I am wondering how you cancel eve voice. I did read thru all the helps docs about this product. Went thru the FAQÆs and in game used the help channels but all attempts were a no go. There was info on how to disable the client in the game but that will not stop the billing. I tried eve voice and I want to cancel inside my 30 days so CCP does not charge me. Do any of you fine EVE players have any info on how to cancel eve voice? "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Interesting question.
Just for laughs, I checked the "My Account" link on the left hand column of the EVE site, and logged into the account manager. There is an "Activate EVE Voice" link, but that ONLY allows you to activate it, not to de-activate it. I hunted through EVERY option on that page, and could not find ANY way to remove EVE Voice from your account.
Umm... CCP? We've got a problem...

Considering you pay only once a year ($9.99) then maybe you pay once and it doesn't reoccur, it would make sense not to as players on average quit way before a year :)

??
How would not having the option to turn it off BEFORE you start getting charged make sense? I'm not trying to flame you or anything, I just don't understand where you are coming from. Can you clarify for me?

Edited by: Spartus Raile on 29/03/2007 19:20:37 Ah sorry, I am guilty of not reading the whole post properly, I presumed you had already payed for the year ($9.99). Perhaps it simply ends after the month is up (if you are still using the free trial :P)

Hi,
If you are experiencing problems in relations to the new EVE Voice feature introduced with the Revelations 1.4 patch, please make sure to first read our EVE Voice FAQ article from our Knowledgebase:

Furthermore, if you encounter a specific EVE Voice error messages, refer to the Knowledegbase for what the message means in detail and what you can do to resolve the matter.
EVE Voice Error Codes
The introduction of EVE Voice may in some cases result client instability and/or crashes. If you experience this, please file a detailed bug report, marked as "EVE Voice - Your Issue" and include the following attachments: Vivox diag report Dxdiag report Eve logfile
For further information on how to retrieve and attach these files, please click the links below:
How to retrieve the diagnostic reports How to file bug reports
Filing a bug report in this way will help us spot and deal with any big issues swiftly and is highly appreciated.
When you have filed the bug report, and the issue is affecting your gameplay in a negative way, you can always temporarily disable EVE Voice altogether on the client side until the problem gets resolved. To do this, you need add the line below to the bottom of the prefs.ini file (usual path: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache) and then save the change.
voiceenabled=0
EVE Voice Trials will end 30 days after it has started. Players will need to enter their billing information to subscribe to EVE Voice. Players will not be automatically charged.

Well Nyabinghi of Khumatari Holdings. If I did that. Eve would have won and I would be just another sub #. I canÆt do that since in time I will be the one to beat EVE!! Thank you for the response on canceling. As a NON XP/win2k user, I was wondering about that, as I selected yes to the trial only to find out that it won't work under ubuntu via wine or cedega.

HEHE... I knew this would happen....
I have no use for EVE VOICE. Why?
1) It is a duplication of other software that is available FOR FREE. I don't waste money.
2) It is a security risk since it is potentially monitorable by CCP personnel.
3) It is a waste of precious EVE hardware time. Eve has few enough CPU cycles to process what is essential to the game without wasting it on unnecessary frills that can be performed by other methods that don't use CCP cpu time.

I would like to add.
4) You have no means of communicating with your buddies and gathering information when the client crashes.

Wow, rarely have I seen such a complete lack of correct information contained in one post. Well done.
1: Other VOIP apps are not free, someone is paying for the bandwidth, server, service, etc. The free trial has been extended so that they can institute a similar arrangement for Eve Voice, so that one person can pay for their corp to have "free" access to it.
2: CCP can monitor everything you do in game is they so desire as it stands now. I have a tin foil hat in your size around here somewhere I think. I out grew it.
3: Eve Voice has nothing to do with EVES server hardware, it is hosted as a separate service by an independent company. CCPs CPU time will be safely separate, so you can rest easy.
4: For a later post, the first thing on the slate to be developed for EVE VOICE is the ability to run a mini-client independent from EVE, so you will be able to use it out of game as well. I see no reason to doubt CCP on this point.
5: It often helps to have some small understanding of the topic you intend to post about.

************************ Never have I seen more ignorant responses.....
1) To the user of most Team Speak Servers IT IS FREE. 2) T20 AND OTHERS... NUF SAID 3) Eve voice is PART of the client and affects it's efficiency. 4) Promises, promises.. 5) I agree... now go back to school.

You can't cancel EVE Voice because it's free Yes, that 30-day trial is an unlimited days trial, until they decide to start charging money for it. They will automatically cancel it for you when it WON'T be free anymore, and you'll have to subscribe. _
