hi i am one of the few who will combat fit my orcas for providing active boosts and combat suport to a mining fleet.
however i am at a loss as to how to fit it properly.
so i turn to you for advice and divergent thinking.

You can play with fits on the test server. Even better, you can buy an Orca for 100 isk and try it out! This is what I came up with while answering the door for trick or treat:
[Orca, Orca] Drone Damage Amplifier II Damage Control II
10MN Afterburner II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Survey Scanner II Large Shield Extender II
Mining Foreman Burst II Mining Foreman Burst II Shield Command Burst II Small Tractor Beam II Salvager I
Large Core Defense Field Extender II Large Drone Mining Augmentor II Large Drone Mining Augmentor II
Hammerhead II x5 Mining Drone II x5
Shield Extension Charge x496 Mining Laser Field Enhancement Charge x500 Mining Laser Optimization Charge x500 Shield Harmonizing Charge x499
Tank is 308,000 ehp - 331,500ehp with the extension burst, 322,800 ehp with the harmonizing burst - cycle plus reload is longer than burst duration with my skills so I couldn't try both. That's quite a bit less than my old bulkhead fit Orca but this one compensates with 515 dps offense with Hammerhead II or 1144.5M3/minute (+ travel time) harvest with mining drones!
This is a balanced fit with resources fairly evenly split between gank, tank and mining yield. It will be fun to see what others come up with. |

hmm a more combat oriented version could swap the survey scanner for a Drone Navigation Computer II or Omnidirectional Tracking Link II
swap the highs to give room for more shield transfers and swap rigs for more tank and or drone dps

My character on Singularity only has Drone rigging level 1 so CPU is a bit tight. You might be able to fit a second remote booster if trained to level 4 but not enough CPU with my current skills and 2 drone rigs. You are only allowed to fit 1 ancillary booster. As soon as you install a regular T2 booster, your capacitor disappears. You'll need modules or rigs to replenish it. - not sure that's practical.
If you don't intend to mine with the Orca, you can use the rig and mid slots for additional tank and replace the DCU witn a second DDA.
It depends where you're mining. In highsec where Concord is never more than 20 seconds away, I'll likely fit 3 Drone mining augmenter rigs for maximum yield. In lower security space, a battle Orca supporting Skiffs should be able to put up a good fight but, anyone who drops in on you should have scanned your fleet and know what they're getting into! |

very true i live in wh so the risk of BIG ships is limited if you catch a bad brace and 10-20 t3 with hics and logi roll into you your dead anyway so..

If you think that you can mine in an orca , fugget about it. There's only enough bandwidth for 1 ice harvesting drone. From the spec sheets drone will get one unit of ice on a 350 ( t1 ) or 300 (t2 ) second cycle. So, even if you can have an ice drone out , it leaves you without fight drones ( warrior etc ) cause there's no bandwidth for it. That makes the whole concept of mining with the orca a complete washout.
