VJ Maverick Caldari Maverick Specialized Services	Posted - 2007.03.22 07:14:00 - [1] So I started the game wanting to go stealth bombers and recons. Got into a Manticore, which is a fine ship if you catch someone sleeping. Then I started training recons. Got to Recon Ships and decided to go with Rapier instead of a Pilgrim or Arazu. So I started training Minnie - starting with frigs. I got a Rifter as stepping stone to a Rupture and eventually to a Rapier. My first impression of the Rifter: I have never had this much fun in this game. Please note that I started Caldari and spent many hours grinding missions in a Kestrel - very effective and very boring. The Rifter? So completely different, so completely awesome! Yes, I die a LOT more doing missions than in a Kestrel. But running around in the middle of the action with AC's blazing is worth dying a hundred times. Ra-ta-ta-ta-ta BOOM! Does life get better? I submit that that it does NOT!

Its allmost on-pair with the amarr Punisher, both capable of running lvl2-3 missions and some 3-4/10 complexes if flown right. Who cares if he dies in it, as long as he's having fun :) sgb

Back when I ran missions in empire, I started using a speed tanked stabber because it was cheaper than a rupture. Zipping around like dragonfly on speed never got old. Killing triple 1.85 mil spawns in a Cyclone was also a hoot.

I love them for missions, lvl 1-3 are alot of fun, some can be hard but it depends on your fitting. But still go for the "go in with guns blazing and get out for victory dancing". Alot of fun yes indeed. Uber in all other cases? Probably not, but its damn fun to fly. Please resize e-peen to a maximum of 150x40R, not exceeding 0.5kg, ty. I have 4 mil SP in missiles and flew Caldari until now. I can fly a mission in a Kestrel or Caracal blindfolded without taking any damage. Now, with the Rifter, I have Min Frig 3 and about 30K SP in guns. And I'm doing level 2 missions with autocannons. That's a recipe for dying a lot no matter how you cut it. But I'm getting my skills up for guns and this particular style of combat. And I'm having a blast! So why don't you let me decide what I'm capable of. kthnx.

L2 missions in a Rifter aren't easy, especially with low skills for it. And you will die a time or two if you'd rather test the ship's limits than warp out any time your tank starts failing. I don't think PvE in this game is that hot generally, but I loved Riftering L2s. Jaguars and Wolves are great in L3s too. Have fun. edit: Actually if you want to read some really cool stories about a guy doing the same thing, look for posts from 10-11 months ago by a guy named Neckbone. Oh yeah, and welcome to the fun world of gunnery too. Some caldari pilots don't even immagine how much more fun that ratting trip/gatecamp or whatever, can be if they use guns instead. ---

Like a diamond-plated Rifter--for toughness, I mean, not bling. Everyone loves Jaguars but I just love my Wolf. Great to jump back into a Rifter now and again though! This is an alt on that account, have no other skills than the ones when I created him. When I wanna fun, I play on this char in a rifter, with autocanons or artillery (I love the HUGE dmg modifier, no matter of slow rof lol).
