Whenever I select my character, it goes to that loading screen and the little box in the middle says "Entering". It gets stuck constantly at "Checking Navigation Systems" and it never loads. I tried to get on this morning and let it sit at this part of the "entering phase" for over 2 hours. What's wrong? Is there a fix? Is anyone else experiencing these problems? |

Currently sitting watching that screen.
Deleted everything under 'machonet' with no positive result.

In what may be a related story, I'm stuck at the login screen for no apparent reason. Says I'm #18 in the queue. If so, it takes a hell of a lot longer to login 18 people than I think it should.

I've received numerous replies from GM's. First they told me to change my cache, then they moved me to a different system and then they put me back in the dock. None of these ideas has worked. This is beginning to become quite ridiculous. If I'm not able to play my character by tomorrow, I'm going to demand compensation.

Tried again this morning and it still sticks at 'Checking Navigation Systems'.
Other character logs in fine. I have petitioned under 'stuck'.

Okay,
Got advised to change the cache directory. renamed the cache directory to 'cache1', then restarted the client.
Worked, but obviously my settings were borked. So I deleted all subdirs under 'cache1' except for 'settings' and left the patches/prefs.ini in place.
Deleted the new 'cache' directory, and renamed 'cache1' to 'cache'.
Logged in again and everything is back to 'normal', relatively speaking.
The symptoms of something being wrong were originally a fried map display and a totally confused autopilot. If I had the time I'd suspect the map cache was fried and deleting the '.blue' file would probably give results. Utimately if it's a corrupt file elsewhere than the cache, then finding it could be difficult.
Anyway, I'm back....hope the above helps.

Tell a lie, the map is borked, and everywhere is 2.4 million jumps away.
<sigh> Trying something out.

Everything's back for me, but I'm working on testing steps to figure out a nasty bug in the map that can cause what appears to be corruption to the client.
Hint: After getting back from the 'checking navigation systems' blackscreen, make sure that your waypoints are set to the safest route on the map control, then get rid of your route entirely. Seems that the map now allows you to set 'impossible' routes by setting up a low sec route, then getting fritzed when you ask it to 'safe' the route.
'Impossible' routes appear to make the client unhappy when 'checking navigation systems' or exiting from the station.

I started to have that issue when I changed the autopilot settings - selected to ignore the stargates where pod kills have been occured. The only solution for the problem was to delete the whole cache folder.

I had this problem as well. I was trying to use the map to find a safer route through some 0.0 space and had checked the avoid systems where podkilling has occurred option. Symptoms prior to lockup were similar to the other reports: Most things showed up as 2.4xxxx million jumps away. Autopilot very confused - set a waypoint, but autopilot claims no waypoint set And then the first time I tried to exit a station after that - the never ending Checking Navigation Systems box.
I ended up deleting the entire cache directory

I have this problem as well - and in my case I think it may have also been related to the map. I was playing with the map and it would not load properly - I believe the problem was that I set a waypoint to a system that was not possible to reach - W6.. something with a L1 Jovian agent. I wanted to see how many jumps away it was - it did not report the number of jumps but did not list it as impossible - it just didn't show up at all - it also did not allow me to remove the waypoint I had set. When I went to undock - or login after logging out - it reaches the "Entering Space" screen and sits there indefinitely (20 minutes so far) - I plan to report it as a bug. I'll try removing cache files to see if I can fix it. Does anyone know which file in particular is related to map waypoints?

I can't get my character to work. Alternates work fine, but I'm stuck at the "Checking nav. systems" screen. This is absolutely rediculous.

I had a GM reset me into a station, but then I never got out of it. Once I did get out, I got the same error. This isn't making any progress either, deleting the cache does nothing.

I had a similar problem after messing around in the map screen and trying to set autopilot destinations to Jove and GM space. Renaming the cache folder to "cache1" (not deleting it entirely) did the trick for me. -------------- Indecision is a terrible thing.
...or is it?

I also got the never ending load screen after trying to set destination to Jove space. What a quirky little bug. I will now rename my cahce folder to cache1 and see what happens.

No use. Even deleting the whole folder did nothing. A GM told me that CCP has not yet made EVE compatible with Vista. Do you all have Vista?

In your game directory. If you havent specified that, the default is C:\Program Files\CCP\
I tried deleting the cache folder and even install the game again myself (got the same problem). It didnt help. Oh well, guess ill just have to lose a day training on my alt. Thanks CCP. ------

ok, mine worked, renamed the cache file, so its forced to write a new one. means all my video settings are screwed up, but i can reset those.
i'll keep the old file so i can revert when they fix the issue.
i think mine is a result of changing the security penalty too far

This bug happened to only one of my characters after I tried to set a waypoint to Polaris with him. I fixed it by renaming my cache folder, but having to fix all my hotkeys, graphic settings, overview settings, and more for more than one account is a complete joke.
