I see people sometimes sell Researched Cruiser...etc BPOs on the sell forum. Is it worth the time/isk so it there just no point

They quite often sell below NPC (market) price, so buying/researching/selling is usually not a good idea. The ability to sell them is of course good when going out of production on an item. If you buy a battleship blueprint for say 950M, and sell it for 900M when you're done producing, you basically "rented" the blueprint for 50 million, instead of paying the full 950.

I've been on both ends of the market. For awhile I was buying cruiser BPO, researching in low-sec or my corp's POS lab and then re-selling. For awhile this was quite profitable being able to double invested isk in about a month. But of course a lot of people noticed this, a lot of empire POS were setup and there was a lot of competition. Now I think there are much more of some reserached BPO than there is production demand, this is especially prevalent with the Tier 2 BC.
So now that the market is oversupplied when I started to do a little production recently I didn't even seriously consider buying and researching a print for a month I just bought one from auction for a little over NPC price. Considering I will earn the difference in less than a week I'd lose quite a bit by leaving all that isk tied up in research.

In short, it can be... but unless you know what you're doing and know your specific market then no. There are too many people doing it these days, at least for the high profit markets... you could prob do low end items and make a few million/day... but it's a lot of work for very little reward imo.

The long and short answer is yes, it is very profitable. I started out researching high-demand cruiser BPOs (thorax, caracal, rupture, maller), which netted me anywhere between 30% and 100% return per BPO, and then I moved into other, more lucrative researching, such as mineral compression BPOs, ammo BPOs, drone BPOs, etc.
The smaller you get, the more you can over-charge for them, making 500-600% per month per BPO, but the more work that you have to put into it. I would stay that it continues to remain well worth the investment. As much as you may love me, your signature must pertain to your in-game persona, and thus I must remove it. -Conuion Meow |
