What is to prevent someone from opening a citadel and the as it gets filled up with stuff just not allowing people to dock?
Is there a way you can avoid having this happen to you if you put orders in for more than a station range? E.g.,Can you make it so your buy orders are not filled in a citadel?
If not wouldn't that make sense?
Thanks for any responses.

Nothing is preventing it happening, but then there is: Asset recovery.

Personal Asset Safety is triggered when a Citadel is destroyed, unanchored, or the player manually activates it. Once asset safety has been triggered, an entry will appear in the players "Asset" window under a tab called "Safety" Orders restricted to Jita cannot be filled by a citadel. |

I don't believe your order can be filled at a citadel you can't dock at, so you're safe in that regard.
Now if your order is filled while you can still dock, then they take away docking rights, I believe you are sol. Better get a force together to blow it up and reclaim your stuff |

I've not had to do it so far, so I haven't figured it out, but the helpdesk article is predictably unhelpful. |

It's a tab under the asset tab section on the far right. If your citadel gets popped it adds it in this section otherwise it is empty. There is a time period delay before you can actually pick a station for the assets to get moved to and be accessible however. |

I know about that tab and how to deal with it if the citadel gets destroyed or unanchored. I'm asking about how to activate it manually, like the helpdesk article suggests you can do, even without the citadel being destroyed or unanchored. I haven't seen any way to do it, so unless someone else has figured it out I'm going to assume that the helpdesk article is inaccurate. |

It's definitely possible as I triggered it for some stuff in null sec, I was going to post a screemshot of the context menu item, but I've been waiting for 10 minutes for a citadel to personal hangar delivery which I guess isn't going to happen.

Edit: my delivery still hasn't appeared, but the tritanium I bought did. http://i.imgur.com/18zXBjb.png Got it, thanks.
That option didn't seem to appear when I was docked in the citadel with the items, but it did appear once I undocked. |
