Hello,
I have been playing EVE-Online for about a year now on and off. I have had a long struggle with this game, but finally things have begun to look up for me; I've started my own Corporation and I met a player from 2005 who's very nice and has been sponsoring my Corporation and providing some initial funding. He also wants to partner with me in an Industrial operation and has so far invested over 1 billion ISK into me. I've been very excited and logging many hours due to this.
The other day I woke up and logged into my accounts for my morning station routine as normal. Then I went to work. When I came home, I tried to log-in to my Account Manager to add game-time, but received this message:
Quote:Login failed. Possible reasons can be:
*Invalid username / password *Incorrect character name entered *Account is expired or banned
I tried all of my accounts on the Manager, and it said the same thing. I tried the client and the client said:
Quote:Login Data Incorrect
Incorrect username or password.
At this point I began to feel a bit dizzy so I tried to log-in via the forums and it said:
Now I was really starting to feel sick to my stomach, and even today when I think about it I get very depressed. I have received no word from CCP on the matter and I had to file a petition.
As far as I know, I have only ever received 1 "official warning". It was sent to me via EVE-Mail from a GM. I didn't even know what the warning was about so I had to petition it to find out. They told me what it was for and I closed the petition. This was over a month ago. Now my accounts are banned and I've received no message about it. I filed a petition but still haven't gotten a reply.
Has anyone else had any similar experiences to this? I'm hoping right now that CCP just suspended my account temporarily due to someone trying to hack me. When I try to log-in via the clients, it simply says I have incorrect login data. I was reading in another thread about bans, a GM posted that "You should receive a message stating your account is banned with a reason when you try to log in through the client." I'm not receiving that message so I'm hoping this is a temporary issue that can be fixed.
I feel really sick thinking about everything I've put into this game being taken away forever. Things were finally starting to get interesting and exciting and really fun. I appreciate in advance any replies. |

It sounds to me like you might have been hacked, in which case the hacker will change your login details to buy themselves time and probably do all manner of naughty things that could get you banned.
When did you file the petition? If it was just today then hopefully they'll get back to you soon and sort it all out. Good luck! :( |

Buy themselves time? Well I just logged into my e-checking and my bank information seems to be in order.
I really hope it was just that and we get it all sorted out soon. I filed the petition yesterday so I hope to get a reply today or tomorrow.
Thing is, this couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm on vacation from classes for the next 30 days and I have nothing to do! |

Changing your login details means it takes you slightly longer to get back into your account, meaning they have slightly longer to do whatever naughtiness it is they're doing. At least that's my guess! |

Please excuse me for saying this, but from the way you happened to include in your forum post the completely innocent billion isk that may have floated into your wallet recently it kinda seems you may have purchased some iskies and got caught. Again i apologise if this isnt the case but when people come onto these forums complaining about random bans they always seem to feel the need to include reasons they have so much money :/
I'd be interested to know if your petition shows an illegal isk purchase.
I hear usually they just take the cash back from your wallet and leave you a billion in the red, but you mentioned you have had a warning previously so i wouldn't put it past em to just ban you outright. So a player from 2005 gives me some ISK and buys me some stuff and that makes me an RMT? I'm failing to understand how you came to that conclusion. I didn't give him any real life incentive to help me.

He is skeptical because there are tons of people who post on the forums about being banned for 'no reason', which then turns into a threadnaught culminating in a GM coming in to say "Welp, looks like by making this thread you are forfeiting your right to privacy in this matter, so... *evidence that the OP was buying ISK*.
ISK purchasing is far and away the biggest reason people get banned "For no reason".
...That said, none of us can tell you why you were banned. If you didn't buy ISK, it's also possible that your account was compromised and the GMs banned it for protection; they do that. Or there's a (small) possibility that they just ****** up.
Go to the main EVE site (www.eve-online.com), login and file a petition. Yes, you can do this while banned. |

In my search to find out more about banning and why I may have been banned, I read this in another thread:
Simetraz wrote:Just out of curiousity did you buy a character recently.
I only ask cause it appears to be the common connection, at least for those that post about banning on the forums.
I did in fact buy a character off the Character Bazaar forum about a 1 month and a handful of days ago. |

