ok, sniping was too powerful, i see the point of nerfing t2 ammo. however, who the freck would want to use Quake ammo for example. let's look at Quake L:
-10% speed penalty -12% cap regen penalty 0.75% tracking penalty
^^ these penalties times 6 or 8 for a tempest or maelstrom means it's utterly useless. at least apply the penalty just once and not for every gun. 12% less cap regen is bad enough, but for every gun? with Quake S it's even worse.
and why does Javelin L not have the cap regen penalty too? gallente conspiracy :p. no really, does anyone use quake ammo nowadays except maybe for a suicide thrasher? --

Edited by: Venkhar Krard on 25/03/2007 13:02:30 Quake is used on most medium range gang setups.
The cap penalty isnt that bad if you dont need to tank, and the tracking isnt a problem with tracking comps and m8s that hold the target for you.
It isnt designed for solo-pvp.

I don't use arties these days, not enough bang for me and too expensive.
Quake is nice ammo providing somebody is holding whatever you're shooting at still, target painting it, and you're in a large gang so nobody is shooting you yet.
Thank god they denerfed hail is all I can say, although the dps drop it took at the same time was annoying.

I only use Quake in gangs, or if something really needs to DIE.

Originally by: Nymos these penalties times 6 or 8 for a tempest or maelstrom
This has been brought up a lot in the past, so I wanted to make things a little clearer. With my skills:
Heavy Pulse II + MF: 0.078 rad/sec Heavy Pulse II + 1 Conflag: 0.039 rad/sec Heavy Pulse II + 2 Conflag: 0.039 rad/sec
Now perhaps cross-gun penalty stacking occurs for other attributes but it certainly doesn't affect tracking. Is this just a rumour that started a long time ago?

The tracking penalties apply to the gun. Therefore each gun has its tracking reduced. Try fitting one with Conflag and one with MF and you'll see the MF one has better tracking.
Bonuses and penalties modifying the weapon do just that - modify that weapon. They're applied one time for every gun loaded with that ammo.
Penalties that affect something else than the gun (such as, say, speed, shields, cap etc) are applied one time for every gun loaded with that ammo. Unfortunately they happen to affect the same stat over and over again and are not stacking penalized (which is a tad bit odd btw since most other negative modifiers ARE stacking penalized).
This is intended behaviour according to Tuxford in a thread I cba to dig up.
Therefore it is also intended t2 ammo is mostly completely useless.
