Edited by: Paigan on 20/03/2007 15:03:09 I think that during every patch:
Would be nice to have a short sentence about the patch progress from the devs during patching. At least something like "patching is going fine" or "encountering slight problems, could get 30-60 mins late in the end" in the login info box.
I know, corporations love to pretend or remain silent about critical processes to their customers until it's no longer possible.
But if there are any problems, it's less frustration for the customers in the end to inform them by time. And if there are no problems, then a short note like that would be a nice service, making customers think "oh look, they're doing well, nice job"
I don't think that dozends of people are so exremely busy with watching update progress bars so that not even one of them has time to write a little sentence in a little text field once or twice :P -- This game is still in beta stage |

Great Idea!!!
cos theres nothing irritating about someone asking you "hows it going" when you're working and trying to concentrate on making sure everythings covered and nothing missed out!
Try assuming that everythings going fine, untill told otherwise. --------------------------------------------

Actually with long patches CCP will quite often post some information on patch progress. They used to do it on the PNC, but there might be something kicking around in the Information Portal forum. Haven't looked though.
And historically speaking, if there was a problem they're pretty quick to put up a note somewhere to tell us to expect a longer downtime. Which I might add is about 500% more than most MMO developers will give you during a patch.

Multitasking = bad when you're playing with a large, complicated cluster, and have a deadline. Let them be.

CCP is not a one-man corp, you know. And surely not everyone will be hacking keyboards like crazy during a patch. It's just about customer information.
"Assuming everything is fine until it's too late" creates the maximum frustration in the end. -- This game is still in beta stage |

People in CS don't magically know what is happening. They have to go and find out - and trust me, when you're juggling as many details as you have to when doing this sort of thing, having someone come over and ask you "hows it going" can cause impulses of violence. Having to take time out to explain to them whats going on can cause a near fatal lapse in concentration that can result in everything going to arse! Seriously, there is very little more irritating than what youÆre asking. In fact, the only thing worse that I can think of is one of the guys from sales coming over and asking ôwhats the problemö.

the patch takes hours not days to deploy, i think their busy enough without doing minute by minute reports to a bunch of impatient kids.

This is starting to be a long day.
They could at least have a GM tell us if it going to be on time, early, late, or revoked.

well you coucl check the server each half hour, you know when its goes on early or on time
dont expect anything before the "official" end of dt. even when the server shows up, EXPECT that it might go down. Most dont understand that and petition their loss because of a sudden crash or something because they couldnt wait... its 1.5 more hours
try in 1.5 hours :)
