In a topic about the recent module nerfs, I gave some examples of how expertly a certain Pirate corp manages a gate camp.
They are so good that it's nearly impossible to leave the gate once you've jumped through.
This what people don't believe:
1)I jump into a system (hard to believe?, no not yet)
2) Now I'm on the other side, still cloaked, and I see pirate ships all around me.
3) I'm in an inty, so I choose what looks like the safest path, initiate speed, and hit MWD.
4) The VERY instant I decloak, I'm locked and receiving 337 hp/sec damage. (This is what people dont believe. They say I'm making a joke, or that I have no credibility)
5) 2 seconds later, my PREnerf inty is accelerating past 8km/s and I'm just barely making it with 10% shields.
6) I survive. I escape intact, and warp away in my ship( Then the people start to discuss why I died. LOL. I don't know now, Im just exasperated at this point. )
Now I can see how clueless, naiEve, (sp intentional), and arrogant many old and new players are.
Alot of Pirates are so smart and tactically skilled that many people don't believe how good they are. This is one of the reasons that well organised, smart Pirates can make a good business from a constant supply of ignorant victims.
The fact that some Pirates are so good that it's beyond belief, is inspiring to me and I'm considering applying to join an organised Pirate corp.

Well Snowy also uses tactics like "8 faction smartbombs" - tiller
Don't even need to lock for that.
But let's say they are locking and attacking. This is how I would go about it, and Snowy please correct me if you're willing to share:
Set overview to hide friendlies, load a ship with sensor boosters and whatever guns, and a scram or two...
Activate all your offense modules and your sensor boosters (if they're the active kind)
Hold CTRL and keep clicking like a madman in the overview so that as soon as a ship appears you're locking it and dealing damage.
Only an i-stabbed inty could escape something like that, methinks. If even that.
Well, you guys didn't get my executioners either time I went through but maybe you weren't doing that at the time.

People don't think you know how to fly an interceptor because you let a Revelation start shooting you, and it wasn't even solo.

Sounds like their smartbombing tactic to me.
Still, a revelation had the time to target you which makes something very wrong.

a lot of players including pirates don't realise that to have a successful stationary gate camp (in low sec) you need specialised ships. Just like you nee bubbles in 0.0 you need ships with very fast locks in low sec while still tanking the sentries. The days of solo camping in a BS are more or less over.

He's referring to this thread.
Where in total one person said he did not believe him. Oh, the humanity! And even there it was only to Rateys comment of "instalock ships" where he is indeed wrong. The damage he recieved was from smartbombs, which do-not-require-a-lock. Which was also said in that very thread.
Sorry to say, the clueless person is the OP, not the rest.

the best low sec camps i have seen involve a carrier remote sensor boosting and shield boosting/amour transfering a huggin and lachesis which each have 2/3 sensor boosters. almost instant lock and u are going at pretty much no speed, and have multiple scrams on from range. then obviously damage dealers. disable any target in an instant. evil.

Um Ratey I just read some of your other thread.
Why, I wonder, do you try to MWD away from a gate to aviod the scramblers?
I have a malediction with 3 lowslots. I slap on 3 I-stabs (tech 1!) and I am literally warping before I decloak. You don't need speed mods, just agility, and you can get out of there easy.
I'm tempted to try with my Crusader which has 4 low slots (and IIRC it's more agile to begin with).

I think any pirate corp that fields capitals and uses one to remote tank a sensor boosted tackler will have the same success actually. But those with that kind of firepower (Est) seem to do other things (like go kill pvp alliances/corps). But to each their own.
Hawk with some SS sensor boosters gets what, 2200 or so scan res?

A Sensor boosted Hawk with a couple Remote Sensor boosters on it can hit 3000 scan res. However, its very difficult to keep it alive during a camp. One small mistake, a bit of lag or inattention on the part of the Pilot remote repping the Hawk, and the Hawk goes pop.
A Lachesis using dual Sensor Boosters with a couple Remote Sensor Boosters on it, with two Sensor Rigs fitted achieves 2000-2200 Scan res. Its easier to keep alive and has more Med slots than a Hawk (thus more Warp Disruptors to fit) and is the better choice.

its funny to see how all the "post revelations" posts about "piracy is dead because of warp to zero" have gone quiet and now we have whines about how difficult it is to escape outgoing gate camps. i guess thats the next nerf:)
but it is true, if the people camping gates are clever enough, and there is a lot of them, the only near sure way of traveling thru 0.0 is in an inty or a cov ops. but then again, kudos to those campers who do this

They didnt lock you.
Because they were using smartbombs, when they hit you, they recieved the square lock symbol around their icon. Hence it LOOKS like theyve locked you.
If they had locked you in that time, it would be some form of exploit, and even if they did, you would have been scrambled.

Depends on your point of view really. Piracy has been reduced to pretty much only gate camping. The days of belt piracy and ransoms has died a slow and painful death over time and this is what's left. While people still somtimes manage to get kills and ransoms in belts they've become the exception rather than the norm now.
All in all a fairly depressing situation tbh.
