Do Nosferatu's work on rats? I was testing a new setup, lots of NOS, lots of armor repair, I just wanted to get an idea what my cap usage would be. So I warped to a belt, found a rat, opened 3 NOS's on him and turned on my armor repper. I was disappointed to see my cap drained in almost no time. :(
So, does nosing even work with rats? Or only with PC targets?
Thanks!

Yes you can NOS the rats but will only help if you are using it to improve your cap. You aren't able to gimp the rats with your NOS though.

Hmmm,
That's not what I was hoping to hear. I guess I need to try something other than 3 medium NOS to keep my cap charged while using a medium armor repper.
Back to the drawing board! (Maybe time to fire up QuickFit rather than just guessing! )

This doesn't make sense.
With my skill a repper will activate every 9.6 sec. for 160 cap. If I have 3 medium NOS active I should be sucking 90 energy every 6 sec. or >135 energy every 9.6. It seems to me that I should be able to do this for a long, long, time with a starting cap of over 1000 energy, but after 1 minute my cap is half gone.
Am I calculating something wrong? Is it certain that NOS works on rats? Is there some sort of energy drain cap that is preventing me from draining 90 energy per activation?
Thanks for any help or insight!

Edited by: Tulisin Dragonflame on 24/03/2007 20:12:50 I don't think rats actually use cap, they just have a pool of it that they don't use, that means:
1. You can't gimp them with nos. 2. Anything smaller than a rat BS will run out of cap pretty quickly and no longer give you anything. Battleships, on the other hand, have an almost unlimited amount.
Frankly, I don't recommend nosferatus in PvE unless you're up against battleships and can use them as batteries.

This is my understanding too. Rats do not give you a neverending stream of power. Anything smaller than a BS gives so little as to be hardly noticeable.

Okay, so you're saying there is a small pool of cap that can be sucked with a NOS, once that is gone I no longer benefit and can no longer keep my cap refreshed.
That explains what I saw then.
And I wasn't actualy trying to use NOS on belt rats except to see how long my cap would last in a PvP fight. Unsuccessfully, it seems.
I was attempting to be frugal, this is a new setup for me, if it didn't work well I wanted to find out before committing myself to a PvP fight. LOL! So much for frugality!
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Nosferatus do work on rats. A nossed rat will tank less than one that is not being nossed. Although you are right about the cap drained; npcs don't use cap but they do have cap to drain. The larger the ship the more cap it has, you should be able to sustain 3 nos on a battleship rat, though not on anything smaller. --------------

That setup might work great in a pvp situation as NOS is the bane of any pvp'er. Read up on the ship setups that work for the ship you are using and give those a try. Fighting npc rats really won't tell you much on how your ship will work in pvp.
