Posted - 2007.03.29 22:41:00 - [1] [Other thread got locked because i posted with the wrong character so i'll repost it here since i thought it was an interesting topic.] Did anyone ever ask himself what will happen after this war ? When BoB would get conquered ? Or if the north-coalition will loose the next months ? I think this war is going to change EVE. Since i'm playing this game all the alliances became bigger and bigger, smaller ones vanished. ASCN was the 1st huge alliance, then there was BoB. I remember people laughing about Goons. Now there is a huge Goons/RA Alliance, in the north you can see big alliances like D2. You get the picture. Does anyone else think within a year or two there will be just 3-4 big alliances left ? Are you prepared for a galaxy which is owned by RAGoon or BoB ? I personally tend to like a BoB-galaxy more than a RAGoon-Galaxy... Good fighting everyone - and dont forget how you are forming this galaxy.

There are enough powers in enough places to break up any major empires after BoB is gone. Should Band of Brothers conquer the entire galaxy and stand unopposed, how long do you really think it would be before they split into separate alliances and turned on each other? That very ideal is what holds the alliance together. The Coalition will never own the galaxy because it's a mass of alliances only loosely held together but a mutual enemy. In general, whenever any political entity gains enough power and control of affairs to be able to say with any degree of honesty that they "dominate" the galaxy, it collapses in on itself as its members scramble to gain power over one another. Eve is in a constant state of glorious, glorious chaos, and that will never change, no matter what side wins this conflict, or any other.

After this war we will surely have some form of order ;) If BoB will win and eventually conquer most of New Eden it will loose this control after some time. If not due to infighting then (which is more probable in my eyes) due to aggression of prevouisly defeated entities together with some new ones. It is easy to conquer terrain, holding it is far harder. History gives tons of exemples. BOB also has the best allies and takes the cream of those allies into it's fold to nurture and turn them into the best players they can be. It's every allies members dream to one day be invited to join BOB, so recent gratz to beigehornet, who I believe recently joined the great DICE corp.

There is no such thing as a RAgoon galaxy, once this war is over, alliances are going to go back to being at each others throats, there will be chaos and it will be glorious. When that time comes you will see a lot of alliances collapse, and new ones form. If anything, I would say that there is a more broad dispersion of power now than there ever has been, and I think that will only continue.

Some of the south is also controlled by several small alliances. That is how I believe 0.0 should be. I think there should be a limit on the size of an alliance. The huge battles wage because both sides are capable of presenting that number of pilots. Lagfests happen and nodes crash because size has become a problem. Those things don't happen in the drone regions simply because those small alliances can't contribute 300 pilots each to a battle. If BoB wins the war and "conquers the galaxy" then all of 0.0 would briefly turn into the NAP-land that the north has been. Then everything will up-end itself and things will get destroyed.If the coalition wins then the alliances go back to fighting each other and things will get destroyed. It is necessary for fighting to occur in EvE to prevent the economy from collapsing. The EvE economy functions because stuff gets permanently destroyed. The macrominers in empire generate the minerals which industrial corps buy to make stuff that PvPers buy that they use to kill each other with. Chaos is good. Chaos is your friend. Where's the fun if all you see are blues?

Taurequis Waylander 01	Posted - 2007.03.30 16:54:00 - [29] Hi, If you cast your mind back more then the last year you can see that in actual fact alliances have gotten more numerous which the largest never really got past a certain point. SE at it's peak was 4k people, CA was about 3k, FA 2.5K etc etc. Thats 2-3 years ago. Even the space they "claim" or "control" isnt much larger then any of the historic entities. From my personal experience EVE isnt a game anymore when you are trying to manage an alliance of 4k people. Its like trying to run a multinational corperation with offices in 40 countries, speaking different languages, with ceo's with thier own agendas, in your spare time. Its fun for a few months, but after a while its just an unpaid job. That reason alone is the reason I think no alliance will ever dominate all of 0.0 alone. Its just not worth the effort, or your life, kids, wife, job, family, sanity. For one, many people are simply siding with their friends, or as it seems more likely, against people they hate more. For example, LV and BoB have no love for each other, but the fact is that they don't like their opponents far more than each other. The entire coalition is built that way too, else why would D2 ally with Red? My view is if Red/Goon are the winning side, we're going to be plunged into even more metagaming crap than even before. The use of logging as combat tactics, 23/7 complex farming across the game with alt corps, lag generation strategies and so on. It's sickening. BoB aren't angels when it comes to some things (spies), but they still are still largely more 'straight' than some members of the Coalition. I couldn't really comment on D2 or IAC. In any case, I'd much rather be steamrolled by superior combatants in a standup fight than destroyed by who-can-meta-most. ~~~ Action! Suspense! Jita! Eve Tribune
Ethan Tomlinson The Collective	Posted - 2007.03.31 04:06:00 - [35] It has been said time and time again that bob are the best... this is simply not true they are very very good pilots with a lot of skillpoints but to be honest they just have this huge economic backing from tech 2 blue prints and complexes within their space. this is not to mention the multitude of people they have conquered and taken lordship over. Also consider the isk value of all the loot their enemies have dropped over the years. Not to say everyone is rich in their alliance but in general it is a very structured cult up players with multiple high sp characters and billions of isk to spend on combat. they didn't start out this way but eventually they snowballed into the mammoth they are today. the way people idolize band of brothers players as god like individuals who posess better than average reflexes on the battlefield is highly unfounded. their leaders are damn good one who has structured each and every players routine to being the most efficient soldiers in each and every fight. everyone in eve can play like a BOB member. The deciding factor, in most of the wars against em(not all... ascn), was the motivation to log on, form up, and fight in a highly structured fashion. BOB had this motivation as well as a lot of economic backing and the self confidence that a lot of isk gave them. Where as in the case of most of their enemies they were thinking "what if i lose this ship? I only have one or two more till i have to make isk again." the thing is people, you can go ahead and think of BoB players as godlike PVPers but they are not. You are jut as capable.
