14:53 - some find the forum and write stuff like "patchday? didnt know" and "server down???"
16:47 - PPL start moaning that the server isnt up yet
17:17 - Server still not up, ppl start whining that CCP didnt prepare, 30% of whines are "MY SKILL FINISHES IN 20 MIN FFS!!!"
17:32 - after some startup issues the server goes up
17:33 - WTF LOGIN QUEUE?
17:34 - WTF LAG?! Where is the Market
17:36 - I LOST MY CNR IN A MISSION DUE TO STUPID LAG
17:39 - Some Issues found (my bet: something about POS)
17:42 - first pirates are celebrating the first few kills
17:42 - first few carebears are whining about the new antiloggoffski
17:47 - Lots of Datacores for HULK/Vagabonds got consumed, plenty of invention slots in progress
17:52 - Sorry, server crashed, at least 1-2 nodes
17:59 - Server backup, less lag
18:17 - some reports about the new missions, whinings and celebrations because of the new stuff
19:32 - My Invention job finishes ^^
23:29 - more and more pleasant posts about the new patch

left a 20hr one just in case.
On that note, I'll have to wake up at an ungodly hour to not only switch it when it's done (at 3-4am), but also head to school (for some special presentation thing at 7am, but our slavedriver of a professor wants us there at 5:30am. Free iskies to whoever can kill him. Seriously).

that seems to me to be damn accurate, i myself left a skill going that'l be done midnight tonight (GMT) just to be safe :P
all these "i want reembursement for the overly long downtime" people need to be shot though, seriously

Well given that CCP themselves warn the playerbase every damned time to set a long skill, it still surprises me when the whiners come up with the "My skill finished and I've lost training time because the downtime finished late, I want my money back, reimburse me you bastards!" type posts.
More by luck than judgement, I've never had a skill training complete in the middle of or just after a planned daily 1 hr downtime, let alone a long one. After yesterday that's probably a good thing.
Also at the end of the day I couldn't really give an airborne copulation about losing training time. It'll get trained eventually.

ye, prohably lost a few weeks/months aswell, and i dont care..

hehehehhehehe sounds pretty acruate.
personally i put on an 11hr skill cause if anything the server will go up at least once and i really wanted that skill today. :)
I love the mission forums just after patch cause theres sooooo many senseless deaths due to impetuousness and the isk/new item lust. and its funny as hell to watch people whine whilst you sit back and let others find the bugs.
you missed the time when people find the scam/expolits and get in quick before its nerfed.

I'm actually looking forward to that thread.
IIRC, with every patch concearning missions, there was at least one thread of exactely this kind.
It's just too funny to read threads saying "I was flying with my 2-3bil ship into a completely unkonwn and so far not properly tested mission and inexplicably lost it! It's CCP's fault!"
Can't wait to see who it will be this time :D

its not the part about losing the ship due to lag, its the part that "the server JUST went up" and they go straigth into it, when they should KNWO by now that after a pacth the cache of the ramsans and stuff is usually NOT there and it will take a bit to rebuild, causing slow reactions and "lag" ;)

i dont mind the server being down for patch days and all that...but what does annoy me are all the whiners who dont read...whiners who whine about their skill finishing thru the extended downtime.. whiners that whine about lag just after the server has started up. and tbh the OP has got it in one :P thats pretty much how it usually is.
to all those whiners out there....quit your whining and read the messages next time

16:14, people are already trying to get into the game, and complaining that the autoupdater isn't working. They're getting earlier. There's already at least 2 threads about updates and patching.

If missions are really changed thanks to the NFS initiative, then there will no doubt be people losing ships to them. Not because of lag, but because they no longer no exactly what's going to happen when they warp in anymore

how true this is, but the same thing happens to us every time we get a good war going, a few days in there is a patch  , just hoping they keep the war going for a few weeks

Saw a lot of posts like that yesterday when the server was down. Even made a my skill finished 30 mins ago post, and quickly went about editing it feeling like a right prink after writing it.
One way to beat the downtime blues, read all the nubbin posts... SERVER DOWN... OMG WTF... PATCH?

so you should be able to play just fine in theory
