Ever since i been here(2005) I've noticed drones always doing something that was "askew" of prefferred programming. if it's not the fact they don't go back into your drone bay, then it's the fact they don't listen to commands. Now I'm noticing that I have to keep giving the order to my drones to attack the same target. Now i'm talking all ranges here, from 70k out to 7k out? What gives?
If any of you know of the link in the forums where they say they are adressing this problem, pls link it
Thanx

I was hired to kill you back in '05.
Just thought I'd mention that I was startled to see your name come up again.
I know little about drones, however.

Yeah I have experienced this too. Particularly with my Ogres. They're extremely disobedient. I tell them to attack something and they fly halfway there, then stop or begin to come back, or when they get there they'll decide to attack something else instead. The overview is annoying as well. If I pull 5 drones back to bay the whole game freezes for about just over 5 seconds. It's a long time to wait if I'm trying to put drones in bay and warp out quickly before my ship blows up. Oh and another thing - if I put stacked drones into a group, when I launch them into space they forget what group they were in and I have to put them in it again.
The whole thing needs some serious improvement. That's just the drones bugs ;)

maybe if your make drone control range is 30k and they're orbiting you at 30km or vice versa, you will periodically not be close enough to the target too control the drones so they give up.

I never had trouble with my drones until a few patches ago when there was a line in the patch notes that said they had FIXED drones so they would not randomly choose their own targets. Following that patch, my drones began to randomly choose their own targets. Go figure. And no, it is not a control range limit either. Often times they will reach their target, fire once, then switch targets and I have to repeat my command to attack.
