Does anyone know how it's calculated and/or how much SP you would lose after you were podded, didn't update your clone and were podded again?
I am curious about this and can't seem to find any information on it. -------------------------------------------------

5% of the difference between your current SP and what your clone covered. If you forgot to upgrade your clone, you'd have the basic (800K?) clone.
This SP is taken from your skill with the most SP in it.
This loss is limited to 50% of the total SP in the above skill.

Does this means that if I have 15mil skills and i get podded without an updated clone that I will loose 800k skills or I will have 800k skills and loose 14.2 mil skills

15 million in skills - 800k clone= 14.2 million
5% of 14.2 million is 710k. This is what you can lose max in this situation.
Assuming BS 5 is your skill with the most sp in it. That's 2 million sp. The max you can lose is 50% of that, thus 1 million. This is higher then the actual loss above.
End result: you'll drop back to BS 4, losing 710k, ending up with 1.3 million in it.
Other example: Weapon Upgrades 5 is your highest skill at 512k. Then you can lose only 256k. This means that 2/3 of the 710k skill loss will not be applied. You'll drop back to WU 4 with 256k in it.

Never knew it worked that way. I always assumed you would lose all your sp to what the clone covered. This is not so bad if it accidentally happens some time.

It used to be worse - 5% of your total SP if you didn't have an up to date clone. You either had an up to date clone or didn't bother with one.
On the plus side, SP loss was limited to 1 level, not 50% of the SP in the skill (which in rare cases can cause you to lose multiple levels), so it evened out.

That would be cases requiring a petition since it's mathematically impossible to lose more then one level in a single death under the current system.

I would say that losing any skill points when podded is akin to running out of gas with a perfectly working gauge in you car.
There can be no excuse.
