How do these work..
For instance ---
You drop the drone in a belt of astorids and it mines with you filling up your hold automatically?
You drop the drone out in the Belt on itĘs own and move off coming back later to collect the mined materials?
You can send the drone off from some distance from the belt and it will mine for you returning to you when full?
So many questions lol
Cheers

You target a roid and launch the drone. Order it to mine and wait a minute. After the drone's completed it's 1 minute long cycle, it'll come back to you and drop it's ore in your cargo hold.

A couple of tips on using mining drones (for people who don't want to dig through the excellent but sizeable mining guide):
- Mining drones are fragile. REALLY fragile. And NPC rats love to target them first. If you try to use these while mining solo you will probably lose them frequently.
- You need to be as close as you can get to the asteroid you target for mining drones, otherwise they waste a lot of time flying back and forth between the ship and the rock.
- When the asteroid they're mining gets depleted, they don't start on a new one by themselves, they just go idle. Keep an eye on the lazy things.

don't fly off and leave your drones. if you do someone else can grab them. they stop working when you warp away and you have to scoop them back into your drone bay before they will work again.
combat drones work same, but many people will leave them when in combat, if the need arises. better to ditch the drones then loose your ship. you can always come back after regain shields/armor repaired.
with mining drones is better to send them to a rock under 5km, as that way they mine and dump in ship right away. if over 5km from rock they take time to travel back and forth. also tell them to mine repeatedly or they mine 1 cycle then stop. if the drones are under 1500 meters you can quickly scoop back to drone bay or cargo hold.
a trick some use in lower security systems is to take combat ship and mining drones. have drones mine. but you are not ready for that.

also a good tid bit theres a comple of skills you need to make it anywhere efective first off is obvisley mineing drone operation to at least 3 or 4 then dones to level five this does two things lets you just five miners and lets u train the most important skill dore interfacing gives you 20% increse per level at level five thats 100% not bad with five haversters also not sure but i think mining forman also helps out not sure had it to lv 4 before drones
