on 15/03/2007 07:41:10 Good day,
Many of players may find this ability very useful. Imagine if some guy has 500 different modules. And he needs to fit up a ship. For me it takes MUCH MUCH longer that i could have been taking if we had some kind of "folders". For example i could put every item that affects armor into "Armor" folder(or give the folder any other name). Armor repairers, armor rigs, hardeners, membranes and other modules could go there.
By the other hand, folders could be used in this way (just a tree with sub levels(every folder level marked with "\" sign and folder name taken into quotes)):
\"Trading" - \"Minerals" - - Megacyte - - Zydrine - - Nocx - \"Blueprints" - \"Ammo" - \"Shield Modules" \"Ship fitting stuff" - \"Ammo" - \"Guns" - \"Armor hardeners" \"Looted" - all loot goes here
As you may notice, this structure will get rid of hundred of items placed into one window and make station hangar be more rational. Of course there are containers that we can even put into haulers cargo. But what if i have 10000m^3 and i cannot get a freight cargo container in station where i have all my loot? Of course we can find a way out like train skills and earn money to get a freighter or place a courier contract, but it will take lots of time and undesired problems.
As far as i know there are corp hangars, but they also don't have such functionality. It would be really great to have it with following features: - Dragging folders. Ability to drag folders from 1 place to another. If another place is ship's cargo hold and it cannot fit that much cargo, then regular window pops with choosing amount of times that are about to be loaded into ship. Placing folder into ships cargo doesn't get rid of folder. It places folder with truncated if needed items in it. - Making folder inside of folder let's say till 10 levels. I don't think that someone will use 10 levels.
So people, what do you think?

It's a good idea. I would suggest it simply be another view. Right now there are three views, Icons, list and, list with icons. "Folder" could simply be another view that seperates items based on thier position in the market.
If this view was incorporated into the existing code, which works for cans, hangars and what not, then it should only have to be done once can can apply to everything, including ship holds.
On a sie note, you can use the list view and sort by type, which in some ways gives what you're asking for, but not exactly. -AS |

Yes, it could be as another view. Sorting by type still doesn't decrease the amount of items displayed in 1 window. This is the point...
Thanks for the replay.

Edited by: Tony Benn on 15/03/2007 13:50:02 Log onto singularity, change your hangar view type to the "long list" and look at what appears...
I think that'll satisfy you ;)

Very good idea. I think thats what cargo containers are for, but they're not at every station :(
Sorting by type like your My Documents, C: drive, CD Drive etc icons do in My Computer of Windows.. That would be sweet

Corporation hangars have 7 divisions. I'd like to see the same thing for personal hangars.

I'm not sure about "divisions" because it's still limited and no option to make custom and multi-level ones.

Station Container 1,000,000 m^3, usually 19k ISK, base price 10k ISK, build by every corp, haven't seen a NPC station that doesn't sell them.
Station Vault, 10,000,000 m^3, base price 100k ISK.
Station Warehouse, 100,000,000 m^3, base price 1,000k ISK.
Still, it would be nice to have folders.

This really would be very handy.
Station containers kind of do the job but they can be annoying, and aren't in 0.0 stations (AFAIK). -
