Edited by: Kua Immortal on 16/03/2007 14:07:40 Hi,
I've made a decent amount of dough (doe?) on the markets, but I find it extremely addictive. As soon as money comes in I have to reinvest, I have to constantly look for better deals. It takes over your soul . It becomes less enjoyable, more obsessive, to an extent at least. Really I want to get into PvP, but I just find all my EVE time taken up by trading.
Admittedly I trade in Jita, but whenever I go to the smaller hubs it just seems to take an age for buy orders to fill and although the competition isn't as fierce it's still there. Feel free to disagree here.
So really I think I just need to go cold turkey, which is fine, I have plenty to cover some PvP fun for a good while. But it would be very sad just to leave this money sitting there.
I've considered investing in shares. But from what I can gather its risky and therefore if you're going to enter into this at all you should do your research and that would defeat the purpose of stopping trading. I also wonder if playing the stock market can become addictive in itself, although I can't say I'm not interested in it. Have to admit I find the stock market (not even sure if that's the appropriate term) a bit overwhelming though and I wouldn't know where to start.
Another thing I considered is setting up a massive region order for some mineral, just check the buy order every day for a month or so. And after the month has elapsed go collect it all and sell it at a hub. But I don't have a freighter and frankly I don't think this will make very much money :P. Ofc I have to accept less return if I want to spend a lot less time .
Well I'll put that out there, if you have any other ideas you're willing to share I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your time .

Find a player that you trust who's running a moderately successful operation, give him or her a bunch of money, and agree to split the profits on your half.
That way both of you make more money than you would if your ISK was sitting in a jar under your mattress (so to speak).

Consider T1 BPO researching (i.e. BS BPO, do ME/PE research on it, sell for profit). No work, no risk, good profit. Also some costly T1 BPOs are good for copying, again very little work with low risk.
Minaral idea probably won't work. First, in populated regions buy prices are quite high and competetion is strong, second, price fluctuations could cost you a lot if you collect and sell only once per month.
Shares I don't know... imo its too risky. Even the best IPO can disappear any day and you can't do anything.

Great idea! I will check out some prices myself, but what would you say is the typical mark up, having researched the BPO?

Sometimes pretty high, sometimes not. You really need to watch Sell orders forum to see what is good atm.
For example, ppl usually pay well for researched cruisers, I also remember some BC BPOs being sold for really high prices, but on other side, Tier2 BC BPOs are now very hard to sell even with good research, becouse many ppl sell them.
I just posted it in another thread, best way is to look on www.eve-search.com and see what was ppl offering in forum auctions.

Hey, what's up?
There's also, I think, a lot of money to be made shipping Empire-0.0, although you need to be a little crazy to pull it off. Contact me in game if you want some product ideas.

Involves a lot of effort and research and risk. I think a lot can be made if you supply the right stuff to the front, but I have no clue where the front is and I know for sure I wouldn't make it alive .

Edited by: Kua Burrow on 17/03/2007 00:41:43 You mean faction and officer items? Things off the market. Yeah I thought about that, but I really have no idea of the worth of these items and basically I'd be buying things in auctions and item exchange contracts and reselling them in the same way.

A million Kuas!
Here is what I've noticed. If I babysit my orders, then they move fast. If I put up a bunch of buys and sells at reasonable prices and come back to them a week later, then a fair portion of those fire too (more than would have if I'd checked on them the next day but less than if I'd been regularly adjusting).
If you are making ISK faster than you can spend it then you are essentially infinitely wealthy. Positive cashflow means you'll never run out of ISK.
Take your foot off the gas a little, throw up some alts in lower volume areas with standing orders (margin trading == win here) and forget about them for a few days until the fun parts of trading come back to you and then dive in and mess around.
For me I'm starting to fool around in the investment market. With a basic positive cash flow I'm infinitely wealthy anyway, so why not take the ISk that I can't spend fast enough and throw it around at a bunch of investments and see what I can do as far as getting some passive income going. Worst case scenario? I learn a bunch about being scammed and then have to re-earn myself some ISK which I was doing anyway.
In other words if you aren't having any fun, stop doing it! There is sucha thing as too much. :)

VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Give the money to me.
Divest yourself of your addiction, do not look back!
Thank you in advance.
:)

BTW, dough is used to bake into bread. A Doe is a female Deer. Dough is a common term meaning money. Bread is also a common term meaning money.
Last night, I went to sleep, woke up this morning and discovered I had DOUBLED my cash holdings!!
Hi, my name is ToranagaSama. I am a nublet trader, and I am addicted. I no longer do Missions, nor Ratting, and now think Mining is for losers. I am addicted to Trading, and now spend all my Eve-online time looking for deals. I specialize in high margin, low to medium volume items.
Oh, and it's all Sun Win's fault!

Edited by: KaiH on 17/03/2007 14:10:23 Hi, Im a pvp addict turned trader addict. Trust me, you are gonna need that money when you get into pvp.
A thought though; It seems to me that most hardcore traders dont do much other than trade, hence not actually spending their money at all. (Now whats the point of that.) Maybe using some for shiney ships and modules will give you more motivation in both areas?
I wish you good luck in your new venture.

Ah addictions...
I had the same issue where all my time was spent trading trading trading. Even as a very new player I learned quickly that it does not take much trained skill to earn mucho isk in Eve. The problem was I was so involved with my multi-regional buy/selling ops that I had no time for killin. I thought that with my lowly pathetic skills (SP), PvP would be slaughter. But if you really are making good money....spend it man.
I created some entrepreneur alts, instantly allowing for high numbers buy/sell orders, and joined a 0.0 alliance. The big pain was going around cancelling buy/sells and using contracts to transfer assests to my alts. If you are in one system that should be a breeze.
Now I log in my alts for trading and then my main for 0.0. My low SP, recklessness and lack of PvP experience translates into some lost ships...but hey, I got he money:) And given time I too will be considered DANGEROUS...and isnt being dangerous what Eve is all about? Those aint spit wads you're trading...

Dam i miss escrow
It was so profitable trading faction gear when it was around, you used the forums to get good deals or the occasional person who didnt know the real value of a faction item, bought it then resold it for a nice little earner. But with the new contract system and in game auctions its become impossible to make a living from it because the prices of the faction items seem to be dropping all the time and prices i though were good for some items are actually crap.
Anyway i just hub trade nowadays nice little earner and dont have to put to much effort into it either.

Just a note to anyone in a similar position. When the sh1t hits the fan in PvP (and this is one industrial sized fan and a whole vat of sh1t) you'll be glad to have carebearish activities to fall back on .

Is there a sub culture that none talks about. The beast as called the Material Handler. That profession that goes unrecognized. Where the middle man meets EVE. Who are these players and do they really enjoy the quiet hmm of their industrials?
