Pretty good so far I might add, despite the bugs from the incompetence of the coders. That is what community patches are for. -=#=- Touch my Sig now... I dare you.

Bloodlines was a good atempt a game and a good way to show developers how NOT to release a game. The game itself could have been fun but it was clearly not finished when it was released, even with the myriad of patchs its still twitchy and feels undone. Although if your willing to look past the heaps of bugs yada yada its quite a fun game. Lots of gameplay and a great atmosphere to the game... also the first game to be powered by the source engine, even bet HL2 out of the gate... although thats not necessarily a good thing in this case.

It wasn't so much the fault of incompetent developers as it was the fault of a publisher unwilling to wait for a finished product and forcing an early release. Also keep in mind, the original developers have contributed to those unofficial patches.
Anyway, I'm extremely fond of Bloodlines, bugs aside. Was lots of fun and had a really great atmosphere - I mean it nearly felt... hmm... cozy at times, similar to a really great oldschool adventure game only without all the annoying pixel-hunting and item combination.

I used to play the PnP game years ago. I had an 8th generation Ventrue that I played for several years. Was a nice system until all the overpowered crap came out (Mummies etc).

There was also another game Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, which was rather enjoyable.
As for PnP, I own a huge selection of rulebooks from games I have never played, Vampire (old and new) amongst them. I like to collect worlds.
I'm not sure how I feel about Requiem compared to Masquerade, I guess Requiem will improve when there is more history to it. Of course MMO wise we'll make plenty of that ourselves, provided the framework is good.
Must admit implementing the Gehenna/Apocalypse/Ascension was a bold move and it always made the world of darkness that much darker knowing that the end of times was around the corner. Had to come sooner or later.

Bloodlines is a very good game but as has been mentioned, prone to a few bugs. The first play through I ran an unpatched game and I don't think I encountered any, but you can expect crashes, freezes and the odd bit of behaviour (rewards not appearing, penalties/awards assigned incorrectly, etc).
The game itself is great fun, and while most missions only have one outcome, there are a few opportunities to affect the bigger picture, particularly with the optional quests you do (or don't). It's very replayable too, as your powers really do greatly affect how you play, as well as your clan. If it's your first time through, try a Brujah, Tremere, Toreador or Ventrue as they're a little easier to play and are fairly good all rounders.
It's definitely worth playing through as a Malkavian at least once, but not on a first ***** as the insane conversation options will make it harder to get to grips with. They're powers are IMO the most fun of the lot, and none of them "break the masquerade" meaning you can do whatever you like, wherever and whenever you please. I've heard it's also worth having a go with nosferatu as with the need to be always unseen it makes the game quite different. Gangrel could be fun to but you'll want to have a low humanity and lots of SPs invested in Protean I'd imagine. I haven't tried those last two personally. Having played through as a Toreador, Malkavian & Tremere I think the Malk was the most interesting. Obfuscate is brilliant, and Dementia better still!
There's a lot to see and do, and many different benefits for having different skills which make playing it quite fun. Your clan will make a difference and you'll find some bits easier or tougher depending on that. The missions are fairly varied and interesting and the characters and world of darkness are very interesting too. Definitely worth checking out, but make sure to patch it with the official 1.2 patch. You can also consider installing the player-made 3.5 patch. It adds a few things, changes a few things, balances some others and changes a few dialogue options. I don't think I enjoyed the game any more with or without it so I wouldn't really recommend it, but it's still worth a peak, especially as it does address some other bugs the 1.2 one didn't. -------------

I have no friends (that play anything WW has ever made), so no.
However I might have to look into it depending on how the WoD MMO goes.

I think the pc version was the best vampire game to come out in the history of vampire games...
however.. it was a tad buggy, and very closed.. while free at the same time.. *sigh...*
Think I might have to play it again but.. nah.. Too bored.. no replay value after 3-4th time really.

I really love Vampire Bloodlines. With the recent player patches, most of the bugs are gone and its quite enjoyable. Definitely one of the best RPG games around IMO.

I used to be a real VTES etc nut and had pretty much all the vampire and werewolf stuff and supplements, and almost all the cards for the ccg, though I ditched a lot on ebay when I stopped playing.
I always used to play Tremere or Nosferatu.
Bllodlines is a great game (yes, very, very buggy) and the second (I think) VTES game for the PC (the other one was pretty good fun as well though very dated now, but you can pick it up for like ú1.99).

I have played and GM'd the Vampire / World of Darkness genre a fair bit. Nice system overall. Quite interested to see if White Wolf produce a EvE RPG P&P game, and if they would use the same system.

PnP, LARP, Vampire Masquerade: Redemption, and Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines. Done them all - love 'em all.
Both PC games were a lot of fun. Redemption was not so true to the original, Bloodlines wasn't quite right either though. I really enjoyed playing both, despite the bugs. Redemption had a multi-player on it, was fun for a bit, but did get boring after a while... GMs didn't know what they were doing or simply sucked more often than not. I love that game universe though! Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

V:tM p&p player here, have my lovely nosferatu character :)
Also, Bloodlines is fun, despite a few bugs and such - I especially love playing Malk, both because of the insane answers, but also the ability to Obfuscate - which is really really useful. And she has a great arse to stare at when running :D

Devs, please remember this when designing walking in stations and the WoD MMO! Given the whole third person experience, it is difficult to overvalue the ass!
MxO had a great selection of actual bootyliciousness (roundness, shelfiness, projection), but for fundamental fleshly fluidics, no moving ass beats the asses of original EverQuest. If you doubt this, go to the bank in Highkeep and stand right behind the banker, especially as she fidgets every now and then.
Of course, rather than choosing, it's better to make sure we have lots of body design sliders, so we can customize. Ideally, we'd have motion sliders as well, so we can choose any type of walk, from the extremes of a muscular uptight military walk all the way to Tasha Yar in "The Naked Now".

QFT - maybe they could introduce some "hot coffee" style patches too?
If they did then I can imagine uses for F1 to F5, after that its beyond my realms of experience. Well maybe F6 if I got really drunk, but that's it.
