If i move to another research agent will i lose my points that i have attained with my current agent? Are there any penaltys at all for doing this?
Thanks in anticipation :)

How about getting a decent agent before you start the project? |

A corpmate of mine changed the agent, cause the lvl 3 agent gives him easily twice the amount of RP. Do it asap though.

Then what's the point of having lower level Research agents at all?
This is silly. You should be able to transfer a Research project to another Agent. After all, it's not the Agent whose doing the research, he just heads the team. You should be able to transfer some percentage (70-90%) to a new agent if it's in the same "field."

It was intended that way, but was cut to help freelancers.
The plan was to allow you to get Research Papers from your agent when you change the agent. But imagine a player corp, collecting the research papers from all their members and concentrating it in one hand. This would definitely improve their chances to get special blueprints.

Umm, so don't make them transferrable items? Just add a new dialogue option to Research Agents:
"I am currently conducting research in High Energy Physics with Agent Smith, but would like you to take over directing the team. Interested?"

I am not much for agent missions, but I want to at least get a few points so that it looks like I'm making somewhat of an effort to get a tech 2 blueprint. So I'll probably just stop a level 2 research agent or whichever one I get first and then I'll at least have a shot at getting said blueprints... not that much of a chance but you got to be in it to win it

Keep in mind, though, that while the corp would drastically improve it's chances of getting prints, when it accepts a print, all those points are spent... even if the corp could have done the same with just a fraction of them.

True but in a large enough corp, they could still have a dozen people contributing points to each of the new science skills.

You numbty, i already had a good lvl3 research agent with roden, the best i could get at the time, as i am also doing missions for roden my standing has increased and allowed the use of rodens top lvl3, which i hoped i could switch to.
Thank you to the rest of you for your sensible answers and (Amin)linkage's, the games not completely pedantic yet it seems :)

Found myself in the same situation and decided to stick with the lower agent while waiting for Research Project Management. Why?
To my knowledge an Agent will only be able to do 1 Research project at a time as the skill only allows the use of multiple research agents.
The agent I'm using has: Nanite Engineering level 1, Electronic Engineering level 1, Molecular Engineering level 1
Effective Quality of 26
The agent I want to use has: Plasma Physics level 2, Hydromagnetic Physics level 2, Minmatar Starship Engineering level 3, Electromagnetic Physics level 3, Nuclear Physics level 3, Electronic Engineering level 3, Molecular Engineering level 2
Effective Quality of -1
For the field I'm researching and the points accumulated, it's not worth changing over. Nor is it worth losing that agent's versatility except for more important research.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

Um, for a given fixed X, and a given total of RP in the field Y: X/Y + X/Y + X/Y = 3X/Y. i.e. pooling the points gives NO MORE probability of getting the print. The exception is if there is more than one print in a lottery then in fact SPREADING the points is the better thing to do (as you could win on one X/Y, and then STILL have 2X/(Y-X) chance on the NEXT print, rather than the same 3X/Y on the first and 0/(Y-3X) on the next).
In short, I don't see how taking this feature out helps freelancers at all. The only way that would be true is if the number of RP you already had increased the RATE at which you got RP.

I'm in the same boat. As soon as I got my skill I blasted to the best agent I had and started up the project. Now of course I can get any agent I want but I've already got a couple of days research done. So I'm sticking with my Lv2 instead of moving it to a Lv3.
The Lv2 I'm with has a skill of 3 anyways and a very high quality level so in fact yields more RP than the Lv3s in the corp...the only question is what is the impact of Lv2 vs Lv3 on the missions.
Does a Lv3 give more mission? Do the missions of a Lv3 yield more of a bonus? is a Lv3 less likely to get a Stop mission? Do Lv2s access different Lottos that Lv3s?
These are the questions I'd like to see answered
