Our footballers get to much money, there heads are so bloated its seem that they only really care about there club footy tbh(Thats where they make the cash).
Going to a football match used to be a working mans pastime but now the working man gets priced out of the stands so the middle class can sit down and enjoy a sandwhich while they 'support' the football team.
There has been times I have at Manchetser United ground with a crowd of 60k+ and you can almost here a pin drop
Our english players only seem to look good at club level, maybe thats because there surrounded by copious amounts of tallented foreign players.
aaagghh didn't mean to rant, im just disappointed in English football team ...again.

A lot is being, and has been, said about the ammount foreign players but the clubs always go back to the excuse of prices for good english talent they go after in the lower leagues, but all your points are valid, tbh i'd like to see players get nothing for playing for england, pulling on the shirt should be payment enough and nothing else.
The end result is they get paid an obscene ammount of cash as it is, my brother went to spain for the game last night and hes making approx 20k a year so its a lot of money for him to travel to an away international to watch the crap that was served up last night, if he wants to boo them hes more than entitled to afaic.

when did they introduce player's getting paid for caps anyway? It's disgusting, if anyone should get paid at all (not that anyone should) is the clubs for releasing the players.
And tbfh, tickets to watch that crap should be free and allocated on a first come first served basis, england supporters club members, number of ticket stubs or something, as i don't have a clue where the revenue goes for an england match.

You and everyone else, iirc it was don revie who got them paid for wins etc, and also iirc alan ball stood up and said he didnt want to be paid for playing for england, good for him tbh, how times change.

Looking from an economical point of view, wages will keep rising. When people like ballack are on 130k a week, the likes of Lampard, etc are going to want that.
Eventually the outgoings for clubs will get so high, only a handful of clubs will be able to keep up with it. The result will be a Chelsea syndrome in every league, whilst other clubs suffer bankruptcy. As can be seen with Man utd, they are relying on shirt sales and merchandising, becoming a marketable product rather than a football team.
Like someone said, it's not longer a working man's sport that he can watch on a day off with his pals before a few pints up the local pub. When season tickets up Chelsea are over a grand...
Just look around Old trafford at a match, bar their main fans stand (forget the name, basically like the Kop), alot of them are company clients and businessmen.

Edited by: Dray on 29/03/2007 14:56:11 Its the stretford end, tho i dont know how vocal they are these days, traveling supporters are by default normally your best, im a newcastle united fan (for my sins) and some days its the same at st james park, just the way the game has gone i suppose sad but inevitable.
As for pricing of season tickets, i gave mine up 2 seasons ago after 29 years, yes 29 years, and i paid ú421 for my seat that was behind the goal in the gallowgate end, i fancied moving to the milburn stand which is where the best seats are and i was looking at ú800+ depending on how close to the halfway line you would get, were not as pricey as chelsea but believe me these days watching newcastle is like watching england.
