Well, as the topic says, "Is there an NPC middle ground"  
What I am searching for is a tough spawn of maybe 1 or 3 cruisers and maybe a handful of frigates surrounding it. That way it is a really good challenge and I have a good chance of getting butt kicked if I am not careful. (Sorry I dont fly a battleship like you hence why I am asking / searching for it)
Does anyone know if this exists or CCP has completely wiped it out ? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

We should be able to fight in groups some tough cruisers/frigates pirates in 0.1-0.4. For the moment, pirates aren't a challenge in these areas . And fighting in a cruiser isn't fun. It's either too hard (0.0) or too easy (empire space). I think the solution is to make pirates in 0.1-0.4 really stronger.

I totally agree. The situation is one of extremes---too easy in one system, then too hard just one jump away.
The solution I believe is to increase the frequency of cruiser spawns vs all frigate spawns. So that way instead of meeting a cruiser every few hours, it's possible to meet one every 10 to 20 minutes.
I must say that the revised cruiser NPCs are a lot stronger now, and the few times I meet them in a Level 2 cruiser, I was practically fighting for my life. The formation you should watch out generally has one 45K (formerly 40K) and 2 30K (formerly 20K rats). Examples are 1 Sansha Juggernaut/2 Ravishers, or one Serpentis in Thorax/Serpentis in Exequeror, or One Angel Marauder or Liquidator with 2 Depradators.

I have not met Gurista Terrorists after the patch, and so they are spamming missiles now? They were not before. Probably its the 12.5k that is spamming missiles.

those 30k are not harmless the spam heavy missels at 1 wvery 2-3 sec and when there is so many missel flying its like a heavy snow fall!

TomB, when this Hotfix is introduced can you explain in a thorough way how the NPC difficulty is going to be divided up in 0.1-1.0 systems and how its going to be divided up in 0.0 systems?
Also will there be any in game way to gauge what systems will have certain types of spawns? I know that security status goes further than 0.0 and can even go to something like -0.09 and -0.07 and such and should in theory dictate how hard the NPC's will be, will the true security status be shown in the game so we can try to anticipate what kind of pirates will show up at the spawns?
I truly hope that there will be more of a middle ground as I am only a cruiser pilot and would hate to be pushed out of 0.0 because the pirates are far too hard (for you hecklers, I'm not a newb, I just cant defend against a battleship in my cruiser, much like you cant with 4 buddies in battleships).
Its imperitive to be able to guage what types of pirates are going to spawn because there is nothing worse than thinking you are fighting only cruisers and then a battleship spawns way too close and you are screwed.

Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

a middle ground is a must...I lost my Moa yesterday in 10 seconds 0.0, in a place where only 10k max spawns used to be beore Castor. I found myself surrounded by npc moa's, annilators and several frigates...
Sure, my own fault as i only warped in 30km from belt away and I landed 10km away from them...I didn't realise every system in 0.0 could have me up against cruisers when there was none before...
Even places where there were no cruisers before, there are now! And this was the very first jump into 0.0 from 0.1 space...
A middle ground is needed to keep the solo players like myself interested in the game. I do wish the price of Moa's wasn't 12.5m in Lonetrek...I ain't buying one as there's no point if I can't fight anything without certain death...

As a explorer, are you saying that all my old spawns iv used all my 3 mnt in eve finding are gone for good ? Will there come new spawns in new locations i can find if i start rexplore.
Im sure you understand that i dont want to start reexplore lonetrek,the forge, pure blind and fade just to find out that its a bug that all old spawns are emty and no new spawns are comming.
I have made exploring my living in eve and are actualy making good ISK on it. Would be nice to heare some word of whats going one with the spawns around.

But please don't put in any gate NPCs, especially where the imperial security forces & concord are next to a NPC pirate one.
Just looks stupid.

I'm not so sure that Tomb should tell us how the distribution of mid level spawns will be. Wouldn't this cause people to gravitate toward this area to farm the pirates? I'm not against him letting us know I just don't know that its a good idea...might be better for a hit or miss scouting operation for people.
And yes...I lost a Dominix to our current pirate spawn in 0.0....sucks...but life er clones must go on...

Is this hotfix already in place? I was out playing yesterday and found spawns with the best spawn being 3x Nullifiers (45k Moa) + 4x Destructors (15k Merlin). They shot lots of missiles, and dropped crappy loot.. That system had much harder spawns the day before.
All the angels and the puny men of god looked away... Frightened to death by the evil that was born on that day!

I've learned that if you are in a crusier hunting npc rat spawns in 0.0 hardners of the dmg type those missiles vollys are doing are your best friend.
Caracal with EM and Ken missiles and hardners does ok if you careful.

I found some nice spawns out in 0.2-0.1 Usually its 2 40k pirates with a bunch of 8-12.5k escort. Unfortunately these are also mixed in with a bunc of little rat spawns so they are hard to come by. ----------------------------------- about:blank |
