Who drops these things. I really can't see spending that much isk for something that isn't going to return the same amount in a months worth of mission running. I make more isk with 2 hulks and a hauler (100 mil a week easy) then I do running missions, but missions are a lot less boring./WC

lol... you know all complexes that drop those are farmed heavily. Making 1bil isk in 1 hour is very appealing.
Anyhow, it's an asset, remember that.
Gist boosters have been pretty steady in price always.
You don't lose any isk if you buy it - buy it for decent price, sell for same price.
The only time you would lose isk with it, would be if you get it blown up.

How good are your skills?
My mission running setup at the moment is a stock Raven, 6x cruise II with tech 1 missiles, 2 small named lasers (helps against the frigs), XL SB II, 4 named hardeners and a boost amp II, and in lows DCU (named at the moment), PDS II x2, BCU II x2.
It does the job, and reasonably quickly too - don't have to warp out much. This is not quite the best setup I could imagine for reasonable amounts of isk - I could use tech 2 hardeners and a DCU II - but I'm cheap. And I'm not sure about CPU, either - this setup only has about 15 CPU left.
Nor do I quite have optimum skills - cruise missile spec is only 1 - but my tanking and cap skills are very high, which is the secret.
I suspect that rigs would make missions very easy indeed - even one CCC would probably give me almost a permatank.
By the way, does anyone use tech 2 missiles in missions, and is it worth it?

Never felt the need for a faction setup on my mission running raven. Even with the fun Motsu lag it's never come close to poping. The 0.0 drone rats are such a total joke I never even have to boost 95% of the time.

Before rigs came out, I used to solo even Enemies Abound 5 of 5 without too much trouble thanks to my Gist X XL booster.
Now that booster is on a PvP-fit CNR with 7 siege II and 3 ballistics, so...
