Just tried running Eve on my laptop. Only 32 megs of video ram, and I've played with the settings to get 15-20 fps in space (good enough for the dinking around I want to do when I only have access to my laptop). Problem I'm getting is some weird graphics issue where text turns into barcode like lines randomly if I dock or undock or hit escape to bring up the options menu. Alt tabbing in and out sometimes changes it, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. Looked around and haven't seen anyone posting about it. Drivers are up to date, so wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Same here, I get those barcodes instead of text on my laptop...
Not all the text is bar coded though, probably 2/3 of it...

Still can't find a resolution to this problem. Would prefer to get help here, since I'm likely to be told to reinstall all drivers, reinstall windows, then buy a new pc, if I tech support it. Already reinstalled the drivers and have the latest drivers. Someone here has had to have run into this before.

Edited by: Johnathon Desoto on 03/04/2007 16:49:15 friend of mine had this issue on his laptop, and gave it to me to fix. I set the resolution on windows to 1024x768, and lowered ALL the graphics settings on EVE to bare mininum. He was having barcode lines AND a flickering mouse cursor, both fixed when i'd done it.
EDIT: And it might be worth flicking up the window transparency settings as well. EVE can do some really wierd things to itself

Tried those things, Jon, before I posted. Doesn't make any difference.

Your laptop's video chipset is most likely not up to the task of rendering EVE properly. --- Cache Clearer |

The broken text thing is happening because your graphics chip is too old/underpowered to run Eve correctly. It's a common and well known problem.
There's apparently a specific driver that fixes this for SiS integrated graphics systems, but I don't know of a solution for any other graphics chips. |

Looked around a bit more and can't find anything about a driver that addressed this for SiS chipsets (which is what my laptop runs). Anyone know where to find this driver/fix?

Still can't find anything about a patch for SiS cards that will fix this problem. Anyone?

Have same problem with Trident Blade3D integrated video. All textures totally broken in EVE. Was tried to update all drivers (chipset, video, Dx) but nothing helps at all. -- . |

I would kinda agree with this statement especially on a laptop. If you want so more info on the minimum spec check this link.
Bear in mind, it is not the fact that you have 32 mb of video ram that make the gfx card rune the game there is alos the gfx chipset and capability.
