Since someone's bought this one up, I'll weigh in.
Personally, I'm not 'screaming' or 'whinging', but I am registering my dissatisfaction.
As this DT has been at a fixed time for so long, it's become accepted - but that doesn't make it any more palatable.
It's a bit like rubbish dumps and nuclear waste sites - the 'not in my backyard' position is universally held.. but it has to go SOMEWHERE. Like DT.
If it's something Australians should just 'live with', then how about your TZ take on a bit of DT? Then *you* can just "live with it". Seriously though, a fair solution would be to rotate downtime in long cycles, just to share the load around a little. In the interests of fairness.

Australians, stop being so self centred.
According to the stats at eveinfo.com, 2.25% of the visitors there are Australian.
Now, I realise there's also a lot of people from New Zealand with the same time zone problems, however, they're not a large enough group to show there. Likewise Slovenia, Lithuania, Mexico, Brazil etc also do not show there, so it's not possible to tell what percentage of Eve players are from New Zealand.
Now there's no guarantee that the 2.25% is correct - but how wrong can it be? Statisically speaking it can't be more than 3% of the population of Eve is Australian.
The sad fact is that if 3% of the population is Australian, then Australians don't matter. Edit : That's better said that if 3% are Austrialian then there is no way the other 97% should get screwed over to throw the Australians a bone.
Now have a look in more detail about where the numbers of people that play Eve come from? North America, and Western Europe.
Why is downtime at 11am GMT? Because it's the best time to have it.

I kind of agree with Ionia... DT in our peak playing time is a real pain in the ass, but it's a small price to pay for living in this amazing country. I went to Oz on honeymoon over Christmas and the New Year, and it's a great place full of great people.
I'd move there in an instant, but it's a bit far away so I'm hoping someone will work out a way to tow it over here, and swap it with France.
I've nothing to add about the DT, but wanted to back up the Aussies who are getting some unfair knocking!

Easy solution for the problem would be to move all aussie players to the chinese server.
That way the aussies get their DT changed AND we achieve less lag for the rest, from my pov a total win-win.

There are all these new people in the belts, who won't accept our convo requests.
They type in some funny characters, and all have these nonsense made up names that they must have just randonly hit the keyboard. Names like Dave Dangerous and Ken KominToKillYa.

Personaly I think DT is at a good time, I live and work on the east cost of Australia and I get in a few hours every night. And as I have to be up early for work 9pm is usually when I go to bed so no inconvinence at all. Plus the extended DT's that start at 11:00 gmt and go for several hours are great as I am asleep and lose nothing, sure I get annoyed when the DT's are earlier but that just gives me a chance to get a break from eve. No matter when DT is someone is going to be inconvenienced, and lets be honest DT is in when the player base is at low numbers so it makes alot of sence for it to be then.

Personally I would love to see downtime pushed 2hrs either way. As it stands at 9pm-10pm (hopefully.....) it does suck. To be honest its probably my biggest gripe with Eve.
Hearing all the Euro's and Americans saying suck it down really gets on my nerves. If DT was right in the middle of your peak time all hell would break loose. And for the record....in our peak time there is usually 14-18k users still on so its not the place is empty. What is particualy frustrating (as the OP said) is if there is ANY issue....we might as well write the night off.
Please please CCP.....move it either forwards or backwards a bit. Is it possible to shift it around a bit to "share the love" say once every month or three. At least consider it.

If we move it 2 hours forward, would there be ANYONE who would then be inconvenienced by it at all? A few hours west is China et al, who're on Serenity anyway. For europeans, whether it is 10 or 12 it should make little difference... if you can play at that time then you most likely have the entire day to play anyway. For the thousands of aussies who WORK, we can only fit in a couple of hours a night.
Before you accuse us of whining, why don't you sign off at 9pm/10pm EVERY night to see what we mean? What's that? It would cut your gaming time in half? Your corp activities would be impossible? There'd be no time to get your missions done? Welcome to our world!
Why the hell do you euros feel so threatened by a 2 hour shift in DT when it obviously affects you much much MUCH less than us?!
