I would increase my Eve subscription time from 3-months to 1-year if CCP told of their longer-term plans beyond space station ambulation.
If CCP put planet ambulation (and mining?) on the public development plan, would you increase your subscription time as a vote of confidence?

Only if they gave me as good a rate as I get by buying GTC from shatteredcrystal.
3 months@ $40 = ú20GBP, compared to ú26 GBP through subscription.

Its probably the transaction costs that makes the uk more expensive. I dont beleive CCP make more money through their subscription than GTC's ... but thanks for the name of the site I may start using it

I'll probably buy yearly subscriptions anyway, but it was worth a try!

I play Eve for what it is now, not what it will be, I'd keep playing if they never changed it again.
If all you are looking forward to is future content I suggest you quit and come back in a few months. -
If you go into your options menu, there's a difficulty slider. Put that all the way over to the easiest setting and you'll be fine. |

I like the game as it is, but CCP have no choice - they must keep evolving to stay 'alive'. But this is exactly what they do.
For example, they are updating the graphics, and introducing ambulation.
You are very wrong - you would not keep playing Eve if it never changed because there are games being developed at this very moment that would take the market from Eve it never changed. Maybe as a die-hard fan you would stay, but it's quite possible the game would not make money, so the server would get switched off.
However, I think CCP and it's leadership are superb - Eve Online does not yet have a serious competitor and has a loyal fan base (I'm one of them!).

This is a common misconception. This is only required to stay the market leader. And that is only because of the ADD afflicted masses running around screaming 'OMG whats new this month/week/day/hour' on the major gaming websites. In fact, evolving games is what eventually kills them, attempting to continually attract new people by altering what the game is, alienating the original player base, and failing to attract new customers by entering into areas done better by newer games.

It's always a good idea to upgrade graphics when possible, in fairness, but beyond that...

There are no games in development, on the market, or even being planned that I know of which can touch Eve. Even if one was developed, I'd stick with Eve because it's the one I've been playing all along. Change is not how you compete with other games anyway. If another game comes along that attracts Eve players and starts taking Eve's customers, changing Eve into something else would only further alienate the playerbase.
While I fully support the addition of new features to Eve, the thing which will keep it alive is implementing the core features the best way possible, not continually adding new fringe features. -

Maybe you are right, but Eve COULD have some serious competition with Infinity. This is a video of the planet atmosphere graphics:

Here is the website:

It looks similar to Eve!
