Hello all,
I am a returning player after a considerable time. I am a part of Red Corp and RvB. Great people, great corp, great idea.
The problem is nothing seems to be happening when I am online in regards to pvp. I have to wait for a few hours for a skirmish or go through chat tells for some duels, etc. Only a few are online and they are afk mostly. I am GMT +2 and I don't want to wait until late night/midnight for some action.
I know that there would not be much early daytime, but what about late afternoons? Early evenings? Is it possible to log into some meaningful pvp action in the game anywhere? anytime?
Only helpful posts pls, thanks

I've had little issue with EU tz gmt+2 would mean the majority of fleet I participate in would start at about 7pm for you. Which should be good as that's enough time to get home from work eat dinner. Watch the news and relax.
Consider joining SWArm channel for free weekend pvp roams in low-sec and 0.0 they will also guide you to other similair fleets that do midweek things. Also check ZarvoxTV for twitch fleets.
I cant comment on RvB but their op times will depend on their fleet commanders. If you want earlier EU fleets consider asking for FC training scheme from them. I suspect they will have one. |

Hello and welcome back to Eve.
Maybe send an Eve mail message to Corp members who show as being online that you think are afk and ask them to meet and form a hunting party at a specific time and place.
Also you might find some good prospects for your situation in this sub-forum :
Corporation, Alliance & Organization Discussions
Anyway, good luck to you, hope you have an even longer and more rewarding career this time.

- It's high summer in EU TZ atm with temperatures that are so high even the nerdiest of nerds won't sit behind his computer for long - Legion just came out - RvB has been bleeding dry due to things like Horde and Karma Fleet - CCP decided years ago that they wanted to turn this PVP niche game into a generic carebear game and have been working towards that ever since. So the PVPers decided it's not their game any more and quit, the carebears do what they always do: not interact or create content and hop from one game to the next gobbling up "grind content". Hence the low PCU numbers these days
These are not bad things perse, it just means that you have to put in more active effort atm. Set course to low sec or 0.0, or perhaps don't wait for "other people" to make stuff happen but be the one that "other people" turn to, you make it happen.

Welcome back.
In general news of RvB:

The current CEO of Red Federation posts here in the forum and I think is trying to get activity going again, but RvB has been pretty quiet since the announcement related those articles/posts above.

When Plave created RvB (both times) it had some simple rules, for good reasons, that made it awesome and with correct implementation of those rules it worked great. Over time they started to change the rules so that it became less about "go get your feet wet in PVP" to haves and have nots. The overall idea changed from "lets have some fun for both sides" to "lol".

Original rules:
- no T2/T3 ships allowed so it's an even playing field as much as possible - no nonsense faction/pirate ships blingend out to hell, as to not make it a wallet war where newbies can't compete. If you did use an "overpowered" ship (something as simple as a BS, even) you weren't allowed to flee the field if things got too hot. You use it, you lose it - no station docking games, fck that. No station camping either - no ECM ships allowed, ecm drones were allowed but even that was kinda frowned upon - you're not there to win at the expense of another, you're there for both sides to have an entertaining and worthwhile fight and it is required for all pilots to actively put in effort to make that happen. - no unfair/uneven fights where one side has way more people that the other, in that case the FC's are obligated to make people either sit it out, wait till the other side gets more or even have some of the folks switch sides - no support alts, gang links or other silliness unless it's flown by an actual player on the field
Back then this was followed to the letter. No ifs, buts or lols. These days not so much. |

In the months I spent there, it certainly did seem that way. The double standards were atrocious. One minute I'm being told to downship from a Brutix because I might be scaring the blues into not fighting, the next I'm in a T1 frig getting blobbed by a cruiser gang with links. Not to mention the friends of mine that joined, who got kicked for 'baiting' RvB members prior to joining and 'being dicks'. It's not true, of course, my friends were just kicking everyone's butts and they got salty about it. I've seen them let plenty of people join that were baiting RvB members, including myself, and I've encountered more than a few dicks in the ranks as well.