I never said I was banned "for no reason", and I never bought ISK ever - period.
I went to eve-online.com, tried to log-in, and it just forwards me to the new Account Management page, which won't let me in. Unless I'm missing a "log in" button somewhere.
Xercodo wrote:It's not that you have a lot of ISK, it's the fact you got so much of it from another player seemingly for free.
I never said he gave me liquid ISK, I said he's invested in me. And it's not for free - we're working on an Industrial project together. He didn't just hand me 1bil liquid ISK and tell me "don't spend it all in 1 place, now." He invested 1 bil of ISK on the expectation that I would work with him to turn a profit. BTW maybe you should check out Market Discussions if you think it's weird that players pass billions of ISK to each other.
Sheesh. |

Read something on the E-University forums about spyware, and I ran a scan of my computer. I found some standard stuff by "Right Media" (always shows up, it's cookies and stuff) but today something new appeared: W3i.IQ5.fraud. This has never appeared before and when I expanded the details, there was some registry stuff, one of which was HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Freeze.com.
This is interesting because I was recently reading about the player "Nightfreeze" and I'm wondering if one of the websites I want to was a phishing site?
Does anyone know what W3i.IQ5.fraud is?
And also: Does it usually say you have "incorrect login details" when you try to login to a banned account via the game client, or does it say "Account banned."? |

If you sent in a petition just wait for it to be looked at. With over 50k other players (all of which seem to be filing petitions at the same time) it can take a while. When my account got hacked it took 4 days to get a response during which time they took all my isks and moved my BS to a hostile system (where it resides to this day) |

Did CCP restore your ISK at least? I don't think I would be able to continue playing if my assets weren't restored to me. Especially considering someone was finally nice enough to partner with me on a huge project. |

Fairly certain discussing bans is not allowed here. You just need to wait on a petition response. Not saying you broke the rules or anything since I don't know the specifics but nobody gets banned for no reason. |

Few ideas after reading this thread:
Did the banned account have the character you bought recently? In that case make sure to mention in petition that you bought the character recently -- sometimes account has been banned in error because of past actions of that character.
Are you sure that the 1 bil you got has been earned honestly? If RMT player or botter would give a lot of "dirty" ISK to you, CCP might think that you are working with him even if you didn't know anything about that.
But in the end you can just petition it and wait for CCP to answer. Unfortunately sometimes it has taken 1 week to get answer and up to 3 weeks to get situation solved (based on earlier forum discussions about bans.) |

the w3i.iQ5 is a downloader/adware, according to Spybot. Here's how to remove it:

My guess is that the player who gave you so many iskies, was buying them. Has he had his account banned too?
CCP may see the huge transfers, and see it as laundering. Hence the ban. |

No actual ISK was transferred to me. (Except for 100 million to use a Corp standing service). He has bought equipment and materials.
And no, he is not banned. He's from 2005. |

Usually this, if you have been used in ISK laundering then all involved usually get a blanket ban while it's been sorted out. |

Hello Leid Menmarke,
I am sorry to hear about this. But the only people that can answer your question is a GM. They will only answer these types of questions through the petition system.
You can file a petition 3 different ways.
1) In-game with another account stating what happened and give the character(s) names that are yours. 2) Through the support website: https://support.eveonline.com/pages/petitions/createpetition.aspx 3) By Email [email protected]
The time it takes varies as there are hundreds of petitions that the GMs need to answer. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Customer_Support This is really the only reason to find out why your account was banned/suspended.
Also note that if you put in your password wrong 3 times on the forums it will lock your account out so I don't know if that is what you were experiencing or not. Beyond that everything else could be a guess.
I hope this helped you out a little bit if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

What horrible customer service I've experienced from CCP. First I receive a warning (1 month ago or more) about using "exploits". No further information is given. I petition it. I then have to wait 3 days for them to answer my petition to explain what the "exploit" was, and it turned out to not even be an exploit in the first place. Then I'm banned with no notification, and have waited 1 week so far with no response to my petition inquiring why I'm banned, let alone how I can get my accounts back.
Last Wednesday I was playing with the idea of pulling out two 6 month subs for my main accounts, but decided to wait a day. And all I have to say is thank GOD I decided to wait that day before pulling the subs, because I was banned in the meanwhile and CCP doesn't offer refunds for any reason. |
