Title says it all really. I enabled the free trial and nothing on my client has changed, no mic options, no Join Audio
Anyone have any idea on this?
PS - yes I made sure the trial was actually enabled

I have the same problem. Since i enabled Eve Voice for both my accounts nothing has changed in my client. No options for voice in the audio tab. No Join Audio option in channels nothing. Its like there is no voice in my client.
And above all i receive no error messages so i can understand what is happening. Maybe there is a conflict with my onboard sound card. I have ASUS P5W DH Deluxe with realtek soundcard.

Stupid question perhaps but did you restart the client after you activated the free trial?

I restarted the client about 5-6 times. I opened the required ports on the router. I get no error messages ingame like my client doesn't have eve voice.

Cool, at least i'm not alone :)
To add to the troubleshooting done so far, I have also cleared my cache folder as well as completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game but still no luck. Its like voice isn't patched into my client.

a troubleshooting question.
Do we all have realtek soundcards cause i have come to the conclusion that this might be our problem.

I don't, but how can that be a cause of the client not displaying anything related to eve voice?

I don't really know but maybe a conflict with the realtek driver or something. Cause it is not my ISP.A friend of mine has the same ISP and he is ok. He has the same modem (USR 9107) and he didn't even opened the 5060 port.UPnP must have made it automatically.
I'm very confused about this.

Exactly the same here, activated eve talk account, installed patch, even reinstalled the whole client, no new options no new nothing, apart from the shortcut for talk in the shortcut tab of the escape screen. Other than that everything in the patch notes is present, just no eve talk, anywhere.
Any help?

Edited by: Rekless Revenge on 23/03/2007 20:45:52 I had to turn off 5.1 surround and switch to 2 speaker setup to get mine working. Is this normal? I have a seperate front panel headphone/mic socket from the rear panel speaker connections.

I'm getting the same problem, the client doesn't have anything eve-voice related, nothing in right click menus, Audio tab in ESC is the same as pre-patch. Client's version number is the latest...

I have the Azalia onboard sound on my mobo disabled in the bios, and a cheap c-media 5.1 soundcard plugged in.

I have a SB Audigy 4 and it¦s not working on my voice enabled account, so at least I doubt it¦s a problem with the soundcard. TS is working fine for me though.

Ok so i'm wrong for the realtek thingy. But now i'm confused even more. From my point of view:
a.Not a problem of the ISP b.Not a problem of the 5060 port that the FAQ's at Eve-o say. c.As it appears there is no problem with one particular SC. d.Not a problem with firewall cause i disabled it. e.I run the Eve Logserver and i didn't noticed something bad (although i'm not an expert on these things).
I don't know where else to look for this crazy problem. Come on guys keep troubleshooting. We might find a solution at the end.

Suggests to me that activating EVE:V on the website is not reliably updating account details - which means CCP have a pretty significant bug to iron out - especially in a month when people will be PAYING for the service.

Edited by: illjudged on 26/03/2007 20:32:28 I got mine to work!!! :)
K first off try www.testyourvoip.com, if the test works then you should be fine. If it doesn't work then most likely you are experiencing a firewall issue like I was. Make sure you disable any software firewalls you may have running such as zone alarm or even windows built-in firewall. Then make sure that if you are using a router to connect to the Internet that it's built in firewall is either disabled or the following ports are opened...
* Incoming UDP port 5060 * Outgoing TCP port 80 and 443 * All outgoing UDP ports above 1023
If doing all of this still doesn't fix your problem (Like it didn't for me :) then you may want to upgrade the firmware of your router by downloading the newest version from the manufacturerÆs website. That was the thing that finally resolved my issue, my router is about 3 years old and the firmware that it was using really didn't take into account VOIP. So after I upgraded the firmware I didn't have to do any port forwarding or further "messing" with the router. The www.testyourvoip.com test worked and the next time I logged into eve the voice worked!!!
Now one thing that does need to be pointed out that initially confused me was the fact that there was nothing added to my client that would lead me to believe that eve voice was in fact enabled. There were no additional audio settings available and I couldn't right click and hit "Join Audio" like ccp's directions stated. This initially lead me to believe I had a bad patch or something. Well come to find out when you login for the first time after enabling eve voice IF your client can communicate over the correct ports to Vivox's servers it enables and upgrades your voice account information there by adding the missing pieces to the client. The right click to join audio and all that good stuff. You will no for a fact this has happend because after you select your character and are being loaded into a station a nice little text box pops up stating "validating voice account bla bla bla enabling voice account bla bla bla"
I hope this helps

Thanks, the lack of error messages was really annoying :S
Now I know it's a firewall/forwarding issue I can probably fix it...

Working on my PC but not my brothers!
I login to his account, and it has the options, works fine.
He logs into his account, no options!
WHY HAS CCP NOT COMMENTED ON THIS THREAD WITH SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO RESOLVE THIS?!

all i want to know is how to end the trial!
as far as joining a channel--- ccp felt it was more important to tell you how to PLUG the mic in, and headphones. they all think we dont know how to turn on comp and thier chat thing is instinct needs no tutoral! run a test i got a 4.5 as if it mattered
ok back to join you have to go to title of channel right click it says blink on off close or join chat bam hit join as if it matters still no sound no answer anybody figure out how to lose the voice deal i was going to buy it but said all this greif need to do this that and buy that this and go to this site that site to make it work? screw that ccp keep it for the BOD! turn mine off cause all i see to work the voice is check comp make sure it has a connection for mic ,plug the mic in also make sure to plug headphones in then um lets see we atr ccp think your a butt tard and dont know how to con fig a mic ! so we will drone on about how fixes are comming in next patch and blah blah blah. ntm did we fail to say we will never respond to threads that dont tell us how great the nerw features are?

Similar Problem here: I HAD Voice with all options and it worked quite fine, but since the last Patch all Voice Options vanished from the Client. Re-install didn't take any effect. Same problem on two accounts on two different Computers and different Soundcards. I hope, I won't have to pay for it ;)

Exactly the same problem for me !! Eve voice just vanished, i also tried to reinstall on both my computers with no success . But when i log on to the test server Singularity Eve Voice works just fine !. From my point of view the problem isnt ours!, The answer ive got from CCP is that u should reinstall the client at another destination on ur pc, yeah like that worked!

Same for me. Activated trial but can't see anything has changed in the client. Can someone here confirm if changes are visible in the client even *with* the incoming port 5060 blocked by a firewall? And if so, what would such a change be?

I've tried the following and it worked (can it be that simple ??): Deactivate the Firewall -> Start EVE -> Select a Character ---> Voice is activated -> Quit EVE and re-activate the Firewall. Next time you start EVE, you have the Voice working (at least I had) ---------- Gungnir: in the nordic mythology the golden jevelin of the Odin, which was forged by dwarves. He never stops in his impact. By it the war came into the world... |
