I must say that I think it's not right that the boosters from the Serpentis event (for example - Copper Ouroboros Accelerator) are still for sale at silly prices and they are out of date. Personally, I and many others know that it's stupid to buy them, but for new players it's a scam and a cynically bad one.
These old boosters that are past their sell-by date should be removed or re-activated so that they can still work. Some new players wanting to boost their skill speed will be pissed-off at buying an out of date booster from anywhere from 50 mill to 400 mill and the out of date reading is in some YS figure that most new players have no idea about.
Perhaps you (CCP) should delete them after a short given amount of time after the even finishes or after their expiry date.
It's a joke that people who didn't use them are still trying to sell them and are still attempting to scam unwary people on the market now.

You are aware that scamming is perfectly fine in Eve? If you cannot read the fine print, it's your own fault.

I know scamming is fine dude...blimey!
Just that I think this one is a step too far.
However, I will be panned for making an honest statement. General scamming is fine if people are stupid...but this is CCP assisted scamming.
Thanks for your indifferent answer....haha

Scamming is a thing in EVE.
Also, people collect things, even things that don't work or have no purpose anymore, and collectibles can carry a high price.
So, asking CCP to remove these items is a bit against the spirit of the game. I'm against the removal. If they want to make them work again in the future, that's ok, but they shouldn't remove them.
EDIT: We also have (melted?) snowballs and dated fireworks that no longer work, still in game. So there's a precedent AGAINST removing these things. |

OK...no problems.....either or. Maybe they should make them work again as many folks went to long lengths to get them.
Agreed

There are blueprints for mines that can for several billions of ISK.
Mines do not work in the game anymore. Not since the mid 2000s.

For the Crimson Harvest promotion, only the working boosters are listed on the market and the expired boosters available on contract are clearly labeled as "Expired Blood Raider Cerebral Accelerator" with the description:
"Earned from a Blood Raider Gauntlet site, this accelerator was once used to boost a pilots attributes across the board. Now however, its genetic make up has collapsed and dissolved, rendering its effects completely useless."
I have no doubt that the people listing these contract are hoping to scam someone who doesn't bother to read the contract. They are taking some risk since public contracts are subject to non-refundable brokerage fees. As for the victims - the sooner you learn to read contracts in Eve - especially those offered in Jita local, the better off you will be! |

OP is not talking about the last year's BR boosters but the now worthless Serpentis ones, which still sell surprisingly well on the market ...

I do have to say that a new player could probably be confused by the boosters expiration date. mainly due to the fact that it expires based on an EVE date, something I feel most new players cannot easily find. An easy fix for this would be to add the eve date below the server time in the UI. |

If you are looking for a game that holds your hand and protects you from the consequences of your own poor choices may I suggest pretty much every other MMO out there.
There is a reason that Eve has one of the most mature player bases in all of MMO gaming. I think that personal responsibility has something to do with it. In this game we look at, what other's would call mistakes, as learning opportunities. |

You think this went too far. ROFL. Mate, you've seen nothing yet. I see you've never heard of Erotica 1 and The Bonus Round. LOL Now that was an example of going too far.
This, this expired accelerator stuff, is less than trivial, and nothing compared to even "normal" scams of well known Hub scammers.

A content creation legend par excellence.
Anyone that gave Erotica any business was not cut out for EVE. But I guess the all knowing Riptard took care of that menace. Yellow journalism at it's finest.

The collectables market is a thing. Just because someone is charging far more than you feel you can afford doesn't make it a scam, although scamming is fine in Eve. Scaming is hardly the only reason to charge high prices. There are players out there that want to own one of every ship or one of every module, one of every blueprint, one of every ammo, etc, etc.
The precedent is Devs will generally leave everything in game, and not force things to work, move, or destroy them. That is why there are still the odd Capitals in HS, I have no clue how much the Veldnaught would sell for if it went up for sale, but It would be a LOT more than the ship's real value. Even though the new owner wouldn't be able to do anything with it but get blown up or watch it spin in station.
