Not sure how many of you may have encountered this one over the past several days but I did...
Scenario ::
Warp up to a gate; your ship stops; Autopilot says it is "Approaching Gate" but nothing happens other than your Autopilot repeats the phrase "Approaching Gate" not unlike a broken record but your ship doesn't move... Oh and you also can't see the Concord Billboard or gate turrets and you are in high sec space (0.0 gates don't got turrets, as far as I know).
What do you do ? Do you file a Petition and hope for some help ? Na, this would be a waste of time !
Do this instead ::
1). While you are still moving forward, jettison something into a can - use a bookmark in case you got nothing else you want to lose.
2). While you are still moving forward, right click on the newly jettison'd can and click orbit and choose the distance you are away from the gate you cannot use - say 20 km or whatever it takes to get your ship within 5k of the gate.
3). Your ship will move in the same direction you had been travelling which is hopefully towards the gate. In case your ship begins to "orbit" the can and doesn't move immediately towards the gate well don't panic cuz you ship will eventually move to within 5 km of the gate and then you will be able to use the gate.
Neat, huh ?
It only took me all day Sunday to figure this one out cuz I spent all day on Saturday fighting with this bug by trying to find a way around these errant gates and trying to get help from GM's via Petitions with NO responses.
The gates that had these problems are listed below ::
** Luminaire gate in Alentene
** Alentene gate in Luminaire
** Vaere gate in Aliene
** Alentene gate in Cistuvert
Perhaps others...

Or... with much fewer steps you can turn off the autopilot, then just fly up towards the gate until you are within 2.5 km and select Jump from the menue... on the other side turn the autopilot back on.... no prob

just double click in the gates direction, but not on the gate, then turn your autopilot back on after it turns itself off, you'll keep accelerating and when you get in range of the gate the autopilot will jump.

I too have run into these bugged gates, alot.
I just turn the AP off and jump to another point in the system, then jump back and manually approach the gate and jump.
Not really a major issue, but I do have a major issue:
Frequent random system freezes which I think are related to sound. This mostly happens while docked in a station. The client will freeze, cursor can't be moved and the background music begins stuttering. The CPU locks up requiring a warm boot to clear it, sometimes. Sometimes it requires a shut it down cold start which effectively corrupts the cache which has to then be deleted because you can't log in with a corrupted cache.
This bug is very annoying because all of the game preference settings have to be redone.
I am almost ready to give up on this game.
Anyone else have this problem?

or simpler, turn autopilot off, double-click near the gate, then turn auto-pilot on again.
Instand workaround :)
