I am wondering if this would be any good for EVE? You would still need to use the mouse to point at stuff, but you wouldnt have to click or use the keyboard anymore. Just think "fire" and your guns go off.
It might take some getting used to, but I think mind/mouse would be superior to keyboard/mouse.
Thoughts?

You'd really allow such a fundamental and perverse invasion of your privacy to control a game better?

TBH, I also don't like the game knowing when I'm thinking about going left.
Incidentally, I have great trouble with games with left turns. -
If you go into your options menu, there's a difficulty slider. Put that all the way over to the easiest setting and you'll be fine. |

EVE is way too complex for this thing. Maybe in 10 years.
Also I don't see why it's an invasion of privacy. The thing doesn't read your thoughts, you have to train it beforehand to pick up certain commands, then when it detects the same electrical patterns on your skin it executes the command. If you don't program the pattern into it it has no idea what you're thinking.

I see this little technology as not much different from the stuff in some of the books I own (cyberpunk ftw). so incidently I have been waiting for stuff like this for in real life ot apear.

QFE.
My mind is wandering to much to create a strong enough consentration on doing something. Heck, most likely when trying to target a roid with my mining lasers I would get the error message: no girls observed in this area to target

Oh yeah...that'd be sweet.
In a few years when they've got this nailed down a little tighter, I'd love to fly around and think "Target that ship, and that ship. Okay now fire these on that ship and those on that one, and set orbit at this speed around this one."
Complex? Absolutely. Probably too many problems. But it'd be quite close to what our characters supposedly do.

How reliably can you move your arms and legs?
It's probably more like that than like having a very specific frame of mind. -

Yes, but how do you know? It's like Vista feeding masses of information about your computer and internet habits back to Microsoft (apparently). There's nothing on the box that tells you Vista is going to use 9/10 of your bandwidth spying on you, and likewise for the average person that doesn't know how mind/machine interfaces work, they'll just have to take some company's word for it. And that where it all begins.
I think i'm straying off topic... ---

A company develops a technology able to read your thoughts, but they keep it secret and market it as a much less advanced and less valuable tech in order to spy on you? I don't think they'd ever make back the millions upon millions the real tech would be worth.
So, um, no. -

Its just a joystick you control with electrical responses on (not in) your head instead of electrical responses in your hands. It does not pick up random crap you are thinking and translate this into some sort of command for your ship.

Hell! Throw in a working Virtual Reality headset, and you can simulate your pod for real!
.... I wonder how long it'd be before someone posted a real life constructed replica pod around their computer that they sat in with this thing to make eve more real :/