I remember you :-) 07 you were an active pilot in my time my time zone :-) looking at your killboard your time zone changed. Sadly I can't comment on other time zone because I'm not on! Regarding your view's on links etc. Seeing RvB is in high sec it's been a nightmare for command to try eliminate neutral boosters. In Corp are allowed but I always ask people to put them away if I'm on because if you need links in RvB your mostly doing it wrong. To balance up an arranged fight etc fair enough.
The original rules have been posted already on this forum post. If these rules were still in place sadly I wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting you because looking at your losses most fail to meet the first 2 rules.
http://purple.rvbeve.com/?a=pilot_detail&plt_ext_id=91880134&view=loses
I personally don't have a problem with t3/t2/faction etc if they brought out to fight like you did :-)
My point on this is since RvB started the game has changed so much!
Pirate implants that cover almost everything. Drugs now legal. So many more ship types to have to deal with. That's just off the top of my head! So trying to get a balanced fight out of all of this now adays is a bloody nightmare :-(
One saving grace will be the new link effects on ships. That will let us know who being a bad toon!
I would still like to know who the first post is from due to the toon who posted has one losemail in its life.
Cheers Nitro

It wouldn't be if things simply weren't allowed, and that rule was actually acted upon. People in groups do things because they get away with them, strong leadership that a) makes ppl WANT to follow that leadership and b) makes ppl fear the outcome of not following that leadership results in people who stick to the rules.
The rules, while very arbitrary and possibly "petty" at times, are there to create an even playing field which was the outset: get more newbies into pvp. That kinda stopped being the case. Not saying that individuals who put in massive effort to help newbies don't exist in RvB, they most certainly do, but the concept as it is today isn't newbie friendly. |

So explain how you stop neutral boosters given RvB's open door policy? Get banned, buy or skill extract and create a new combat toon. Use same neutral booster. It's not like we check IP address.
How do you stop pirate implants? Podding doesn't work because most people with pirate implants know to get the pod off the field and you hurt the new players that don't. Banning can work but proof of say Slaves, Halos, and others can be tough. Is his ship just tanky with good skills or just pirate imants. Snakes are perhaps the easiest but others aren't. Yes leadership can say no but you end up with burnt out leadership from spending their free time policing. Remembered leadership want to just blow up ships too and when they spend all their playtime in convos hearing a he said/she said story, it sucks.
Ship types... You can ban big stuff yet people will always complain and you never get one big BS verse a fleet of frigates that can be fun. Ban other stuff and people get bored. It's a balance because you need some vets to stay or the newer players have no one to learn from.
Station games, I'll all ears how to solve that. Maybe say screw it and move to citadels. Of course that is also a big target For those who want to grief. Still I would love suggestions on stopping station games.
Still, it is what it is. I'm always open to suggestions so fire them away.

While its true RvB did (inevitably) suffer a drop in activity after the 'closure' announcements - we remain very much in business and in the last 10 months have more activity than the previous 10.
if you want to log on, undock and enjoy a quick fight with a relaxed friendly community - RvB is still the best game in town.
We run regular fleet events and FFA's.
This week's schedule is:
* Training on Tuesday.
* Partially reimbursed Cruiser Brawl on Wednesday
* Free Frig FFA on Friday
* Huge 'Bring & Pew FFA' on Saturday @ Jita
* Battle-Cruiser brawl on Sunday
In between times we've been on low sec roams and brawling in Oisio and Oshaima.
Sadly, we do attract a handful of moaners who contribute nothing to the community while nursing a childish sense of entitlement - twas ever thus.

Not to mention.....
http://purple.rvbeve.com/?a=cc_detail&ctr_id=206
Fewer actives and less free stuff? Maybe,
But 40,000 kills in 9 months a year you are supposed have been "dead"? Hardly
We still enforce rules and the ones posted here about the "original" rules are still the guide we use today.
We are an open and pretty easy community, and I agree with what has been posted here about leadership. Ignore them at your own risk, otherwise just have fun.

As said, if a group has leadership and a setup people WANT to follow them it gets followed. It's not very difficult to check if ppl have gang links, if they state to be solo you simply invite them to a fleet, if that won't work then... they're not solo. If they state to be with their own group have them invite you to that group, if they're unwilling they have something to hide.
Stopping people to station camp is really easy, someone who has some leadership quality says" wtf are you doing, stop doing that" and if ppl don't stop doing that then a) leadership apparently is lacking and b) you kick them from RvB.
The really simple answer is: by having standards and sticking to them.
