Okay so I am about 2 weeks away from command ships (Amarrian ones) and wanted to get people's take on the matter. I do partake in fleet battles and I know that they are invaluable for that situation but what do people think about the Damnation in either small gang or more importantly in solo PVP? I have pretty good drone skills and descent missle skills which I am willing to train up if it makes sense.
I would imagine a 4 HAM 3 laser setup would be pretty sweet as the tanking on this thing has to be nice with the base resists.

For solo is the Absolution For small gang its the Damntion tbh. Get 4 Heavy Pulse Laser II's with 3 gang mods and a nasty tank = I-win in gangs. ----------- 24.01.06 Small patch that addresses some minor balancing issues 1) All minmatar pilots have been deleted |

That's what I was thinking but I figured the Damnation has a slightly better tank, even with one less low slot because of the higher resists. Also, I think HAM's have some serious DPS potential. Plus the 4 med slots allows for a little flexibility vs the 3 on the Absolution.
Any other ideas?

Edited by: Angus McLean on 16/03/2007 18:33:01 I like using the Damnation in solo combat. Its one of my favorite ships, of course the setups I use generally make other Damnation pilots hearts leap, and I get called a heretic every few weeks, but nothing I dont mind. For solo pvp I use,
4x Heavy Pulse Laser II 3x Medium Diminishing Nos
10mn Afterburner II Injector (800's) True Sansha Webber Domination Warp Scrambler
2x Medium Armor Rep. II DCU II 2x EANM II Corpum Thermic Hardener (Passive)
If your going to have a beasly tank try and use all officers mods, but I dont have that kind of money heh. With that said, thats what I solo in. (Hard to kill anything bigger than a BC/CS so dont try)
Edit: Drop a thermic hardener for a heatsink if you want to increase your damage output. Not like you dont have high enough resistances anyways.

Edited by: Bellac on 16/03/2007 18:43:27 I agree with most of what is written above really. Just adding my 2p worth to add a bit more weaight to it really.
Value for money I love the Damnation. The tank is uber (with only a little effort you can get it up to around the 90% mark resist across the range) but because of the low DPS ability of the damnation and the higher skill requirements it has a lower price tag. It is especially good in a gang in missions as you can go in and be primairy target and easily tank most missions, and the gang assist benefits should not be overlooked either.
The Absolution is just an awsome damage dealer, and will always be a popluar choice because of this basic fact.
A dificult choice but if you can afford get both as they both have an indipendant roll to play.

Have to agree though that the Absolutions tank is quite close. My resistances are all around 83-87% with 2 med reps. But I still prefer the Damnation for looks and tank
