I understand why the ruling stands for this year, and it sucks, but you can't really complain about it from a rules sense.
However, could there not be a provision, that under exceptional circumstances, when several server disconnects happen at once due to an issue from CCP's end, CCP has the option to re-run the match?
This would make sense, as it would stop people deliberately disconnecting to replay matches, and even if a server issue did occur, it doesn't necessarily mean the match will be replayed.
When it gets to the finals, and you literally sometimes have 4 minutes to prepare for the next match, it is really incredibly hard for the players to come back from a loss like that which wasnt their fault.
While I'm on the subject, having that short a turnaround between matches is really not fair on anyone. TUSKERS had to fight like that twice in one day. The level of fatigue and stress is enough without compounding it by forcing people to play the most stressful hour of often 3 months worth of prep. I understand you have a schedule to keep to, but I honestly think you should look at making the times between matches longer in the final weekend. It's been an issue for years, and we're not the only ones to complain about it. It basically gives whoever is in the winner's bracket a double advantage because the team theyre facing has had to rush around like mad.
Nobody wants to see the tournament influenced in the final for something as crappy as a server issue. Hundreds hours of work wasted because of something so out of your control. There has to be a way to incorporate a disconnect of that nature into the ruleset without people exploiting it. Can you at least consider adding a provision like that? |

This is a hard one to deal with to fairly represent both teams since there are so many factors that could affect connection between players/CCP. Maybe if both teams agree to it, then yes GÇô have a match replay.
I would have to say a provision like the above only be relegated to the final weekend? There was a slew of apparent disconnections the first couple weekends. FGC being one of them. I wouldnGÇÖt expect CCP to replay all those matches.

Yeah I totally agree, that replaying every match where there are disconnects would not be fair. However, if a rule was in place which allowed it in exceptional circumstances, the GM's could decide whether to apply it or not on a case by case basis.
In a situation like the one we just had, where the GM's admitted on stream that there was server issues on their end, it would then be their call to decide whether or not to replay the match.
I kind of feel like not having a rule like this would be a really bad thing to do, as it basically says, yes, there are server issues, yes it influenced the outcome of the final, but tough luck because "the rules say" we're not replaying the match. Even if it isn't meant that way, it feels like a cop out. Whats the point in spending hundreds of hours practicing if at the end of it all it just comes down to which team disconnects less? |

I'm a complete IT / Network ****** so correct me if i'm wrong, but surely there is a way to tell the difference between a disconnect / packet loss on a player / client side VS the server having issues on the CCP side. Thats the most frustrating thing, and what hurt most about Logibros Statement.
Quote:This is part of the reality of having the contest be run with participants connecting over the internet.
The issue wasn't our internet, it was the server which is entirely in CCP's control.
I completely agree if a player crashes client side, results should stand as that is out of CCP's control. But when server performance is to blame match should be replayed. There has to be a clause added next year especially with the massive increase of server issues in the past 6 months or so. |

If it is a server issue, it is entirely within CCP's ability to do something about it. But if its an internet connectivity issue, then it is not within CCP's ability to correct.
I agree with OP. I feel it is CCP's responsibility to ensure the tournament environment is stable. Having some sort of clause or fallback for server issues should be a thing.

+1 for adding exception to the rule. Disconnect is something different than server issues.

I would also suggest a move away from the best of series at the end until the final if you want more time to prepare. To be honest as a pilot I'd love to get that far in the tournament but as an organiser of a team it would be a nightmare.
Its hard enough to make sure everyone is in the right ship with all the right implants etc etc after bans even during the early rounds where you have closer to 20min. I have no idea how most teams would handle that last day in terms of logistics. I can see how a DC could really break you at that point after all the hard work.
As a viewer it was also annoying that the fight where that happened was affected because it was shaping up to be a seriously good scrap. |

Op is right on both subjects. CCPls make it happen.
final day is stressful even if you don't have to go through losers brackets, so can't imagine how bad it must be for captains that have to cope with that. Plus regular pilots aswell. AT is all fun, until you reach the last fights of final and you don't even care anymore who wins, as long as it's finally over. |
