I know this has been brought up before, but I didn't see it on any of the pages, so I thought I'd bring it up again.
The loot drops in EVE are terrible. Horrible, atrocious, disgusting. You get the idea. I ran a 5/10 Blood Raider 'plex with a corpmate. The total value of the loot and salvage? A little under 3-4 mil. Why even bother with looting, when it's THAT bad? From what I've seen, 75% of the ships don't even drop anything, and the ships that do, drop crappy modules that everyone has a million of... 1mn AB, Small Hull Repper, 100 Small Uranium Charges, Remote armor repper? Woohoo.
I'd love for it to go back to the days when I could kill 3 of the 11K belt rats, and get decent stuff from all of them. Now-a-days, I melt everything I get from ratting, except for the 1 in a thousand drop of a 150mm Carbide railgun.
I've heard the loot tables reset with patches, but I think that's a bit of crap. Why can't things go back to dropping good amounts of loot? I mean, most ships drop things that aren't even sized right.
I honestly would rather everything drop good modules, common drops of the lower end named mods, somewhat common dropping of higher end named mods, and have no bounties on ships, then have huge bounties, and crap, or no loot.
Of all the things in EVE that bother me, War-dec exploiting, Overpowered Nos, Caldari Online, the past (thank god) Nano-fad, I think the crappy loot bothers me the most right now.

I've have a missioning week, and one out of 20 modules is worth keeping, everything else goes into reprocessing.
And fix this bug(?) when NPC interceptor drops Anitmatter M charges and dual 150mm railgun and that kind of stuff.
Give us more named loot..

Agreed, the first time I saw CCP talk about fixing loot tables was over 2 years ago, would be nice if it actually happened...

About a week ago I was "lucky" enough to run into a dread gurista's usurper (thats the hardest gurista faction BS in 0.0 with 13+ mill bounty). Only item that had a "Dread..." in front of it was a damned dread gurista's tag. i found it quite unbelievable. Prior to this i also ran into about 3 DG bc's and got ammo. One more /signed for messed up loot tables.

It's not about faction rats dropping crap.
It's about battleships dropping tech 1 1mn ABs and small hull reps.
I specifically remember a blog in 2005 promising us to fix the loot tables so that BS wont drop frigate sized loot.
Well. At least they added the 800mm rolled tungsten...only took them 2 years though. тттттттттттт

Don't think loot tables can be really fixed; if they start to drop some 'rare' items often enough to satisfy folks, they will drop in price and become commodity..
Or in other words, is there really point to talk about loot tables as isolated case? Isn't it all about ISK per hour (considering the risks/work) of ratting? If they improve loots, they would have to cut down bounties (or boost all other professions).
There might be some issues, like isolated complex giving rewards totally out of the risk/work balance. If so, it would help to give something resembling statistics, rather than "i went there twice and didnt get any Xxx item".
Personally not that familiar with NPCs: did spend pretty many highers ratting for sec status: Average hour of Guristas in -0.27 (or so) did bring about 10M-14M per hour in bounties alone, and loot (from BS wrecks only) did include lot of named items.
So, if I was focused in ratting and felt rewards were out of place, I would say record what I did and got during a week. If several people did same and had below-par results, would be rather easy (albeit slow..) to have CCP tweak it.

i was in 0.0 today. first ship i killed was a wingleader. got a 500k-1mil cargo exstender. then i killed atleast 15 more wingleadears. 4bs spawns. lots of frigs. and i got nothing worth more than 100k... i made most money on the bounties.

Got my first Dread spawn today, and apart from the 10.5m bounty (which was nice) I only got a tag.
1 Tag that had a market value of 500k

Seriously, pick up salvaging. With that 3-4mil in loot you probably left behind 10mil or more in salvage.
CCP has shifed the ISK/rat/complex/mission towards salvaging. In fact, even a lvl 1 mission with 10-20 rats can be worth well over a mil in salvage.

Yea. Complex rats drop nothing worth talking about nowdays. I've been doing complexes for the last few weeks and with the exception of the last drops it's total **** and I'm thinking about rather mining Plag, since it is so much more profitable isk/time wise... ___ P.S. I think you could fit in this;
Last 2-3 weeks I had 9 Shadow Serpentis spawns, of all varieties and bounties. All of them except one dropped items worth less (combined) than the bounty on the Shadow. That was a Shadow Serpentis Tracking Computer, which I believe is worth around 20-30mil.
I rat quite a bit, as I'm 100% Amarr and tanking lv4 missions isn't really a efficient way of earning money, so I'm left to ratting (mining? don't insult me, I havn't done that since the tutorial). Assuming I kill quite a nice portion% of the Shadow-spawns where I am, as I rat quite a bit/frequent. Now, you'd think that'd pay off? But no, at least not for me. You might as well look back in time to 2005 when this character was created. Of all the similar spawns to the above, I think there is only that 20-30mil Tracking Computer that was worth more than the bounty on the head of the guy I killed.
Not only 'plexes need a reviewed loot, also the npcs in belts. Not everyone goes Caldari or fancy mining, would be nice if this could be somewhat balanced so also soloing pilots of all races would be able to be excited over drops and not only the money from named medium cruiser-drops and the income from refining the bs drops..

What you said... and, if they do get it changed so these items drop more often these same people will be complaining in another thread that named items are not worth anything.
That said, BS droping cruiser/frig sized loot does need to be fixed. Personally I think this would solve the issue. If BS spawns are spawning only BS sized modules then the chance of getting named ones is more eitherway.

Edited by: madaluap on 25/03/2007 02:06:53 yes crap loot. I shot a npcing player in 0.4 once, his cruiser blew up pretty quick and finished off the faction spawn he was killing. Only got a crappy 110 mil LG crystal implant from a faction frig. I also killed some faction bs and it dropped faction eam and other faction goodies.
You just got some back luck.
