Edited by: Murehz on 21/03/2007 15:53:40 Woot, another one of these threads.
Just wondering about recomendations of which class/race to waork towards... quick rundown of what I like be be able to do in my ship.
I'm generally where I shouldn't be and mainly for that reason when going for a kill I like to be able to get in, get the job done, and get back out again.
So any suggestions for a guy who is generally where he shouldn't be and doesn't want to get caught there with his pants down.
P.S. I don't like being in slow or sluggish feeling ships.

My advice would be try a few different races, mine or do missions get enough to buy the 4 races frigate skills books and just have ago.
Everybody likes different ships and what they think they will like when they start and what they like after a couple of months tend to be fairly different. Once you have played the game for awhile you will be able to decide what you want out of a ship and then choose a race to fit that need!
On the other hand Caldari rule so fly them...

If I were to start again, id' go for Gallente. Best @ PvP (in my opinion) and since missions are safe working environments, it's ok to use something other than a Raven.
If you want all-rounder ships, go Minmatar, but Matari ships take alot of SP to get the best out of them, unlike Caldari, which are noob friendly. ---

I've brought the 4 races skill books... and 1 of each type of the 4 races frigs... and named/faction modules to fit them, so I'm past the first stage .
I don't have a clue about what the differenct battleships/tech 2 ships are like and I'm not bout to go and train all of them and buy them all and then decide which one I like.
All i want is a suggestion of a quick feeling ship that can get in, get the job done, and get back out again.
I was thinking maybe the hurricane/vagabond or maelstrom/tempest for larger things. Do these seem like reasonable choices or would gallente blasterboats be better at the speedy get in do job get out style whilst still feeling fast?

To be honest I fly Caldari pretty exclusively as I like missles and being gang/fleet support. So I can't really say how blasterboats feel (not that helpful I know) but it sounds like you have made your choice. Go with your gut feeling on ships, thats what I did and I haven't looked back. All race's ships have drawbacks the trick I have discovered is to fit them to their strengths as to minimise their weaknesses. As a vetern pilot once said to me "it really doesn't matter what you fly as long as you fly it well" thats what I try to do. On a side note, if you are looking to do PvP, solo or small gang then don't fly Caldari, I will be the first to admit they suck compared to the other races, with the possible exception of the Amarr (sometimes).
/edit actually thinking about it go with Gallente, they do everything that you want to do! Plus I have lost every single time I have been up against a Gallente ship...

Kk, thanx. Out of curiosity, which race in general feels less sluggish when you get to ships BC sized and above, minmatar or gallente?

Minnie ships tend to do exactly what you are looking for. Look for the vagabond or the hurricane for quickstriking/getting out goodness. The stabber can be fun if harrassing while you skill towards the more advanced stuff.
Gallante tend to be very skill intensive and are a bit heavier feeling in the drivers seat. Some may say they are better for PvP, but that is generally only for 1v1's. In a gang the minnie ships have a great role and are fun to fly.
While a lot of Gallente ships are more massive than their minnie counter-parts they aren't necessarily sluggish feeling. For that go for Caldari

train for HAC's get a demios (gallente)
fit t2 blasters.
laugh
side note: anything bc or bigger always feels slow and sluggish unless you have good navigation skills.
blaster megathrons are stupidly high dps if you fit in a suicide fitting (no reps just lots of plates) again gallente.
apart from that *shrug* any ship can be anything you want it to be as long as you have the skills to fly it well.
beor: that wasn't me that said that was it btw ? sounds like something i said in one of my rants one day :) Furious Angels are recruiting Furious Angels we do it for the girls! |

Rifter -> stabber -> hurricane -> vaga -> sleipnir.
I could make a similar line for gallente ships that are very effective in pvp, but since you want speed and agility, I'd go for the above.
