Please, do not disgrace the game - make something with russian "localization" of interface. Russian community is in shock after the patch... It's only push of new user from Russia from so wonderful game.
Messages is bigger than buttons... Russian words is distorted... Russian phrase have ambiguous (sometimes close to indecent) sense...

I think, someone from CCP should officially apologise before russian comunity. For me incident would be settled on it. Dont know who's mistake it was and was it a mistake, but it is, at least, disrespect to players from Russia.

Well, if it's really that bad you should:
- suggest corrections here in the forum - send a petition - apply for volunteer
All perfectly viable options. I know and hate bad translations, I know how you feel.
But please, stay constructive and don't take it too personal. I'm absolutely sure that nobody at CCP did this to annoy you or because they don't like russians. Implying anything like that is simply ridiculous and won't help at all.

Nobody of russians think like this... You should think better about us :)) BUT... As I said before - fonts must be corrected. They R unreadable. Another thing - descriptions of items didnt localized - but descriptions needed more than anything else... One my friend said - i didnt speak english but i can understand anything except complex descriptions. Russian people must translate this game - because russian language much more complex. Misunderstanding of this will make localization useless...

Russian language is an extremely complex one. And I am not only talking about the tenses and verbs; there are gendered and ungenedered verbs and nouns. Different vernacular terms, which if used incorrectly, will actually distort the meaning and can essentially make something fairly innocuous, sound offensive.
It is not surprising that in a game as complex as EVE the adequate translation might be an issue, if not performed correctly.
So, it might be a good idea for CCP to employ a few people to do systematic translation of the DB. I am more than happy to volunteer my time for a small compensation.
I speak Russian fluently, as well other languages. Not Icelandic though.
Oh, and regarding this:

Some things can get "lost in translation" - when English-speaking public reads the Russian users' comments - try not to take offence.
It is frequent that when a native Russian speaks or writes in English, it comes off as abrupt or commanding, sometimes it may appear rude, or confusing, even if it was not intended as such.
It is mostly due to the way Russian language operates, and the lack of "a" and "the" articles, which are so prevalent in English.
Additionally, the "polite" address in Russian is often based on plural verbs and nouns, which do not translate well into English, something similar to the French "tu" and "vu".

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 21/03/2007 21:58:05 LOL Congratulations CCP you managed to do something the U.S. couldn't do. lol Get the Russians mad. Anyways I have to agree the on-line translators really do suck lol. Even with the english translations. After staring at the translation for a few minutes and stop laughing at the out come of it. You finally relize what was trying to be said. Some countries take great pride in their language. Theres got to be a better way to translate languages on the game. Russian is one of the hardest languages to learn. Its also one of my favorite languages.
