Hi, my names Syphurous, and I've been a ship spinner for just over 6 months now. I first started with the simple act or turning my ship 180 to have a look at the back, and seeing as I was Gallante my Rookie ship was Asymetrical & I had to complete with another 180. From there, I think the problem has escalated. I find myself spinning my ship when I'm waiting on something load or a sell / buy order to fill.
I hope by admitting to my problem I'll be able to work through it and get a control over my habit.
....... I prefer the ships's doing 180's & 360's mid warp, or warping sideways like they're doing a burnout especially as the music strums up.

I do it constantly :P
Scream the mouse over as fast as possible and see how many times the ship will go round.

Hi, My name is kodiak and I'm a ship spinner.
My favorite trick is turning on the auto spin feature and trying to maintin constant camera position without lifting my mouse.
Some ships also bob up and down (raven) and some tilt side to side (tempest) when in the dock. This confuses me but is interesting to watch.
Also, my raven is a spinner, about 5% of the time it enters warp it does a 360 degree turn for no reason in paticular. Fun to watch it spin around while it warp. _______________________________ Idea stolen from DS:

Originally by: Mashie Saldana I have my ship on auto rotate but sometimes I give the camera a helping hand.
Once, when I was even noobier than I am now, I managed to turn on the "Orbit Station" thing whilst futzing around with settings, thinking that it would make me automatically orbit the station after I undocked (still think it's an absurdly named option and that the auto-orbit thing would be a big help in congested stations...).
By the time I figured out how to stop it I was feeling decidely ill. Trying to read text with stuff moving behind it is bad, okay? So no, I don't indulge in a huge amount of ship spinning unless I'm checking out a cool new purchase.

*all together* We love you, syphurous!
And I agree about the "orbit station" thing being confusing. I originally checked it just to see what it was. When I found out, I decided not to stop.
Not to get into subconscious psychology or anything but it's interesting to see that some of us prefer to have the camera rotating and others to have it stand still...I wonder what kind of mental processes are involved there. ----- :::Need to be cleaned:::

I'm an avid ship spinner as well. I'm annoyed that it's not possible to move the camera below the ship , though. I like looking around station interior with right click pan , lots of interesting details especially in gallente station (subliminal messages anyone ?)

Glad to hear there are fellow sufferers :), I don't spin my ship round for good luck or anything but when I'm waiting for something I'll quite often absently mindedly just sit there spinning my ship around.
Chatting with a friend last night:
[ 2007.03.27 21:04:29 ] Lanielle > any idea what you're doing with <sekrit stuff> yet jab? [ 2007.03.27 21:05:48 ] JabJabVVV > I'm spinning my POV around it <sekrit stuff>, other than that - no
I also have an embarrassingly large amount of footage where I've forgotten to turn fraps off and docked after a fight with me just idly spinning my ship around :P ----------- When I was a n00b, I spake as a n00b, I understood as a n00b, I thought as a n00b: but when I became pr0, I put away n00bish things. |

Tried that, went nuts being unable to spin after 5 seconds.
Didn't realise how much of a problem I had ;)
