hey,this is a follow-up to my earlier thread
ive narrowed it down to 7600GT or 7800GT
-must run even 50fps+
-must not make noise
...passive cooling quieter/better than regular for those cards? in terms of noise and durability.

I just ordered the Gigabyte 256MB 7600GT a few hours ago.
The 7800 is nice, but having something that'll hit 100 degrees Celsius inside your computer is a bit scary.
A passive card will still need airflow within your case, and is pointless if you have other noise-making components. So you're also going to need a quiet PSU and a quiet hestsink.

i see.. so.. i need some sort of dedicated cooling system to run a passively cooled card? i have a fan for the power supply.. but thats about it i think. i really dont want to install anythign extra..
so no additional cooling --> no passively cooled card?
sry, i didnt understand from the post: the 7800gt produces more heat than the 7600? is yours regular or passive cooling? if regular, how does it do in terms of noise?
the reason im being picky is because my 9200 radeon sounds like a freaking turbine and is hurting my ears whenever i watch a video even.
p.s. im in canada, so where would I order the 7600gt.. if i decide to get it myself?

Kinda. Most computer cases have a natural convection of heat through them. Air enters through the bottom of the case, convects past your graphics card and processor, and finally out through the PSU. By which point it's fairly hot.
Chances are, your computer has a natural convection that is good enough to move air through it. \if not, then one or two fairly cheap fans will help the airflow; and will be quieter than a fan on a graphics card.
The 7800 will chuck out more heat than the 7600. I am going for a passively cooled 7600GT; no fans, nothing. I'm also going to attempt to passively cool the processor too. Fingers crossed there is enough airflow.

edit: i used to use an overclocked pentium 4 to heat my room.
