Hi, I'm a fairly new character, but I've become very interested in trade and investing (as it's my major ) in EVE. I was wondering though... I've pretty well figured out how commodities trade works in game with market buying and selling, but how do you buy and sell stock in the game?
It seemed to me to be easiest to have it as a section in the market, but I couldn't find anything. (Though it's possible I glanced over it...) Is all the stock exchange done through announcements on the forums? It seems like that would be a hard way to get, say, 15,000 shares sold. Thanks!

CCP has neglected this aspect of the game. Join channel EGSEx in game, its the official channel of EGSE, a player run stock exchange, youll see the link to the site and have any of your questions answered there.

As a tip...
The NPC market (trade goods and such) is alright for starting off, but you should aim for the player market as soon as you've the nerves of steel required. =)
Most of the money being tossed around is on the player market.

That seems fairly annoying to businesses trying to sell their stock. It would seem you would have to be one of the biggest corporations around to actually get it sold! The Market window would be so easy to use in buying/selling and could even create a more realistic version of the market with more shares being bought and sold among people rather than just from the corp to the person.
I suppose I'm not the only person to have thought this way, but has something like this been petitioned? And what kind of odds are there that it would be implemented? Or has the system the players, themselves, have developed worked well enough to not warrent it?

I agree.
This is actually the basic principle behind RESX: to be able to buy and sell shares, as close as possible to buying and selling goods on the market.
Personally, I'd like nothing more than a good in-game stock market. But as there is none, at least not right now, I believe RESX is about as close as you can get. ______________________________ Real-time EVE Stock Exchange, Blog |
