I just installed Eve a while ago and am now trying to uninstall it.
I have gone to the control panel and the only thing listed in the Windows Control Panel is the Eve launcher which, when I click uninstall, errors out saying that it has apparently already been uninstalled when I just installed everything so it can't be already uninstalled.
There don't seem to be any other program groups related to Eve other than the launcher so I am unable to locate an UnInstaller.
How do I uninstall this? |

Pretty sure Shift-Deleting your EVE folder on the C: Drive will do the trick.

Deleting folders and files has not been the proper way to uninstall an application since the Windows 3.1 days. All modern applications are supposed to have an uninstall mechanism. Is Eve different? |

The eve online folder has uninstall.exe. It should be one level up from the Launcher folder. So right click on your launcher, click properties, then open source folder, then click one folder down.

Mine doesn't.
I just tried installing Eve again right over the top of the first installation. Still no uninstall executables in any of the EVE folders. And now I have two "Eve Online" entries in my control panel programs and features window and neither one of them will uninstall when you click the Uninstall button. They both error out claiming that there is a problem with them and may have already been uninstalled. |

Windows screws up uninstalls all the time, that is why uninstaller programs are popular. Generally, if you ever have a problem with an uninstall again, and decide to reinstall to uninstall, go to safe mode before uninstalling the second time. Windows has a tool somewhere to remove broken entries in the programs folder, but you'll have to google it.
In windows 10, you can also try uninstalling from the start menu / all programs and right click on eve online.

I'm using Windows 7 64. It isn't being given the opportunity to screw up the uninstall because I can't even get to the point of initiating one. |

Oddly enough I couldn't locate an uninstall.exe file for Eve either, I do have an entry for Eve in the programs and features control panel though. Anyway, since by now it's safe to say that your installation is messed up, I'd recommend ccleaner. |

I had issues launching the game from the folder the first time because I don't like shortcut clutter on my desktop.
Wouldn't launch until I ran the launcher as an adminstrator so if there ends up being an uninstall option maybe that'll give it the extra nudge to uninstall properly. |

Download CCleaner.
In addition to being VASTLY better at wiping out your browser history and cache for uh... reasons... it also has an uninstall section that will literally rip any program you want.
There is even an option in there that hunts down and deletes bad/broken registry files.
How did you Veterans start?

On top of CCleaner theres Revo Uninstaller that even removes stuff from the registry. |

I no longer use Windows (I'm running Windows 7 64) to uninstall programs. I found this great standalone program that uninstalls and cleans up any files or folders that are left behind. I use the "free" version. It can be found here.... Like I said it's standalone so no install required.

This is not GD. Don't tell players to biomass. Many people eventually come back. When they do, it is better to come back to a character with a few skill points already trained.

These cleaners are great, however, it is my understanding that they need to be installed and active BEFORE you install the offending application. Is that not correct?
What's really interesting is that CCP has not responded to my trouble ticket on this issue in the last 48 hours either. One of my goals when starting to play this game was to test how good the tech support wasGǪ |

No, they don't have to be installed previously. They simply correlate file locations and associations with registry entries and remove everything. The Windows registry is big and can get full of crap, but it's not organized randomly.
As far as CCP support tickets, average waiting time is 1-2 weeks. They've only done 2 days for critical stuff like harassment reports or payment issues. |

Just stopped by real quick on my way out the Eve online door to say a big Thank You to everyone who helped a newbie like me with this issue!
I downloaded and tried the free version of the Geek uninstaller and have to give it two thumbs up because it did work perfectly at removing my erstwhile Eve installation. So a special thanks to Lacrous for that.
It turned out that Eve wasn't for me, but certainly not because of the helpful community that exists around this game.
