CCP, in conjunction with Transgaming, will be releasing a special "Cider enhanced" version of EVE for MAC. It's a ways down the road though, but it is coming. Check the technical forums for more info. This Space Reserved until my sexy new sig is completed. :) |

If its an Intel Mac OSX, Wine should do the trick for you. Never tried it on a Mac before, but apparently it works well enough. --------

Those of us that have been running Linux for a while have a gathered a lot of disdain for TransGaming and their blantant profiteering off the WINE project. Also, I would HIGHLY doubt that they will be able to deliver a real product. Anyone that has tried Cedega can tell you that TransGaming can make things run, but commonly at the expense of stability and features. Indeed, there are plenty of DirectX and OpenGL games that run better on the free (as in freedom) WINE than on the proprietary Cedega.
Long post short: Don't hold your breath, and I would suggest CCP withhold any payment from TransGaming until real progress is seen. @º¬íí-T«+ºH for all your political humor needs |

You could always just use Wine, then. EVE's worked under Wine for ages now, and Wine works on Mac OSX well enough (I'm told). --------

Speak for yourself Grapez. I've been a Transgaming customer for quite awhile now and I have few complaints...I also use wine and test there as well.
Transgaming has already announced officially the first cider game on their site, so as to progress, its there.
At this point in time, EVE runs better on cedega than on straight wine, but the gap has narrowed in the performance department considerably.

I am very excited about this news. It means I can nearly entirely use Mac OS X except from when I get the BF2142 urge. I use Bootcamp to play EVE atm and i works very well. I did a sort of mini guide if people are interested in maybe trying out bootcamp it can be found HERE . Hope this helps anybody. More on the OP's question.
As of now, there are two ways to run EVE on a Mac.
First way is to use Bootcamp and boot into Windows.
Second is to use Wine, or, more conveniently, Crossover Office. I have been running it under Crossover for quite a while now, and generally am quite happy with the results. Performance and stability under Crossover/OS X has improved dramatically over the last two EVE patches. The only things that still don't work are sound and portraits, but I can live without these.
Here is a thread on how to make it work: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=426637

You can also use Crossover.
It's not great for combat, but it works well enough for everything else. I use it for changing skills or firing up manufacturing jobs without having to boot(camp) into Windows.

I am curious, as someone who uses both MACs and PCs for personal/work use, if the MAC version of the game will have its own server, or if we will see some server side integration of MAC and PC users.

That's not entirely true now is it? There is, so I am told, a China only server. You never can tell.
