Edited by: Lucretia Eldritch on 27/03/2007 20:30:32 I have the nVidia drivers installed that came with my XFX AGP card (please don't suggest reinstalling drivers, I've done that half a dozen times!). I would like to know what settings to use in EVE to get this to work reliably, for example colour depth, z buffers etc. I'm having to run it with -use11 tagged onto the exe otherwise it blanks my screen and the monitor gives an out of range message. I used to run fine in Window mode on my GeForce 5500 in 1024x768, 24 bit colour with 8-bit z, everything was lovely. Now, I get horrid artifacts on engine flame, character images, planets, etc and odd colours on the general gaming window. Any clues how I can sort this out? Without the -use11 switch, EVE borks out and I get a BSOD with n4_disp has gone into an infinite loop. Only EVE does this, no other apps are affected.

Download and install the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com as the ones you are using now are better fit for a computer museum.
Let us know if you still have issues after that (not likely).
Before you install the new drivers, make sure you uninstall the old ones first.
We're sorry, something happened.

I have a 6600gt that I play eve with under Linux and I swear there is some issue with it. Under Windows my FPS rate is less than impressive and under Linux it is out right not what it should be. I also get artifacts all around the place plus issues that just don't exist on other pc's I've played on. I have the latest drivers under Windows and Linux and I've made sure it is getting enough power and airflow.
Was this just a dodgy piece of hardware by usual nVidia standards or what? |

Make sure you activate the AGP option in your bios.
Then use this to delete all the left over driver files from your previous "dozen" driver installs, they might be screwing up your system. After that, go visit the www.Nvidia.com site and reinstall the driver again. _______________

Corrupted display
I tried the latest drivers from nVidia (93.71). Same result. I cleaned up with NFR and Driver Cleaner Pro between each reinstall of different drivers. Same result. The fault seems to be DirectX 9; when I turn off Direct Draw the graphics behaves perfectly but obviously EVE won't run. I have reinstalled DirectX 9 twice, after each update of drivers. I have updated the motherboard drivers, too. Still the same.
Time to bin it and get a newer system. Which sucks.
